After the other four Gorosei arrived, the Kuja Pirates sank into complete despair. Ever since Hancock had been captured, their morale had already collapsed, and the battle had turned into nothing more than a one‑sided slaughter and roundup. Against the Marines and the Pacifista, the Kuja warriors' strength simply wasn't enough; they couldn't even withstand a single blow.
With all five Gorosei now gathered, that despair only deepened.
Saturn stared at Luffy, now transformed into the white Sun God, and said gravely, "It's truly unbelievable. I never thought the Nika fruit would actually awaken."
Standing beside him, Garling added in a serious tone, "Not only that, but every time he's knocked down, his strength increases a bit. He seems able to keep reviving."
Hearing this, Saint Nusjuro explained, "That's the power of the Drums of Liberation. But this technique consumes his lifespan. As long as we keep inflicting serious injuries, even the Drums of Liberation won't be able to make him stand up again."
Saint Warcury nodded in agreement. "Let's do it. He's just awakened the Nika fruit. We kill him now, while we still can."
The other four Gorosei voiced their agreement and shifted into their transformed states. Garling barked an order: "Gorum, stand down. The rest is up to us."
At his command, and seeing all of the Gorosei enter their Human‑Beast Forms, Gorum immediately withdrew.
An instant later, the Gorosei moved as one, charging straight at Nika Luffy.
"Luffy…" Seeing this, a trace of worry flickered in Hancock's beautiful eyes.
Nearby, Gorum clicked his tongue in displeasure and said disdainfully, "Number 77, it seems you're very worried about that Straw Hat Luffy."
As he approached, Hancock's body trembled nonstop. She didn't dare meet his gaze and quickly lowered her head.
Gorum watched her, a cruel smile tugging at his lips. "It seems you've started to develop the awareness of a slave. This saint is quite pleased."
With that, he turned his head toward the battlefield and said coldly, "All right, let's see it. Just how many more times can this Straw Hat revive?"
The Gorosei attacked together. Though they had neglected physical training for many years and relied on their immortality, leaving their raw stamina far from extraordinary, their Haki was anything but weak.
"Ah—ah—ah—ah—ah!!!"
Nika Luffy's scream tore through the air as Saint Garling and Saint Nusjuro swung in unison. Their blades carved an X-shaped slash across his chest, blood spraying as the impact sent him hurtling backward.
He crashed to the ground and skidded, the rubber of his body creaking and stretching. As he lay there, his form began to wither and shrivel, aging in an instant.
Saint Nusjuro roared, voice sharp with killing intent, "Don't give him a chance to revive! Kill him in one go!"
But Luffy, sensing the danger closing in, felt his heart pound louder and louder—doom, da-dum, doom, da-dum—the rhythm of the Drums of Liberation echoing through his chest. He suddenly burst out laughing, wild and carefree.
"Hahahahaha! I don't really get it, but right now it feels like I can do anything I want! Hahahahaha!"
Before their eyes, Luffy swelled back into his Nika form, the Sun God's silhouette reappearing as his hair and clothes turned ghostly white and smoke-like.
The Gorosei stared at him with grim faces.
"It seems it won't be so easy to deal with him…"
"Hmph," Saint Nusjuro said coldly. "He's taken wounds that serious and can still spring back like that. He's just burning up his own lifespan."
—
Meanwhile, far away, Marco was flying toward Amazon Lily with Ace in his grasp, blue flames trailing behind him. Ace's face was tight with worry as he stared at the vivre card in his hand. It kept burning away, then knitting itself back together, over and over.
"What in the world is going on with Luffy?!" Ace snapped, his voice unsteady. "Marco, can't we go any faster?!"
Marco clicked his tongue, clearly annoyed. "Hey, hey, you're asking a bit much!"
He was already flying at a considerable speed. Any faster and the stamina he'd burn would be huge. If a war was waiting for them at Amazon Lily and he arrived exhausted, he'd just be throwing his life away.
Realizing he'd gone too far, Ace's shoulders slumped. "Sorry, I just…"
Marco shook his head, not taking it to heart. "I get that you're anxious, but all we can do now is trust him. This all went down out of nowhere."
"And the Marines might not kill your brother. As long as he's alive—even if he's locked up—we'll have a chance to save him."
Ace fell silent for a moment, then nodded slightly, gripping the vivre card tighter as Marco's blue flames carried them on.
—
Meanwhile, on Amazon Lily, Nika Luffy's power was overwhelming, earning him the title of the "most ridiculous ability." His fighting style was wild and uninhibited, full of bizarre, unpredictable attacks. But even so, Nika Luffy's strength still fell short against the combined might of the Gorosei. First and foremost, his Haki just wasn't strong enough.
Even with the Sun God's Drums of Liberation pounding in his chest, even after being knocked down again and again and rising each time with a grin, he was still on the back foot against the Gorosei—especially when they, too, possessed the power of immortality.
Luffy still laughed loudly. "Hahahahaha! What's with you guys? Why don't my attacks do anything to you?!"
The Gorosei ignored his shout. By now, they had grasped just how troublesome the Sun God form truly was. To wield such outrageous strength right after awakening… what kind of monster would he become once he fully matured?
After all, Straw Hat Luffy was, at this point, just a pirate with a 400 million berry bounty. Even with more than half a year of training since Marineford, even if his strength had clearly grown, how strong could he really have gotten?
And yet, precisely because of that, he had awakened the Nika Fruit—and with each revival, his power had climbed higher. By now, his combat strength was estimated to be no less than that of an Admiral.
The Gorosei once again struck together, dealing Straw Hat Luffy a grievous blow. Saint Nusjuro removed his shattered glasses and said coldly, "What a troublesome ability."
Saint Warcury added solemnly, "However, after so many revivals, his strength seems to have stopped increasing."
Saint Peter said gravely, "His current strength should be the limit his body can endure. Even if the Nika Fruit is called the 'most ridiculous ability,' it seems there is still a cap."
Saint Garling spoke seriously, "At this point, it's safe to say this Straw Hat is the reincarnation of Joy Boy. Otherwise, it wouldn't be such a coincidence—awakening the Nika Fruit and fighting us for this long."
Saturn answered darkly, "Most likely."
Saint Nusjuro went on, "Or rather, we're fortunate he awakened the Nika Fruit this early. If we had allowed him time to keep growing, and he awakened it only after his base strength had reached an Admiral's level, his threat to us would have been far greater."
Saint Garling added firmly, "That's right. Even if he's awakened the Nika Fruit now, he's still within our control."
Saint Warcury said coldly, "Enough, fellow saints. His injuries have healed again. Keep attacking. No matter how outrageous the Nika Fruit's ability is, the human body has its limits. This kind of recovery from severe wounds cannot go on forever."
The other four Gorosei nodded in agreement. Even their so‑called immortality had its limits. Even without being struck by Conqueror's Haki, if they were wounded grievously again and again, their regenerative power would slow, and eventually fade away.
After all, true immortality does not exist in this world. If that was the case even for the Gorosei, then all the more so for a mere Nika Luffy.
