Chapter 1 - Tired

Rok looked at the screen. It's already his habit for 6 whole years after starting college. His day consists of waking up, looking at the computer screen, doing his assignments, and then sleeping. This continues for 6 whole years. He thought that college would be fun and full of surprises, but now that he's delayed for graduation and ridiculed for it, he's just spiteful of his younger self.

"Should not have dreamed too big, what's good with a top university when I can't even get out of it..."

He's reviewing his thesis again for n-th time. These revisions lately has been getting into his head lately. He typed and then typed and then typed. But today,

*Bam*

Rok slammed his hand on the little table he had. He closed his laptop, slumped his head slowly on top of it, and then reminisced again on his younger, peaceful years.

"What should I do? My life might finish first before this thesis."

He got up and decided to walk around the campus to clear his head.

It was past midnight. He did not know when it started, but night has become his comfort. The coldness of the night, the loneliness, but also the feeling of security of not having to expect anyone to look at you.

He was tired of juniors looking at him like he was stupid when he tried hard. He did his best, he goes to the laboratory every day and not missed an entry in his draft. But cruel enough, fate does not allow his effort to bear fruit.

As he walked the pavements, he reminisced about his past achievements, his past enthusiasm toward studying, and his recent failures.

His head was full of thoughts. His usual overthinking is taking a toll on him again. Only the coldness in his back and the occasional passing of wind keep him still sane and from breaking down.

"When did I become so weak..."

He paused, looked up at the stars...

"Huh?"

There in the sky above. A big red eye is staring down.

His skin suddenly had goosebumps. His eyes were frozen wide.

He's sure, that big eye, is looking straight at him.

But then, a flash of red emerged from the eye, it enveloped him whole.

His eyes forcefully closed from the sudden brightness.

And when he opened them again, what greeted him is a high ceiling with ancient silver chandelier hanging in the middle.
