The turmoil within the Valerius Manor, following Damien Valerius's arrival, gradually subsided into calm.
By the window, Thomas Valerius sat in his wheelchair, his eyes fixed on the view outside.
The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating his excessively pale face and making him seem almost transparent.
On the low table beside him, a receiver was still broadcasting everything that was happening in the study.
Sometime before, Steven Miller had planted a listening device in Liam Valerius's watch. All this time, Thomas Valerius had been secretly monitoring Liam's every move.
Thomas was privy to all the details of his latest plan.
However, his disguise was too good. Everyone thought he was just an invalid; even Liam Valerius didn't take his own brother seriously. Before the incident, Liam had casually sent a subordinate over to tell him not to leave his room today, and then paid him no further mind.
