There was a school called Saint Diamond Public School, situated in a small village.
This is the story of Class 7th, where a group of five friends—Yugal, Tanay, Yash, Rahul, and Kaustubh—were studying together.
Among the five:
Yugal was the naughtiest. He always loved making fun of others, but when it came to his friends, he loved them more than anything.
Tanay was Yugal's follower. He stayed behind him all the time and did whatever Yugal said. He was a graduate in speaking bad words—funny, right? Yes, it really was.
Yash was the most caring boy in the class. He respected teachers and students equally, which is why everyone respected him too.
Rahul was the class topper. He loved studying and always made sure that no one crossed him academically.
And lastly, Kaustubh—the leader of the group. He was good at sports, dance, and activities, and was the most popular when it came to flirting. No one could match him in that area. Though he wasn't very good at studies, he was Mr. Popular because of his talents and confidence.
Kaustubh and his Silent Love
When Kaustubh was in 7th standard, he had a beautiful crush on his senior, Riya.
She was the school topper—cute, intelligent, and very classy.
Kaustubh never proposed to her. He knew she belonged to a rich family and was academically brilliant. Somewhere in his heart, he believed he wouldn't be able to keep her happy because of his financial condition.
Still, being a natural flirter, Kaustubh always tried to make Riya smile.
During dance practice or the annual sports meet, he would crack romantic punchlines just to see her blush.
Riya and Kaustubh were the best couple dancers in the school. They won the Couple Dance Championship three times in a row.
Yugal, Tanay, Yash, and Rahul always supported Kaustubh through every high and low.
Yugal was like a brother to him—if anyone spoke against Kaustubh, Yugal would stand beside him and fight without hesitation.
Their friendship was on another level.
A New Beginning – Class 8th
Time passed, and everything was going well.
The school reopened, and everyone was promoted to 8th standard.
Many new students took admission. It was the first day of school.
Suddenly, the most beautiful girl entered the classroom.
She was new—and within seconds, half the class developed a crush on her.
Yes, including Yugal, Tanay, Yash, and Rahul—except Kaustubh, because his heart still belonged to Riya.
The First Interaction
Yash, being the most innocent, was pushed forward.
Yugal whispered,
"Yash, go and ask her name."
Yash hesitated.
Yugal shouted,
"Go and ask, you idiot!"
Kaustubh interrupted calmly,
"Relax, bro. I'll go."
Kaustubh walked up to her confidently.
Kaustubh: "Hey, are you single?"
Girl: "Yes."
Kaustubh (smiling): "Then hello, my name is Kaustubh. You look very pretty—like a shining star. May I know your beautiful name, my dear?"
The entire class was shocked.
Yugal whispered,
"Ohh boy… did he really use his flirting lines on the first day?"
Tanay replied,
"I think yes."
Yugal smiled,
"Well, he's Kaustubh. He can do anything."
Kaustubh returned.
Everyone surrounded him.
"What's her name?"
Kaustubh replied,
"Her name is Swara. And she was the topper of her previous school."
Rahul became tense.
"Ohh… a new competitor," he thought.
Yugal's Request
Yugal pulled Kaustubh aside.
Yugal: "Bro, she's so pretty. I want to ask her out. Can you ask her for a date from my side? Please, bro… please!"
Kaustubh laughed.
"Listen, if you directly ask her for a date, she might get irritated and complain to the principal. First, talk to her. Ask her name. Then slowly ask her for coffee or ice cream. Simple."
He checked his watch.
"Now I have to go for practice. Tomorrow is our school's cricket match against the neighboring school."
Yugal nodded, confused but convinced.
The Embarrassing Moment
Yugal gathered courage and walked toward Swara.
Yugal: "Hello… Swara, what's your name?"
The class burst into laughter.
Someone shouted,
"He already knows her name and still asks!"
Kaustubh suddenly entered.
"Silence! Mind your own business!"
He pulled Yugal outside.
Kaustubh: "Wow, idiot! You just ruined your reputation. Why didn't you reply to them? I thought you were the Don of this class!"
Yugal: "I am the Don. But I don't want to look bad in her eyes—especially on the first day."
Kaustubh smiled.
"Oh my, looks like someone is in love."
Then he asked seriously,
"But does she love you?"
Yugal: "That's why I needed your help."
Kaustubh sighed.
"Okay. Tomorrow after the cricket match, I'll talk to her. You stay behind me."
Yugal: "Yes! Thank you, bro."
The Match That Changed Everything
The next day, the match was held at Saint Diamond Public School's ground.
The neighboring school scored 183 runs in 20 overs.
SDPS lost six wickets by the 19th over.
Kaustubh was still batting—114 runs.
Last ball.
4 runs needed.
The crowd held its breath.
The bowler delivered.
Kaustubh swung the bat.
A massive six.
The ground erupted.
Cheers. Screams. Celebration everywhere.
Swara ran onto the ground and hugged Kaustubh.
She looked into his eyes and said softly,
"Kaustubh… I love you."
She had proposed to him.
Now, all eyes were on Kaustubh and Swara.
And that moment…
