Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 Triumph

  Five days later.

A clear, flowing liquid poured from the gourd into an exquisite porcelain bottle.   "Remember to drink it within 12 hours, otherwise it will turn into ordinary wine," Aoki reminded him.

The ghost wine would lose its effect after 12 hours once removed from the gourd.   "12 hours? I understand!" Tamayo nodded.   Aoki put away the gourd and turned to them: "Then I'll be going!"

  "Please be careful,"

  Tamayo bowed slightly.

Yushiro's face was tense: "Don't die, I still want to drink!"

  "Don't worry!"

  Aoki waved and walked outside.

He considered whether to tell Tamayo about the Blue Spider Lily.

Tamayo was undoubtedly one of the world's best doctors, definitely capable of researching the Blue Spider Lily and concocting medicines.

But after careful consideration, he decided against it.

Firstly, Tamayo needed to research a poison to weaken Muzan Kibutsuji, and more importantly, he didn't currently possess the Blue Spider Lily.

The streets of Asakusa were deserted, most shops were closed.

"However, I can try searching for Tanjiro's house next,"

  Aoki thought.

Not only the blue spider lilies, but Tanjiro's blood was also very worthy of study.

In terms of becoming a demon, Tanjiro's talent surpassed even Muzan Kibutsuji's.   Muzan Kibutsuji had pursued a method to overcome sunlight for over a thousand years, while Tanjiro, after becoming a demon, did nothing and instantly overcame the sun.   After leaving Asakusa, Aoki headed southeast.     In the dimly lit room, candlelight flickered, casting shadowy figures.

Uei Etsuo peeked out from under the covers, tucked her younger siblings in, and then looked at her mother at the table: "Mom, aren't you going to sleep?"

"Yuesheng, go to sleep first. I'll finish mending this and then go to sleep."

Uei Mamiko breathed on her frozen fingers.

It's been so cold lately, especially at night.

However, she has to work during the day, so these chores can only be done at night.

If she misses a day, her four children might go hungry.

"Then I'll help Mom!" Uei Yuesheng said cheerfully.

"No need, Yuesheng just needs to rest."

Uei Mamiko smiled gently and patting his little head.

Thankfully, the children are very sensible; in a couple of years, things won't be so hard.

Suddenly, Uei Yuesheng's face turned deathly pale, staring at the window in terror.

Uei Mamiko instinctively turned to look.

  *Crack!

  * The window shattered, and a huge hand reached in, grabbing Uei Mamiko.

  "Oh no! It's a ghost!"

Uei Mamiko saw the owner of the arm, and despair filled her face.

  She recognized this ghost.

A few months ago, her husband had died protecting them at the hands of this ghost.

  Unexpectedly, it came again.

"Mom!" Uei Etsuo hurriedly scrambled out of bed.

Uei Mamiko, tears streaming down her face, cried out, "Etsuo, protect your little brother and sister!"

She had witnessed how terrifying this ghost was months ago.

It was something no human could handle.

  She knew she was doomed.

The only saving grace was that the ghost had only grabbed her, not her children.

Uei Etsuo, holding her younger siblings who had been frightened awake, huddled in a corner, her face a mixture of confusion and fear. Thump, thump,

  thump.

Under the moonlight, a tall figure was running at breakneck speed. Six drums were embedded in his body, and he carried a human on each shoulder.

  Hibiki was filled with impatience.

  Go back!

He had to go back quickly!

Once back, he could start eating people again!

He had been incredibly excited lately.

Not long ago, he had a chance encounter with that powerful figure, who had directly promoted him to one of the Twelve Demon Moons.

"I am one of the Twelve Demon Moons, the strongest twelve demons! I am one of the Twelve Demon Moons…" Hibiki muttered to himself,

trying to dispel the lingering worry in his heart.

Recently, the rate at which he grew stronger after eating people was gradually decreasing, which terrified him.

He knew very well that this was a sign that his potential was about to be exhausted.

Once he could no longer grow stronger, that powerful figure might revoke his status as one of the Twelve Demon Moons.

"No! That kind of thing, absolutely not!"

Hibiki exhaled two puffs of hot air from his nostrils.

He absolutely would not allow that to happen.

He wanted to eat more people.

  He wanted to become stronger.

  Hibiki quickened his pace.

Bringing his prey home to eat was his habit.

Only at home could he unleash his strongest power, making him feel safer.

If possible, he would even try to keep his prey alive.

  It was fresher that way.

He believed that eating fresh prey would increase their strength more.

Passing through a thicket, a building suddenly appeared before him.

The surrounding area was overgrown with weeds, looking like it hadn't been tended to in a long time, but there was a path in front of the door, clearly worn smooth by frequent footsteps.

  "We're here!"

Xiang Kai exclaimed excitedly, striding forward.

Entering the room, he tossed the still-living prey aside, picked up another, nearly dead one, and opened its blood-red maw. Crunch,

  crunch.

Uei Mamiko tightly covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face, her body trembling with fear.

  She was being eaten!

Would she suffer the same fate?

How terrifying! How terrifying! How terrifying!

If she died, what would happen to her children?

Four children, the eldest, Yuesheng, was only ten years old.

Could they survive on their own?

Thinking of this, a strong will to survive surged within Uei Mamiko, her legs no longer weak, and she regained her strength.

She scrambled to her feet and rushed towards the window.

But after taking only two steps, a large hand suddenly appeared and grabbed her head.

Hibiki lifted Uei Mamiko, his eyes blazing with anger: "You dare run away? Then I'll eat you first!"

He dropped the thigh he was holding, grabbed Uei Mamiko's neck, and prepared to rip her head off.

But the next moment, his hand went light, and his prey vanished.

Uei Mamiko stared in shock at the suddenly appearing stranger, her mind blank, only one thought echoing in her mind.

"I'm not dead! I'm not dead!"

Aoki glanced at Uei Mamiko: "Can you still move?"

Uei Mamiko snapped back to reality and nodded hurriedly: "Yes, yes!"

Aoki pointed to a corner of the room: "Go over there, be careful not to hurt yourself!"

  "I know!"

Uei Mamiko complied without hesitation, jogging over, but halfway there she couldn't help turning back to warn: "Please be careful, that's a ghost!" Uei Mamiko

couldn't tell, but Hibiki certainly could, and glared at Aoki with displeasure.

"Why did you barge into my house? That was my prey!"

Aoki looked at the words "Lower Moon Six" in Gyutaro's eyes, a hint of joy appearing on his face.

  "You're really lucky."

He had only intended to try his luck, but he hadn't expected Gyutaro to actually be promoted to Lower Moon Six.
