Chapter 99: Charlize Theron
The sun blazed overhead.
It was midday, and a fierce wind whipped the intense sunlight onto Jake's face, covering his once neatly styled hair with a layer of dust.
Parking the car in the world of The Princess Diaries, Jake returned to this sandy wasteland.
He pressed the control on his left wrist with his right hand, activating the suit's power to maximum.
A flash of light emanated from his suit, and with a light leap, Jake soared more than three feet into the air!
Full power consumption meant extremely rapid energy depletion, but for Jake, who could travel to other worlds at will, this energy loss for increased speed was well worth it.
He had put away the Black Beauty before entering Immortan Joe's territory; the explosive spears in the War Boys' hands were quite dangerous, and he would be heartbroken if his car were destroyed.
However, with the suit's enhancement, Jake's speed was considerable, leaping across the desert with a full ten-foot stride between his left and right feet!
However, this method is not normally supported, is inconvenient to control, and consumes a lot of energy, so it can only be used for traveling in flat areas.
The few rock formations that were right in front of him took him a good ten minutes to traverse.
Before Jake had fully entered Immortan Joe's territory, a roar suddenly came from the distance, mixed with fanaticism.
Boom!
The roar of engines filled the air, billowing up clouds of dust, and then several heavy metal vehicles rushed out!
It seemed that Jake's sudden arrival had attracted Immortan Joe's attention.
Sure enough, when these metal vehicles approached, Jake saw several War Boys wielding spears and covered in white paint.
Jake stopped, and the vehicles immediately surrounded him, the white-painted War Boys on the vehicles brandishing their spears and roaring at Jake.
With his hands hanging at his sides, Jake didn't even resist, just watching the vehicles.
Only when they got closer could Jake get a good look at these metal vehicles. The chassis of off-road vehicles were welded with cobbled-together iron plates, each one resembling a fortress on wheels.
These vehicles offered absolutely no protection from wind or rain, but unfortunately, in this world, rain was a luxury.
The white-painted War Boys standing on these vehicles were the fanatical warriors.
These brainwashed fanatics, surviving in this apocalypse, were mostly unhealthy, suffering from various blood diseases. If they managed to capture a healthy person, that person would pitifully become a blood bag.
Finally, after surrounding Jake and yelling for two minutes, these fanatics stopped.
Perhaps they sensed that Jake wasn't afraid of them at all.
And rightly so; if you make a threatening face at someone, and they just stare at you expressionlessly, you'll look like the fool.
One of the War Boys jumped off a vehicle, holding a spear pointed directly at Jake.
"Who are you? This is Immortan Joe's territory."
Jake never showed any hostility, because he clearly needed the help of these War Boys to see Immortan Joe. After all, reaching the cave three hundred feet above the ground was no easy feat.
Of course, he could have brought his helicopter and dropped two missiles directly into the cave, but he didn't intend to do that. The cave was his target. Where else could he find such a perfect mountain fortress?
A cave with height, easy defense, and control over water was clearly only possible at Immortan Joe's stronghold. He preferred to take what was readily available.
"I want to see Immortan Joe." Jake looked up at the War Boy in front of him. He seemed to be the one from the movies, but he had forgotten his name.
"Impossible. Immortan Joe won't see you." The War Boy slowly approached Jake, holding a spear, but he was very cautious, as if he was wary of him.
It was understandable that he was cautious. These War Boys had seen Jake jump so high and take such long strides earlier.
For these fanatics who worshipped Valhalla, this scene, unlike anything seen by ordinary people, was enough to make them wary.
The War Boys weren't afraid of death, but they were most afraid of failing to enter Valhalla, of being deemed unworthy.
"Never mind then," Jake shrugged. His plan to peacefully request an audience and then suddenly eliminate Immortan Joe had failed.
Fortunately, this plan was just a simple test; if it were truly that easy, he would have wondered if there was some conspiracy or trap involved.
Suddenly, Jake asked, "Don't you need a blood bag?"
Infiltrating Immortan Joe's stronghold this way was obviously a good idea; becoming a blood bag, being taken to the cave by these people, and then causing chaos from within would be easy.
However, faced with his question, the War Boys looked at him as if he were insane. Being treated like a madman by fanatics was a first for Jake.
They'd never seen a blood bag volunteer before. But just as the War Boys were about to respond, the roar of an engine suddenly sounded from the distance.
This sound came from outside Immortan Joe's territory, and judging by the direction, it was from the location of Gas Town, where Jake had arrived.
The vehicle, also made of welded metal, exuded a worn-out, heavy metal aesthetic under the blazing sun of this wasteland.
"What's going on?" A woman with a buzz cut stepped out of the vehicle, her voice confirming she was female despite her masculine appearance.
The War Boys immediately saluted upon seeing her, saying, "Imperator Furiosa!"
The newcomer simply nodded, then focused her gaze on Jake, especially his suit and his clean neck.
Jake's suit, due to its self-cleaning function, was almost never dirty; even after running across the desert for so long, it remained pristine. Moreover, although his face and hair were stained with some dust, his clean neck indicated that he had recently showered, and no more than a day ago.
Someone who had water to shower?
In this world, even Immortan Joe wouldn't waste water like that.
While Furiosa was observing Jake, Jake was also studying the woman in front of him.
Dressed like a warrior, her face smeared with black grease, and sporting a buzz cut, she had no left arm, replaced by a crudely made mechanical prosthetic. Few who saw her would connect her to the beautiful actress from other films.
Charlize Theron, a legendary actress, had transformed herself completely for this role in films Jake had seen.
The War Boys approached Furiosa and explained what had just happened, seemingly emphasizing Jake's extraordinary abilities.
"Who are you?" Furiosa stared at Jake warily, while the War Boys instantly raised their spears, pointing them at him.
