He didn't believe for a second that such a large operation could exist without backing. Land, money, and manpower. None of it came cheap.
Raymond shook his head, frustration clear on his face. "Their confessions are consistent. According to the evidence, they acted on their own. The case has already been handed over to the court. Sentencing should come in a few months."
He clenched his fist slightly. "But with the current laws, the punishment won't be heavy enough. Over eighty girls were destroyed, just like that."
Most of those girls came from remote villages to begin with. After what they had suffered, their bodies and spirits were broken. Even if they returned home, their parents would likely marry them off hastily, often to even more isolated places, just to get rid of them.
Among them, the thirty-seven on this list were the most tragic of all. They were completely abandoned.
