Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Informant

Saturday morning, just past eight o'clock.

Yan Ziruo came into Yan Feifan's room and unceremoniously snatched the medical journal he was reading. She announced cheerfully, "Little brother, today I'm treating you to a super lavish meal at the five-star Binhai Grand Hotel."

"I'm a great sister, aren't I?"

Yan Feifan rolled his eyes and called her out. "You make it sound so nice, but you just want me to go with you to your friend Yin Yue's wedding reception!"

"It'll be a madhouse. I'm not going!"

He picked up another medical journal from his desk and said, "Mr. Qi specifically gave me the day off so I could get some proper rest."

"Isn't going out for a great meal better than resting at home?"

Yan Ziruo tried to persuade him, then tempted him, "Let me tell you, Yin Yue's husband is a big-shot producer at the city's TV station. A lot of hosts and actors will probably be at the wedding."

"There are bound to be tons of beautiful women there..."

At this, Yan Ziruo suddenly remembered something and changed the subject. "Feifan, you've been so busy these past two days, I forgot to ask."

"What's the deal with that gorgeous Yu Suye?"

Yan Feifan said flatly, "She's from the Yu Family of Jingcheng. She also wants to study medicine under Mr. Qin. That's all there is to it."

Yan Ziruo let out a soft "oh." "From a family of doctors, tall and beautiful, seems to like you, and you have the home-field advantage."

"Hey, Feifan, you need to be more proactive in the future."

Yan Feifan shot her a look and replied bluntly, "I'm not interested!"

"You're not interested in someone like Yu Suye?"

Yan Ziruo reached out, grabbed Yan Feifan's head, and ruffled his hair. "Yan Feifan, have you studied yourself stupid?"

"Or are you just completely clueless, like some silly little boy?"

Yan Feifan shook his head hard to escape his sister's clutches. "Why don't you find a boyfriend and get married first," he said with disdain.

"Stay out of my business!"

Yan Ziruo huffed angrily. "An older sister is like a mother. If I don't look out for you, who will?"

"Now hurry up and get changed. You're coming to the wedding with me."

Yan Feifan insisted, "I'm not going. I have to tutor Tian Yu later."

"I already spoke to Tian Yu. I told her to come find you this afternoon."

Yan Ziruo informed him, then started to lecture, "I mean, really, Feifan, have you forgotten all about common courtesy?"

"Yin Yue is my good friend. She came to visit you after your accident and after you woke up."

"Today is her wedding day. Shouldn't you attend and congratulate her in person?"

Seeing Yan Feifan still staring at the journal in his hands, not listening to a word she said, Yan Ziruo finally snapped.

"Yan Feifan, are you going to this wedding or not?"

Her voice, suddenly an octave higher, finally made Yan Feifan shift his attention to his sister.

He saw her with one hand on her hip, the other clenched into a fist, her nostrils flaring and her expression menacing. Yan Feifan made an instant assessment.

'If I don't handle this right, I'm about to suffer a physical attack from my sister.'

"Fine, I'll go."

Hearing this, Yan Ziruo scoffed.

"Seriously. You never listen to reason. I always have to get angry."

"If you do this again, I'll beat you up first and we can talk after!"

"Get changed. And wait for me..."

Yan Feifan changed his clothes quickly.

However, he ended up waiting for over an hour. It was past ten in the morning by the time he and his meticulously made-up sister finally left the house.

Just before they left, Yan Feifan received a call from Wei Xin at the hospital.

She excitedly told him over the phone that Sun Wei had just woken up.

His latest weight reading was 72.7 kilograms, only 0.2 kilograms less than his weight yesterday.

This indicated that Sun Wei's weight loss was slowing down significantly, and his treatment plan was effective.

Yan Feifan, however, didn't show much excitement.

He told Wei Xin that only when Sun Wei's weight stopped dropping and began to show a stable rebound could they prove his hypothesis was correct.

Leaving at ten o'clock was a bit late.

In a hurry, the two siblings had to hail a taxi.

Fortunately, it was a Saturday, so there wasn't much traffic. They barely made it to the Binhai Grand Hotel by eleven in the morning.

After paying the fare, Yan Ziruo launched into another round of complaints against Yan Feifan.

She blamed him for not agreeing right away, which delayed them and cost them an extra hundred-plus yuan for the taxi.

Yan Feifan felt he'd been terribly wronged.

But not wanting to provoke his sister, who was in a less-than-sunny mood, he wisely swallowed his grievance.

By this time, the newlyweds were no longer at the entrance of the banquet hall greeting guests. They had gone backstage to prepare for the upcoming ceremony.

Yan Ziruo showed their invitation, led her brother into the bustling banquet hall, signed in at the registration desk, and gave a red envelope containing two thousand yuan.

The banquet hall was huge, with at least a hundred tables set up.

There were people everywhere you looked.

Guided by a staff member, the siblings sat down at the only table with empty seats, located in the back of the bride's guest section.

Yan Ziruo became even more sullen when she saw she didn't know anyone at their table.

However, her attention was quickly captured by the witty host on the stage.

This host was the star of a well-known variety show on Binhai Satellite TV, a program Yan Ziruo watched religiously every week.

As for Yan Feifan, he had no interest whatsoever in the host.

Feeling a bit bored, he began to observe the people around him.

He focused his attention on a heavy man sitting across from him, who weighed at least one hundred kilograms.

Yan Feifan observed the man.

He noticed the man's fat seemed puffy, his complexion was a little too pale, and his cheeks had an unnatural flush. His forehead was also covered in sweat.

Yan Feifan looked closer at his carotid artery and saw a prominent pulsation.

'His heart rate is clearly a bit too fast!'

'Is there something wrong with his heart?'

Yan Feifan then shifted his gaze to someone walking past.

This person's complexion was sallow, a little too sallow!

The skin on their hands was dull and marked with pigmented spots.

'This person's liver problems seem pretty serious...'

And just like that, Yan Feifan entered his "visual diagnosis mode," enthusiastically giving four or five people a "face reading."

For each of them, Yan Feifan identified one or two relatively serious medical conditions.

However, he wasn't foolish enough to walk over and tell them, "You might have a certain disease, I suggest you go to the hospital for a check-up."

If he did that, Yan Feifan would surely be beaten to death.

Of course, the reason he didn't proactively inform them was also that he knew his diagnoses were based on only one or two signs, making their accuracy far too low.

But a moment later, Yan Feifan's gaze locked onto a graceful, charming woman in her early thirties, seated across the aisle in the groom's guest section.

Perhaps his stare was too direct, too intense, because the woman seemed to feel it.

She met Yan Feifan's gaze and gave him a faint smile.

Yan Feifan gave a slight nod in return.

Just then, the wedding march began to play, drawing everyone's attention to the stage.

Yan Feifan was no exception...

Wang Chuan, the director of the Affiliated Hospital's Plastic Surgery Center, had been troubled for the past two or three days by the exposé about Zhao Yuqi's plastic surgery.

But today, Mr. Jiang from their contracted law firm finally brought him some good news.

"Mr. Wang, the influencer has agreed to delete the posts."

Mr. Jiang told Wang Chuan over the phone, "The influencer also agreed to issue an apology, admitting that he was deceived and that he rashly published unverified information without confirming the identity of his source."

"However, he has one condition..."

"What condition?" Wang Chuan pressed.

"The Plastic Surgery Center must not file any lawsuits against him regarding this matter."

Hearing this condition, Wang Chuan pondered for a moment before saying, "Fine. But I want all the information on the original source!"

"Understood. I'll continue to negotiate with him..."
