Chapter 48 - The will of fate

Black Zetsu was quite happy with this outcome. In his mind, only Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo himself could defeat the current Uchiha Yue. If Yue disappeared, Zetsu couldn't imagine anyone other than the legendary Sage capable of defeating him.

"It seems he really was perfecting a new technique," Uchiha Obito shook his head, staring into space. "What a shame... However, it changes little for us. There's always Kamui."

His unwavering confidence convinced even Black Zetsu. After all, the facts were clear: White Zetsu hadn't seen anyone enter Yue's territory, much less leave it after the anomaly subsided. Besides, it had lasted no more than a minute. In such a short time, you wouldn't have time to catch your breath, let alone fight.

They soon appeared before Nagato and explained their findings. At first, he froze, stunned. A terrifying thought instantly formed in his mind: another warrior of unimaginable power lurked in the shadows of the shinobi world, capable of breaking through Yue's deadly field.

Even he, a Rinnegan wielder, was incapable of such a feat. If not for the threat of Yue, the existence of such a master hiding in the darkness would have ruined his own plans. Moreover, this unknown genius could ruin his entire plan at any moment.

However, after listening to Obito's explanation, Nagato realized with relief that his alarm had been false. There was no hidden master—only Uchiha Yue, made even stronger.

"Then defeating him will be even more difficult," Nagato concluded with a heavy sigh. His relief gave way to a deep despair.

Ordinary Yue was an insurmountable obstacle, a monster he didn't know how to approach. And now, having mastered a new, unknown ninjutsu, hadn't he become absolutely invincible?

"If not for his zone..." Nagato thought. He didn't consider himself any weaker. After all, he was the bearer of the god's eyes, the future Kami of a new world!

The reason for his impotence lay in this anomaly—indestructible, unstoppable. A vicious circle: to kill Yue, he had to cross his death field. And for the field to disappear, he had to kill Yue.

A dead end.

To break through a zone of such magnitude, he would need a weapon of absolute power and a chakra reserve many times greater than his current one. Only then could he withstand the absorption, reach his target, and strike. That was out of the question now. He would have collapsed to the ground, exhausted beyond measure, the moment he caught sight of Yue's shadow in the distance.

"It doesn't matter. We'll intervene," Obito interrupted his thoughts. "If we can't defeat him, we'll take the selected 'seeds,' hide in Kamui's dimension, and fall into slumber. We'll wait until he dies of old age."

Obito didn't look worried. Ever since Black Zetsu had opened his eyes to the true state of affairs, he had found peace. He held the key—Kamui, the perfect refuge.

Lately, they had been diligently studying sealing techniques, attempting to create a fuinjutsu capable of placing a person into a centuries-long suspended animation. The plan was simple: while the chosen few slept, he and Zetsu would track down the Tailed Beasts, attain absolute power, kill Uchiha Yue, and build the world of their dreams.

"Hm... How's the information spreading going?" Nagato asked with a nod, returning to the matter at hand.

"Very successfully," Black Zetsu's ingratiating voice rang out. "Word of what happened in Konoha and the threat posed by Uchiha Yue has spread throughout the world. Villages great and small have already dispatched detachments to monitor its zone."

The Sunagakure shinobi, having underestimated the field's power, were almost completely annihilated. This was a harsh lesson for everyone. Fortunately for them, Yue's absorption capacity was still growing, and for now they could use a primitive but effective reconnaissance method: tying up shinobi with rope and pulling them out as soon as they gave a signal.

However, this was a temporary solution. When Yue's power peaked and began absorbing not only chakra but also kinetic energy, anyone entering the zone would be instantly immobilized. They would be impossible to push or pull out. A person weighing several dozen kilograms would feel as heavy as a mountain.

In fact, it had already begun. When Tsunade found herself inside and realized she couldn't take it anymore, she tried to retreat. Normally, she would have been pulled out without any problem, escaping with fatigue. But the zone was already affecting the physics of movement. It took colossal force to pull her out. Had the rescuers been ordinary people rather than elite shinobi, the Fifth Hokage's body would have cooled by the time they were pulled out.

"Now all we have to do is wait," Obito said, stepping forward. His voice took on a steely, prophetic tone. "Let them realize for themselves the horror they face." They will realize that Uchiha Yue is not human. And then our time will come!

He felt the moment of triumph approaching. This was his destiny. Wasn't it fate that awakened these eyes? Wasn't it fate that brought him together with Uchiha Itachi, so that the destruction of their clan would give birth to a monster like Yue? They were all links in the same chain.

Fate itself had given him the chance to realize his plan.
