Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2: New friend

Alfred: Since I don't have class today, what could I possibly do? (Alfred said while just lying in his room)

Alfred was on his phone when Beth messaged him and invited him out.

Beth: Alfred, are you available? (Beth asked)

Alfred: Yeah, why? Are we going out? (Alfred asked back)

Beth: Let's go to an abandoned house HAHAHA (Beth invited)

Alfred: What? An abandoned house, at noon HAHAHA you're crazy! (Alfred laughed)

Beth: Come on, so it won't be scary. Let's go to the one in the countryside, the "Ghost Project" subdivision there. (Beth insisted)

Alfred: Alright, fine, I'm on my way. (Alfred replied)

Beth: Yesss, I'll wait for you at our usual meeting spot, under the banana tree. (She said goodbye to Alfred)

Alfred arrived at their meeting place and immediately headed to the spot Beth mentioned.

Alfred: Holy shit, Beth. This place is huge—how are we going to get inside? (Alfred said, staring blankly)

Beth: Pfft, this is actually small. Just don't go far from me. (Beth reminded him)

The two went inside the house right away, both nervous about what might happen.

Alfred: Beth, why are you holding onto me so tight? Weren't you the one who thought of this? (Alfred whispered to Beth as they walked inside)

Beth: Sorry, I thought it would be simple. (Beth replied)

As they walked, Beth gradually let go of Alfred and they started roaming around the house straight ahead.

They finished looking around without seeing anything at all, so they decided to go outside.

Alfred: Geez, that's all there was to it. (Alfred sighed)

Beth: Exactly, ugh—I was even scared for nothing. (Beth said in annoyance)

Alfred: Alright, I'm heading home now—it's almost 5 PM anyway. (Alfred invited her to leave)

Beth: Oh no, not yet. (Beth stopped Alfred)

Alfred: What now? (Alfred asked)

Beth: The yard—let's check it out too, there's still daylight. (Beth said)

Alfred: Fine, fine, just to get this over with. (Alfred gave in)

Beth: Okay, I'll go left, you go right—we'll meet at the back of the yard. Got it? (Beth asked)

Alfred: Yeah, yeah. (Alfred replied)

As Alfred walked, he talked to himself.

Alfred: Geez, why did I agree to this? Beth's just fooling around with me. (Alfred said to himself)

While walking, Alfred suddenly felt a strong gust of wind.

Alfred: Damn, what's this? Why did it get cold all of a sudden? (Alfred groaned)

As he walked, he saw a young woman peeking at him from behind a papaya tree.

He approached her, but she disappeared right away. A moment later, a white shadow started circling around him so fast he couldn't tell if it was human. Then the woman appeared again—but this time, she had no eyes.

Alfred was so shocked he almost fell where he stood.

Alfred: Arghhhh!! Don't come near me! (Alfred screamed in fear)

Woman: Hi, I'm Nadir. (The woman greeted him)

Alfred: Ahh—don't come near me. I'll throw a pebble to you. (Alfred said, terrified)

Nadir: Please don't be scared of me—I'm kind. I'm a tree Diwata (forest spirit); I just happened to be in this papaya tree today. (The Diwata said)

While Nadir was talking, both of them heard Beth screaming as she ran toward Alfred.

Beth: ALFRED!? WHERE ARE YOU? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU? (Beth shouted as she finally spotted Alfred)

Alfred: Beth, Beth—there was a woman there earlier, she had no eyes and so pale! (Alfred said as he hurried toward Beth)

Beth: I'm sane, and I didn't see anything—so how could you? You must have imagined it. I thought something serious happened to you. (Beth replied)

Beth invited Alfred to leave, so he followed her. When he got home, Alfred was exhausted, but he couldn't get the Diwata he saw out of his mind.

He sat down right away and searched on his laptop if tree Diwata's are really kind—and it turned out to be true. Alfred spent the evening researching Diwata's on his laptop.

When he got tired, he decided to rest. He was about to lie down when someone suddenly knocked on his window—but he didn't see anyone.

He opened it, and only a strong gust of wind hit his face.

As he was about to lie down again, someone suddenly spoke beside him.

Nadir: So you're just going to sleep after learning about diwatas? (The diwata asked)

Alfred: Ahh—(Alfred screamed, but Nadir immediately covered his mouth with her hand)

Nadir: Shh... I already said I'm kind—can you please not be scared of me? (She said to Alfred)

Alfred: Your hands are so cold. Who wouldn't be scared—you have no eyes! (Alfred replied after he removed nadir's hand from his mouth)

Nadir: You know what's funny? The fact that you can see me means you have a "third spirit" (special ability to perceive supernatural beings). (She said)

Alfred: Fine, fine—can you please leave now? I have class tomorrow. (Alfred shooed her away)

Nadir: Alright, but we're friends now—I'll be back tomorrow, okay? (Nadir said as she immediately went out the window)

Alfred: Hey! What? Hey! Come back here. Arrrrgghhhhh! Shit. (He said in frustration)
