Chapter 2 - Back to School

First day of school.

–... Hahaha I hate going back to school

Holding my stomach, half-awake, sitting on the edge of my bed

Toc toc toc

"...Mr. Hérése ? ...Your mother is waiting for you in the meditation room," the maid murmured.

The sky was still dark and my clock read 4 a.m. My head was foggy and tired eyes made me feel like I was traveling through time.

– so early in the morning, she'll never stop.

Suddenly I found myself sitting in a large room covered with carpets, incense, and candles, in a dark and relaxing atmosphere that made me drowsy, and above all, in the company of my brother and mother. How I got there, I don't remember.

Mother: Today is the first day back, your first year here, you hérése , you must concentrate and you, while staring at my brother, keep an eye on your little brother and always walk home together, is that clear?

Godwell: Yes, Mother, rolling his eyes

– and you, become a little more mature and normal, you're grown up now, you should stop your whims and act like a strong person. I'm the one who raised you. We're going to begin meditation.

I didn't hear anything she said, I just continued sleeping all the way through until the end, or even when the first rays of sunlight were already appearing as we were returning to our rooms.

And I was quickly put to the test.

Godwell: "Oh, you idiot," he called out to me, "once you're past the gates of this house, you and I won't know each other anymore. Don't even come near me on school grounds, and go straight home after class, is that clear?" he threatened.

I stop and scratch the back of my head

– You can rest easy, anyway I don't consider you an access point, neither as a human being nor as a brother to waste my time on, so you can keep your reforms to yourself

– Watch your language. Since when have you started talking back to me? You've had too much freedom and you're starting to forget who's the oldest,' he said, raising his voice.

I didn't waste any more time after my sentence; I continued on my way to my room, I had even already closed it before he started to claim his birthright.

This day must be perfect; I felt an energy coursing through me, completely waking me up.

It's the first day, the first impression will determine my ranking until the end, I cracked my neck and did my stretches,

Let's get started preparing for the first day of a new life

FALSE, FALSE, COMPLETELY FALSE

I finished late, my uniform was delivered to me at the last minute and I was the only one to arrive late in front of my establishment, the only one who had to go to the courtyard and the worst was yet to come because yes, I arrived in the middle of the national anthem, facing a crowd of strangers lined up to the wire, straight, poised, blue and white uniform, navy blue trousers in rows, hand on chest, who sang in unison, a very nice entrance for a first day back and to add to that I didn't know the anthem.

Where I came from, we were treated like golden eggs and none of this existed.

I had frozen in the corner with my head down, my hands in my pockets, praying not to be spotted, counting the grains of sand and crossing my fingers in my pockets.

SHAME

The best first day of school in my life.

Luckily for me, nobody spotted me, I was able to sneak into my classroom group, I hope I didn't get lost, since we had been waiting for two hours in front of our classroom, is this normal or is it just another one of their rituals here.

No, actually, because a concierge just rushed over to us, key in hand, apologizing for the delay

And then reality finally hit me: our classroom was almost empty, with only a few bangs across the room. Everyone was happily settling in, friends reuniting, groups forming in threes and fours, and I was the only one lost in the middle of it all.

So I head towards an empty seat without thinking too much about it, right in the middle of the group that all the students a bit like me were avoiding like the plague.

I didn't understand why everyone had stopped and were staring at me, before one of them called out to me.

– Hey, you're new here, right?

A boy, average height, black hair, a sly smile, the typical bully.

Here we go again

–..... Yes, I'm new…

Putting my hands back in my pockets, I turn to face the painting.

But another man gets up and approaches, watching him out of the corner of his eye. I was ready to dodge a blow.

– he's cute, touching my hair

TAP!

I pushed his hand away a little too violently.

"Don't touch me," she said curtly, and immediately put her hand in her pocket.

– Ouch, I just wanted to know if that's your real color, in any case it's very ugly.

By rubbing the back of his hand

"Axel, stop bothering him, he's going to cry," murmured a third person who had joined them. "He's not really different; apart from his braids and his symmetrical face, he was just as ordinary as the others."

And he sat down on my desk

(I understand better why we avoided them, they're all crazy)

– You've never seen a redhead in your life, it's my natural color

Running a hand through my hair

"Redhead?" Alex repeated. "What's that all about, Luc, do you know?"

Staring at his interlocutor right behind me with two bangs

"You're too stupid, who doesn't know that?" Luc, the first to call out to me, breathed.

He often turned around and held the back of his neck as if he needed to ask permission before speaking.

Strange, and especially the two alone at the back who were staring at us, one on the desk, wearing a black hooded suit, shiny watch on his wrist, one on the rather simple chair, a white sweater under his sky blue uniform and they were observing us in silence.

I have a knack for finding complicated problems.

– Hey redhead, where are you from?

A voice from the back calls out to me.

I turn around instinctively, used to being called that.

It was him, sitting on the desk, looking at his second-in-command, and he asked me the question again.

– Where are you from?

"What do you mean, 'where am I from?'" I simply murmured, and turned around to push the fat ass back onto my desk.

Luc: We asked you a question, where are you from, a rival school, a gang, or are you just stupid

HAAAAAAAAA

The three of them started laughing.

"Haha, you're from Utes? From the public, plaque ? Aklassou? Marie? Or Kognodie?" murmured the least ordinary one with a serious look.

"Anyway, who cares, haha," Alex laughed. "I just want to know what you're doing in our row. You're taking a friend's seat, aren't you, guys?"

Silence

The least ordinary one glared at him, and Luc stared back.

"You have a big mouth that serves no purpose," murmured the one sitting on the desk, and grabbed a pencil case.

Tac !

It landed on my head

I want you to leave this place of your own accord; don't show yourself in front of us again tomorrow.

The whole class watched us with strange nervousness, avoiding my gaze as much as possible, as if to escape this situation and remind me that I was truly alone and no help was possible.

This seat was empty, so I don't see why I should leave, and if it belongs to someone, then let them come and take it or just sit next to it.

The hérése eyes shone a deep orange

BRINNNN BRINNNN BRINNNN

One of the fastest days, you could say I was saved by the bell.
