Chapter 4 - Shadows of the Mountain

The wind howled through Natagumo Mountain, carrying the stench of decay. Lyra's boots crunched over fallen leaves as she followed Tanjiro and the others, her sword ready. Zenitsu's hands trembled around his hilt, and Inosuke let out a feral growl, sniffing the air like a wild animal.

"This mountain… it feels different," Lyra whispered. Even with her magical instincts, a shiver ran down her spine. She had fought demons before, but the Upper Moon demons' aura was something else entirely—heavy, suffocating, and alive.

Tanjiro glanced at her. "Stay close. The Spider Demon family is strong. We need every advantage we can get."

Lyra nodded. Her grip tightened on the sword, its symbols glowing faintly in response to the dark presence around them.

Into the Spider's Lair

Branches snapped underfoot as they entered a clearing. The massive spider-like demon that had plagued the villagers loomed ahead, its multiple eyes glinting with malice.

Inosuke charged without hesitation, clashing with one of the demon's smaller minions. Zenitsu followed, reluctantly, his sword crackling with electricity. Tanjiro and Nezuko coordinated perfectly, cutting through webs and fangs.

Lyra stepped forward, feeling the pulse of magic and adrenaline in her veins. "Mythical Beast… Dragon Tail Sweep!"

A sweeping arc of energy extended from her sword, striking several spider limbs at once. Sparks and embers lit the clearing, forcing the demon to retreat momentarily.

"This… is incredible," Tanjiro muttered, watching her. "Your style… it's unpredictable. That's why it works."

Learning to Work Together

The demon retaliated, its enormous body spinning like a wheel. Lyra dove, narrowly avoiding a crushing blow. Tanjiro's voice echoed in her mind: "Your power is amazing, but you can't fight alone. Trust us."

With a nod, Lyra synchronized her strikes with Tanjiro's Water Breathing and Nezuko's demon flames. Phoenix Strike, Kirin Charge, and Tanjiro's Water Wheel combined in a flurry of energy. The demon screeched, staggering under the coordinated assault.

Finally, with a precise strike, Lyra drove her sword into the demon's weak spot. Light and fire burst from the wound, and the creature collapsed, lifeless.

Breathing heavily, Lyra turned to the team. "I… I couldn't have done it without you."

Tanjiro smiled. "And we couldn't have done it without you. You're one of us now."

A Glimpse of Darkness

As the team celebrated, a shadow flickered above the mountain's peak. Lyra's eyes narrowed, sensing something far more dangerous approaching.

A whisper of prophecy, carried on the wind: "The one from another world… will face the darkness that even the Hashira fear."

Lyra clenched her sword. "I don't care what it is… I'll be ready."

And with that, the night swallowed the mountain once again, leaving only the quiet hum of anticipation—and the promise of battles to come.
