Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Goblins

A flash of disapproval crossed Zhuo Qianlei's eyes. "Shu Feng, so you've learned to fight now! Acting like a little thug, is that fun?"

Shu Feng frowned slightly. "Zhuo Qianlei, there were three of them trying to beat me up! Is it wrong for me to defend myself?"

Zhuo Qianlei retorted, displeased, "Then you should have just stopped after you won. Why did you have to keep hitting them? That's clearly excessive force!"

Suddenly, Big Black adopted a combat stance, its expression wary. A wave of danger sensing washed over from it into Shu Feng's body.

'A Void Demon is appearing?'

Shu Feng's expression changed drastically. He whipped out his phone and dialed Zhou Yang's number. "Captain, a special fluctuation has appeared near 76 Qingshan Road, in the Lei Jiang area."

Zhou Yang's voice was firm. "Got it! Retreat immediately and protect yourself. Report anything that happens right away."

Before Shu Feng's eyes, a dark, twisted cavern exuding a bizarre aura materialized out of thin air not far behind Zhuo Qianlei.

A monster about 1.2 meters tall with green skin, pointed ears, a long nose, wearing a crude leather loincloth, and holding a small knife emerged from the cavern.

'A goblin! A fantasy creature, a goblin!'

Shu Feng's face turned pale. He charged toward Zhuo Qianlei, shouting, "Zhuo Qianlei, run! There's a monster behind you! It's a goblin!"

Zhuo Qianlei said flatly, "A monster? Shu Feng, we're already third-year middle school students! We should have graduated from anime and fantasy by now. Your acting is too over the top. I'll give you a five out of ten."

The next moment, a foul stench—a mix of over ten days of unwashed bodies, a rank smell, bad breath, and other odors—blasted toward Zhuo Qianlei like a vile gust of wind.

Zhuo Qianlei suddenly felt a sharp pain in her back as three powerful impacts knocked her to the ground. Three green-skinned goblins pounced on her, pinning her down while tearing at her clothes.

"Goblins! How can there be monsters like goblins?! No! Get off! Get off me!"

Zhuo Qianlei's pretty face contorted as she struggled frantically on the ground.

One goblin grabbed a stone club and viciously smashed it against Zhuo Qianlei's right leg, brutally causing it to swell up.

The other two goblins held Zhuo Qianlei down, chattering in a strange, incomprehensible language.

"It hurts! Stop! Stop!!"

Zhuo Qianlei's face was a mask of Pain as she cried and continued to struggle.

"Go! Big Black!"

At Shu Feng's sharp command, Big Black shot forward like an arrow, pouncing on a goblin and knocking it to the ground. It opened its gaping maw and bit down hard, snapping the goblin's neck. A spray of blood gushed from the creature's throat, splattering onto the ground.

A vicious glint flashed in the eyes of two knife-wielding goblins as they lunged directly at Shu Feng.

With goblin blood dripping from the corners of its mouth and a crimson, savage light flickering in its eyes, Big Black charged the two goblins. It knocked one to the ground and, with a single bite, tore out its throat.

The other goblin stabbed viciously at Big Black's back, barely managing to pierce its hide and drawing a few drops of blood.

A savage glint flashed in Big Black's eyes. It threw the other goblin to the ground and snapped its neck with one bite.

A strange light flickered in Shu Feng's eyes. 'So strong! Big Black's physical stats are only slightly better than mine, yet its combat power is this terrifying! The combat instincts of a Void Demon are truly horrifying.'

The remaining three goblins that had been attacking Zhuo Qianlei finally reacted, charging at Big Black with clubs and daggers.

Shu Feng gritted his teeth, followed behind Big Black, and picked up an incredibly crude Wooden Spear. A long weapon gave him a small sense of security.

Like an arrow loosed from a bow, Big Black shot forward, pounced on a club-wielding goblin, and snapped its neck.

The other two goblins seized the opportunity to rush forward, one stabbing its dagger at Big Black's head, the other at its flank.

Both goblins' daggers stabbed into Big Black, piercing its skin.

Big Black lunged forward again, knocking one of the goblins to the ground and snapping its neck.

Seeing this, a look of Fear flashed in the eyes of the remaining goblin, and it turned to flee.

Big Black bounded forward, pounced on the goblin, and bit its neck from behind, snapping it.

'Looks like I'm not needed!'

Shu Feng looked at the goblin corpses littering the ground, tossed aside the Wooden Spear in his hand, and rushed over to Zhuo Qianlei.

"Acquired 0.3 Pure Soul Power!"

"Acquired 0.3 Pure Soul Power!"

"..."

As Shu Feng passed the goblin corpses, a series of prompts echoed in his mind. He rushed to the still-terrified Zhuo Qianlei and pulled her up from the ground. "Let's go, it's not safe here."

Tears streamed down Zhuo Qianlei's face as she cried in terror, "My leg is broken, I can't get up."

"Hold on to me!"

Shu Feng bent down, reaching out to wrap his arms around Zhuo Qianlei.

Zhuo Qianlei's pretty face flushed slightly. Biting her lip, she wrapped her arms around Shu Feng's neck.

Shu Feng scooped Zhuo Qianlei up into his arms and took off running.

Goblins are the lowest of the Low Level monsters, mere cannon fodder. But even ants can kill an elephant in great enough numbers, and a single dog like Big Black could only hold off about three goblins. Although Shu Feng's physique had improved significantly, he had just started training and lacked much real combat experience. He might not even be able to defeat a single goblin.

Within a few breaths, one goblin after another poured out of the dark, twisted, and bizarre cavern.

A goblin holding a crude bow fired at Shu Feng.

An Arrow shot toward Shu Feng, who was twenty meters away, like a falling star.

Big Black leaped directly in front of Shu Feng, taking the Arrow. It pierced its fur and lodged in its back, dripping blood continuously.

Shu Feng gritted his teeth and commanded, "Cover my retreat!"

Void Demons are ferocious, violent, and bloodthirsty. Without Shu Feng's command, Big Black would have already charged the six goblins that had just emerged.

Five goblins, holding various weapons, charged toward Shu Feng and the others.

The goblin with decent archery skills raised its bow again.

Just then, a massive, somewhat blackened hand suddenly reached out from the twisted black hole, grabbing the goblin's head and squeezing hard.

The massive, blackened hand then twisted the goblin's head clean off.

'An Ogre!! That's an Ogre!'

Shu Feng glanced to the side and saw an Ogre about three meters tall. Its body was enormous, a mass of muscle and fat. It was bare-chested, with a ferocious face, protruding tusks, and short, black Bone Spikes growing from its back.
