Mary froze on the spot, mind blank, completely unsure how things had turned this way.
Ryan noticed her lack of response. He leaned down, lightly biting her lip in a warning nibble, his voice low and dangerous. "I told you not to lose focus. And I told you not to prepare lunch for him."
The sudden sting snapped Mary back to herself. Pain flared, followed instantly by indignation. This infuriating man actually dared to bite her.
Her temper ignited. She lifted her foot and stomped hard on Ryan's instep, then stomped again for good measure. "What's wrong with preparing lunch? I'll just make more breakfast! It's not like the sky will fall!"
Her stubborn retort only fueled the fire.
Without another word, Ryan bent down and scooped her up in his arms, striding straight toward the villa.
Mary's face burned with embarrassment and anger. She pounded his back with both fists, flustered and furious. "Put me down! You rogue! You shameless man!"
