Chapter 1 - The Tale of Jamil and the Kingdom of Dhaman

A tyrant once lived in a land, relishing in the torture of its people. He oppressed all who dwelt there—particularly the Black population—and burned every book of science until nothing remained.

After nearly 50 years, his son Jamil took power. He was the complete opposite of his father; he built schools, palaces, and frontier forts (ribats). However, his stepmother exiled him to a remote area inhabited by only fifty people and handed the throne to her own son.

Upon his arrival, the inhabitants honored Jamil, knowing of his justice, and appointed him as their leader. He decided to establish his own city, which he named Dhaman. He sought to build a powerful army, but he was opposed by the Ottoman, Roman, and Russian empires, leaving him unable to act freely. Consequently, he dealt with the Byzantines, purchasing many weapons and training his people to use them. He paved roads, built railways, and allied with the Romans until he reached the age of 14—the age of marriage.

While he was in the palace, a maidservant brought him news: the King of Yemen was asking for Jamil to marry his daughter. Jamil agreed, provided there was a commercial deal to purchase arrows at 55% less than their original price.

When the bride arrived, she walked upon the earth and it bloomed beneath her feet. She was tall, sixteen years old, and captivated everyone with her beauty—her green eyes and her fragrant hair that trailed along the ground as she moved. Jamil was struck with awe at the sight; he had never expected such beauty.

The celebration began with the beating of drums, singing, and the drinking of wine—God forbid—until the festivities reached a peak of joy and ecstasy.

As the state's reputation grew, Jamil decided to expand it. He wrote a letter to the neighboring state of Takmah:

"O Ruler, what do you know of our might? Has our reputation not yet reached your ears? Or has your ignorance blinded you? I seek no battle of treachery; so prepare your army, for they are surely doomed.
