Sylvie calmly pushed Peregrine away, ignoring his protesting look, and followed Mary into the kitchen. Peregrine stared at her retreating figure, completely stunned, looking like a fox that had just been abandoned.
Aurelius Von Obsidian, sitting nearby, clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Stinking Fox, can you act like a man for once? You're glued to your wife every second."
He leaned back lazily and continued, "If you were newlyweds, I'd understand. But you two have been husband and wife for thousands of years."
He sighed theatrically. "Have some consideration for others' feelings, alright? Every time I sit next to you, I feel like a decorative backdrop. I'm starting to suspect you treat me like a potted tree."
Peregrine glanced at him coolly and snorted. He didn't bother replying.
After all, some people were born single, and no amount of explanation would help them understand.
