Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: Slaying the White Walker

At Craster's Keep, Lü Bu and his army had taken control of the premises. From Craster himself, they learned the chilling news that a White Walker was expected to arrive that very night.

"Let him come, and I'll make sure he never returns. Set traps all around. I don't believe any so-called 'White Walker' is that terrifying," Lü Bu declared.

Although he had heard from Lancelot that White Walkers were a non-human species possessing intelligence and combat capabilities superior to humans, and that without special weapons, humans couldn't kill them, Lü Bu refused to believe in such heresy. He intended to meet this "White Walker" in person.

"General Lü Bu, the White Walkers are terrifying. Please do not be overconfident," Aguda warned.

"Rest assured. With my Sky Piercer Halberd and Seven-Star Precious Blade, I roam the lands beyond the Wall freely. Even if a giant comes, I fear nothing."

That night, the red comet in the sky still shone brilliantly.

Some said it was a sign of the end times, while others claimed it was a natural celestial phenomenon.

A cold wind blew, and the numerous soldiers huddled together, using their body heat to keep warm.

However, there were too many of them, so many had to stand in the wind and snow; Craster's rooms were insufficient to house them all.

The night was exceptionally silent; not a single crow called. Lü Bu, Aguda, Ygritte, Craster, and others sat around the fire, waiting for the White Walker's arrival.

Behind Lü Bu, one soldier held his Sky Piercer Halberd, while another held his Seven-Star Precious Blade.

Thump, thump, thump! The sound of boots on wooden planks rang out from outside. Ser Loras had returned.

His face was flushed red from the cold, and white breath escaped his lips.

"The traps nearby are all set, but will a White Walker really come?"

"That is a question for Craster. He is a believer in the White Walkers, isn't he, Craster?" Aguda asked.

"The White Walkers are invincible! You will all be defeated, and then I will drink from cups made of your skulls! Hahaha!" Craster suddenly roared.

"Should we kill him?" Ygritte asked.

"No rush. Once his master, the White Walker, is dead, it won't be too late to kill him," Lü Bu said.

At that moment, a gust of cold wind blew, and the stars in the sky dimmed slightly. Only the cold, bright moon continued to illuminate the earth.

"He's here, isn't he!" Lü Bu stood up, took his Sky Piercer Halberd, and stepped alone into the wind and snow.

He needed no helpers, for he was a mighty warrior.

In the woods, a warhorse carried a tall figure with pale skin and blue eyes closer.

The horse was not intact; half of its head had been sheared off by something. Its remaining eye also glowed with blue light.

"Is that you, White Walker? You really look like a ghost! Quite scary."

The Sky Piercer Halberd reflected the cold moonlight. Lü Bu strode forward and blocked the White Walker's path.

A sharp, unpleasant sound came from the White Walker's mouth, unintelligible to Lü Bu.

"I don't know what you're saying, but with me here, you won't pass. Dismount and fight me. Let me see your strength," Lü Bu challenged.

Seemingly sensing Lü Bu's aura of strength, the White Walker actually dismounted from his undead horse. An ice crystal spear appeared in his hand, dangerous and sharp.

"Just as I intended!" Lü Bu laughed.

The two clashed, Sky Piercer Halberd meeting ice crystal spear. Dark red sparks flew from the friction between the weapons.

Lü Bu felt like he was facing a block of ice or stone. His weapon struck the opponent's body only to produce a clanging sound.

A massive recoil force traveled up the Sky Piercer Halberd to his palms.

"Is this guy's body made of iron? Aren't they supposed to be some kind of biological creature? Not gods? Why is his constitution so special?" Lü Bu wondered.

Lancelot had forgotten to equip him with a Sky Piercer Halberd made of Valyrian steel. His weapon lacked magical properties, so despite his rich combat experience, Lü Bu's stamina began to drain rapidly in front of a White Walker.

The freezing weather and prolonged combat consumed Lü Bu's strength quickly. They had been fighting in the snow for over an hour (two hours in modern time).

Lü Bu's breathing gradually became heavy.

"The opponent seems to have infinite stamina. What should I do?" Lü Bu thought.

He was entangled by the opponent and unable to disengage for the moment.

Just as his attention wavered, the ice crystal spear struck his Beast-Face Heaven-Swallowing Armor. The armor began to freeze, and a chill enveloped Lü Bu's chest.

Lü Bu immediately leaped backward and looked down at his chest. Most of the breastplate was covered in a thin layer of frost, very hard; he tried to shatter it but couldn't do so immediately.

The White Walker didn't pursue immediately but stopped instead. He looked at Lü Bu, and then Lü Bu witnessed an unforgettable scene.

The White Walker's mouth opened, revealing a toothless throat. Only a stream of cold air sprayed out, followed by a set of white teeth growing in, along with a blue tongue.

"A strong one among humans. Meeting you today is my honor! Hahaha!"

This White Walker actually began to speak the Common Tongue. Previously, they never spoke human languages; although they had their own tongue, speaking human language was difficult for them.

"You can speak human language?" Lü Bu asked.

"Does your entire race speak human language?" he continued.

"If the time is right, we will speak it. However, we rarely encounter humans worth speaking to. You are the first I have met," the White Walker said.

"What is your purpose here today?" Lü Bu asked.

"My believer. I came to collect an offering from him. An infant," the White Walker replied.

"An infant as an offering? For what purpose?" Lü Bu asked.

"To transform into our kin, a new White Walker," he said. A large portion of the White Walker race came about this way, though some ancient ones were created by the Great Other himself.

"With me here today, you won't get what you wish. If you don't retreat quickly, you won't see tomorrow's sun," Lü Bu stated.

"Hahaha! Although you are strong, you have no Valyrian steel sword, nor dragon glass. You cannot kill me. Therefore, just hand over the infant, and I will leave without harming the others here. How about it?" the White Walker offered.

"Who said I couldn't kill you?"

Lü Bu retorted.

He took out his bow and arrow. The bow was ordinary, but the arrow was tipped with dragon glass. Lü Bu nocked the arrow, drew the bow to a full moon, and aimed at the White Walker.

Instantly, the sharp arrow pierced the air. Before the White Walker could react, he was shot through the heart. Immediately, he shattered into a pile of ice shards on the ground.

"So they are that easy to kill. You just need to choose the right weapon!" Lü Bu muttered to himself.
