Chapter Thirty-Three – Paranormal Realm 31
Rowan stood at the top of the stairs for a long moment.
He could hear voices drifting up from downstairs. Calm voices. Soft laughter. His father's deep tone. His mother's lighter one. And,two others he could recognize even without seeing them.
Damon.
Nicklaus.
His heart started beating faster.
Maxx gave him a firm push between the shoulders. "Go."
"I am going," Rowan muttered.
"Then walk," Maxx said.
Rowan shot him a look, but he started down anyway, one step at a time, slow and careful, like the stairs might collapse beneath him. His hands were clasped together in front of him, fingers twisting nervously.
By the time he reached the last step, his face was already warm.
What he saw made him freeze.
The tension from yesterday was gone.
Completely gone.
