Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: The Dragon's Dominance on the Battlefield

Unlike the 'playful' confrontation in the Lango Highlands.

One hundred miles off the coast of Tyrosh Island, a storm was brewing.

Loren stood on the deck, his gaze sharp, the corners of his mouth turned up in a slightly disdainful smile as he watched the approaching fleet in the distance.

The Lannister Fleet sailed empty, approaching Tyrosh Island at maximum speed.

Unexpectedly, the Tyroshi were not slow to react; fifty warships came to intercept with the force of thunder.

"Men, prepare to raise the flag. Let Prince Aemond make a low-level pass and teach them a lesson first.

Cargo ships fall back, warships prepare for battle, all ballistae and catapults load and prepare!"

At Loren's command, the crew members took their positions, and the flag representing "attack" was raised on the Golden Lion.

Above the clouds, Aemond constantly monitored the movements of the Lannister Fleet below.

The shimmering silver flag was raised, and Vhagar crushed the clouds as she descended rapidly.

After Aemond clearly saw the design on the large silver flag, Vhagar, beneath him, let out a muffled roar like thunder, returned above the clouds, and charged towards the Tyroshi Fleet.

Arriving directly above the Tyroshi Fleet, Vhagar folded her wings, plunged sharply, and began her dive.

The sun had completely vanished, and Vhagar was hidden in the dim twilight until she roared out again after entering her attack range!

Dragonfire followed closely, instantly illuminating the sky above the Tyroshi Fleet.

Boom—

Vhagar's terrifying dragonfire destroyed the largest warship in the Tyroshi Fleet in just an instant.

The sailors and slave soldiers within the range of the dragonfire didn't even have time to show expressions of terror, turning directly into carbon ash that drifted into the sea with the wind.

Vhagar's dragonfire continued, destroying three warships in succession before regaining distance from the Tyroshi Fleet.

Aemond glanced back with an arrogant expression, then quickly disappeared into the deepening night atop Vhagar.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Tyroshi Fleet was stamping his feet in anxiety; the intelligence he received upon departure did not mention this hundred-meter-long monster Dragon!

"Damn it! Damn Elville! This is what you meant by no monster Dragons?"

If he had known there was a monster Dragon assisting the other side, and the largest one at that, Akeman would never have accepted this interception mission.

"Quick, pass the order, all ballistae load and prepare. Don't hesitate when you see the monster Dragon's silhouette, fire immediately!"

Akeman quickly made his deployment.

Now the night was dark and visibility poor; predicting the monster Dragon's flight path was basically impossible, they could only rely on luck.

"Gods bless, Gods bless!" Akeman's expression was tense as he stared intently at the vast night sky.

Fortunately, the moonlight was good, allowing him to barely see. He quickly spotted Vhagar diving again.

"Careful, the monster Dragon is coming!"

Akeman roared in alarm.

The captains on the periphery of the dive center almost simultaneously spotted Vhagar and issued a warning immediately.

But the sailors and slave soldiers controlling the ballistae were bewildered, frantically firing a volley into the night sky.

All the bolts missed, not even touching the air around Vhagar.

The bolts would miss, but Vhagar's dragonfire would not.

Terrifying dragonfire erupted again, and another five Tyroshi warships sank into the sea.

Akeman's eyes were splitting with rage; at this rate, the enemy wouldn't need many more dives before they would all become fish food!

"Pass the order, turn around, run and fight, and scatter more!"

As soon as Akeman finished speaking, a sharp whistling sound of wind came.

Immediately after, dozens of ballista bolts pierced the warship Akeman was on, and sparks also lit up in the air.

The sparks quickly grew larger, and in the blink of an eye, they smashed onto the nearby sea surface, splashing up huge waves with sizzling sounds.

Akeman stood on the deck of the teetering, slowly sinking hull, his face full of despair.

The enemy warships had already reached the battlefield, they had no chance!

"Damn it, damn it, Elville, you deserve to die!"

Akeman cursed loudly, a bunch of politicians who only knew how to scheme, sending him to his death without even getting the intelligence right!

Fighting a monster Dragon on the vast, open sea with no cover, what's the difference from simply throwing your life away?

Seeing the Lannister Fleet getting closer and closer, Akeman untied the rope of a lifeboat and leaped into the sea.

He didn't want to die yet; he had a wife and children waiting for him at home, as well as assets including several manors and thousands of slaves!

The bone-chilling cold seawater did not extinguish Akeman's desire to survive in the slightest; he swam directly towards the fallen lifeboat.

As long as he could climb onto the lifeboat, he might still have a chance to return home alive.

Fear and despair permeated the surroundings, and Akeman finally climbed onto the lifeboat.

He picked up an oar and began paddling frantically.

A stone burning with fire fell from the sky, hitting Akeman directly.

The moment he was hit by the large stone, the faces of his wife and children appeared before Akeman's eyes.

He wanted to reach out and touch them, but he was enveloped by endless darkness and bone-chilling seawater.

As his consciousness faded, Akeman felt himself being wrapped by a thick tentacle and pulled down into the deep sea.

Loren stood at the bow, taking a deep breath as he watched the night sky illuminated by dragonfire.

To be honest, he had still underestimated the combat power of Dragons.

It's no wonder that group of bastards on the Iron Islands could persist for over a hundred years without following the Old Way, living hard and mundane island lives of fishing, trading, and mining.

The so-called Old Way is the term used by the Ironborn on the Iron Islands to refer to their tradition of reaving.

Plundering wealth through war instead of purchasing it is what they call "paying the iron price".

Before the Conquest, the Ironborn would strike from the sea, reave, and carry back women and goods, then set fire to what was left behind.

In this way, they established a Kingdom on the periphery of the Riverlands, and the reputation of Ironborn ships spread from Oldtown on the southern coast of Westeros all the way to the Free Cities.

When attacking castles, the Ironborn would not throw stones or starve them out; instead, they would use grappling hooks and ladders to assault them directly.

Under the influence of the Old Way, the Ironborn mocked farming and mining; fishing was a highly respected profession in their eyes.

During the Conquest, Aegon I pacified the Ironborn and declared this tradition illegal.

The Ironborn were forbidden from reaving within the Kingdom.

However, reaving ships and settlements from the Free Cities or more distant regions was still permitted.

Continuing this tradition was called following the "Old Way," but in reality, the Old Way had become a legend in the words of the old and a beautiful dream in the hearts of the young.

Over the centuries, the Greyjoy family also kept their distance from other Great Houses, rarely participating in the various events occurring on Westeros.

Loren suddenly let out a scoff, unsure of what he had thought of.

"Men, pass my order, beat the drums, the entire army attacks, and devour this fleet!"
