Julian Peyton had just returned from the prison. Today was the sentencing for Tiana Peyton and Cassie Grant. Tiana was sentenced to death, to be carried out immediately, while Cassie, by some stroke of luck, only received life imprisonment.
Julian Peyton crouched down beside Laura Lowell, his expression serious. "Laura, did you plead for my mom?"
"...I just didn't want to see you so upset."
She remembered how, back at the hospital, he had been willing to defy his own grandmother to protect her. That was when her heart had softened.
'It was better to let Cassie Grant repent in prison for the rest of her life. That way, Julian would still have a mother, and he could visit her whenever he missed her.'
