Today, a single terminal at Avernon International Airport was cleared solely for the departure of one family. A matte black Gulfstream G700 private jet, emblazoned with a gold dragon logo on its tail, waited on the tarmac.
However, this was no ordinary jet. The interior had been completely overhauled: the rigid leather seats were gone, replaced by massive cashmere sofas, a play area with a small slide, and a mini ball pit at the rear of the aircraft.
The plane had just reached a cruising altitude of 40,000 feet. Alaric sat on a sofa, reviewing security reports on his tablet, while Anna fed Theia slices of pear. Suddenly, Theia spotted the cockpit door slightly ajar as a flight attendant delivered coffee to the pilots. With lightning speed, she slid from Anna's lap and sprinted toward the front of the plane.
"Theia! No!" Anna cried.
