Jie Jingchen didn't refuse, leaning his entire body against her. Qin Mei struggled to support him as they walked.
As they stepped through the courtyard gate, they saw a figure sitting under a tree. It was none other than Mrs. Xie.
"Mom," Jie Jingchen said.
"Mom," Qin Mei said.
They spoke in unison.
Seeing Qin Mei struggling to support Jie Jingchen, worry filled Mrs. Xie's eyes. She got up, walked over, and helped Qin Mei guide him back to his room.
Mrs. Xie didn't ask any questions, simply instructing Qin Mei, "Xiao Mei, his wound can't get wet for the next few days. Don't let him take a shower. If he gets too uncomfortable, you'll have to give him a sponge bath."
'A sponge bath?' Qin Mei's eyes flickered. Although they were husband and wife, they had never been naked together. Back at Modu Hospital, she'd had the wrong person, and he'd been wrapped up like a mummy anyway. She had only fed him and given him water—she hadn't done anything more intimate.
