Chapter 314 - 314. Keep You on Your Toes

Bursting out of her room, she came to a sudden stop as a whole other mass of figures turned towards them, Gods and powerful beings all, and she immediately took a step back into Dirdos who had managed to get himself free first and his arms immediately went around her, drawing her back into his chest.

"You're alive…" Anubis growled, and she nodded, nervous to see them all looking less than friendly.

"What happened to it?" he asked, looking down at her stomach.

"I died," she said flatly.

"You killed yourself?" the four-armed, dark skinned woman asked.

"Yes," she lied, refusing to implicate Kai or anyone else in the issue.

"Why would you?" she asked.

"I'm not a brood mare. I will not create another world without it being my choice."

"You can't just destroy worlds," a man from the back of the room said. He had floor length white hair and four sets of wings. She had no idea what he was, and it bothered her immensely.

"It wasn't a developed world, it was nothing but a rock," she said warily, staring at him with an intensity that made him nervous.

"You killed a world for no reason," Anubis growled.

"I killed a rock because another one of you decided that he had to have his world. And to do that, he will repeatedly abuse me."

"That's no excuse," Anubis growled.

"Do you know how many times he abused me?" she snarled, advancing on the jackal headed God. "Do you know what it feels like to have a man force himself on you time and time again to get what he wants?"

Anubis backed away from her, but she kept coming for him.

"Etani…" Sobek warned, and she stopped, glaring up at the enormous God.

"Unbind me and I'll make you all your own world and you can be gone out of my life forever!" she cried, turning on Sobek. "You all bought into his story. He knew this was likely to happen! He manipulated all of you so he could have his Creator plaything! You are all responsible! You did this!"

She didn't mean for the tears to fill her eyes, but they came and she stared at Sobek, her teeth clenched.

"He did this so he could take me… so he could force me to create for him… He knew this would happen! And you just did it for him! You just handed me over!"

Sobek stood slowly, moving forward towards her, and his face was hard.

"Sobek…" Daemon growled in warning as she backed away from him, hating that they could see her tears.

"We will not unbind you," he said, and she sucked in a breath, pain flooding through her at the new betrayal. "No one here will do what Zeus did to you."

She turned to look at Daemon, who was frowning, watching the room.

"You're lying," she whispered. "What's stopping you from taking me?"

Sobek's face hardened, and she slapped his hand away as he reached for her.

"Don't ever touch me again, Sobek!" she screamed, reminded sharply of the gold rings on her arms.

He grabbed her and she jerked back from him, slamming her foot into his shin to make him yelp.

"I trusted you!" she cried, kicking him again in the same spot when he refused to let go. "You were supposed to be one of the good ones, but you're a liar!" She drove her knee up between his legs and he dropped, but someone else had her. "If I ever get my magic back, I'm coming for you first, you traitorous bastard!" she screamed, getting one last kick in on his side before she was dragged backwards and thrown to the floor at Amun's feet.

He looked down at her, and she met his eyes.

"Such a feisty little thing…" he said softly, and she glared at him, pushing herself to her feet to still have to look up at him.

"What are you all doing here still?" she demanded of him. Like Zeus and Poseidon, Sobek, Anubis, and Hades, he was one of the strongest and she wanted to kick him, too.

"Deciding what to do with you…" he said calmly, and she took a step back.

"Again? Haven't you done enough to contain me?"

"Clearly not, since you can still be taken."

"You are not doing anything more to me." Why were so many of the men shirtless? She was momentarily distracted by the fact and shook her head, trying to focus.

"No, we are going to bring someone in who can stay close to you," he said, and she blinked at him, completely thrown by that.

"You're what?" she asked.

"Getting you a bodyguard. Where's that boy?"

She turned, and her eyes widened as she saw him.

He was taller than her, like everyone else there, with snow white hair that was wild and alabaster cream skin. His eyes were crimson, and he wore a mask over the lower half of his face.

His eyes were on her, and she felt a shiver go down her spine at the way he moved, her eyes tracking every tiny muscle movement. He wore black pants and a black shirt, his hands tucked into his front pockets. Every step had a feral, feline grace to it, and she could hear her own heart as it sped up with each loping step towards her.

Growling had started from her bedroom door. Lots of growling, but she ignored them, her chin lifting as he came to a slow stop in front of her and his eyes were amused.

"Sebastian, this is Etani. Etani, this is your new bodyguard."

She swallowed hard and as someone brushed her arm, she reached up and grabbed the shirt, backing away from the new male, though she couldn't take her eyes off him, not for a second.

She was clutching the front of Dirdos' shirt. His eyes narrowed dangerously on Sebastian who seemed to be enjoying the attention.

"Pleasure," he purred, and she made a soft sound that was half moan, half whimper that made him grin, though it was hard to tell with the mask.

"You're not leaving that here," Daemon snarled, glaring at the newcomer.

"Why not?" Amun asked, clearly amused. "It'll be good for you all. Keep you on your toes."

"Get rid of it."

She had started stroking the fabric of Dirdos' shirt between her fingers, eyes wide and staring at the male, even in the protective field of her friends.

Letari stepped forward, and Sebastian's pale brow lifted.

"There's two of them?"

"Twins, but the blue eyes are the ones you are trying to keep open."

Letari was growling at Sebastian too, her arms going around her twin, and they drew her back closer to the centre of the group.

"Good luck," Amun said, and he grinned before he vanished, most of the others going with him.

"Touch her and you die…" Daemon growled.

"Don't intend on touching her," Sebastian said, smiling when she shifted to lean sideways so she could watch him around Daemon's arm.

"What is he?" she breathed, and Daemon looked around, alarmed by her tone.

"Cambion," he snarled.

"What's that?" Letari asked, following Etani's thoughts.

"Half-breed bastard child of an incubus or succubus, and something else."

That made sense, and Dirdos pried her fingers free of his shirt.

"And a siren," Sebastian supplied helpfully.

"Oh…" she said slowly, fascinated by him.

She understood how they felt around her then, and his eyes were still on her, his head tilting slightly as hers did so she could see him around Daemon when the demon moved to block her view.

"Pretty thing," he said.

"Fuck off," Letari growled, making the male laugh.

His laugh made her heart slam against her ribcage and Dirdos growled at the sound. It was hypnotic, delicious, and sinful. She wanted to hear it again, very badly.
