The Dalton family's door was violently flung open by Joy Dalton, who then stormed in with a furious expression. Sharon Dalton kept her head down, wringing her hands as she trailed slowly behind.
"What are you standing there for! Get in here!" Joy Dalton barked at Sharon Dalton.
Sharon Dalton flinched and hurried through the doorway.
Seeing that something was clearly wrong, Joy Dalton's mother, Mrs. Dalton, quickly asked, "What's happened? Why are you scolding the child out of the blue?" Sharon Dalton had grown up with Mrs. Dalton, so Mrs. Dalton doted on her granddaughter, Sharon, far more than she did on Aurora Sterling.
"Ask her!" Joy Dalton glared at Sharon Dalton, her anger finally boiling over as she slapped her across the face. "I've been scheming for so long, and now it's all for nothing! You wretched girl, this is all your fault!" With that, Joy Dalton slapped Sharon again.
