Beacon Hills High School
The entire class, including Scott, Sean, and Stiles, was in the gym with Coach Finstock for climbing wall practice.
As Scott and Allison climbed side by side, Sean chuckled while listening to the banter between the two. He wondered since when Scott had become such a creep.
Allison laughed when she managed to make Scott fall. Then, Erica and Stiles took their places side by side. While Stiles climbed up and down rapidly, Erica's breathing quickened before she was even halfway up. Everyone gathered around when she began to cry.
"Erica?! Are you dizzy?" Coach Finstock's voice was filled with worry as the whole class huddled on the mat beneath her.
"Coach, this could be dangerous. She has epilepsy," Allison said.
"Why did nobody tell me this?" Coach Finstock grumbled. Just as he was about to speak again, a shadow darted past him. Using the climbing holds as if they were ordinary steps, the figure ascended effortlessly, scooped Erica into his arms, and leapt down.
Erica let out a scream as she fell, but a pleasant scent reached her nose. She lifted her head to see who it was. It was Sean.
Sean gently set Erica down from his arms. As Erica stood up and slowly walked away, laughter began to rise from the crowd behind her.
Sean looked around. "Oh, is mocking someone really this much fun? Would you like me to mock you as well?" The crimson behind his eyes began to spread. It was a pure bloodlust. The sheer intensity of it chilled the air in the gym.
Everyone in the gym instinctively shivered and took a step back. For a moment, Allison remembered her first encounter with Sean alongside Kate. That terrifying, savage bloodlust had etched itself into her soul. Fear grew in her eyes as she retreated. The rest of the class took more than just one step back; some even collapsed where they stood.
Coach Finstock looked at the scene unfolding around him, feeling his skin crawl. Meanwhile, Scott and Stiles approached Sean. Sean looked at the two familiar faces and, without a word, withdrew his bloodlust.
As the aura vanished, the gym returned to normal. Sean walked away.
Once the climbing practice ended, everyone dispersed. While the crowd was changing in the locker rooms, a sudden noise sent everyone racing back to the gym. Scott was at the front; he caught Erica just as she collapsed from the climbing wall. He held her in his arms as she struggled to breathe. Most of the class, along with Coach Finstock, followed close behind. They quickly called an ambulance.
At that moment, Sean approached the gasping Erica and placed his palm on her head. Scott and Stiles were the closest to him. The duo tried to understand what Sean was attempting to do.
Sean closed his eyes for a moment and reached deep into his soul. As he did, Stiles noticed Sean's hair lengthening slightly, the tips turning a faint white. He was stunned by the sight from such a close distance. They knew Sean wasn't a normal werewolf, but this was something else entirely.
When Sean opened his eyes, a bottomless darkness appeared within them. There were no pupils! Only an infinite, abyssal black. Scott felt his heart racing. It was as if his body was reacting involuntarily.
Fixing Erica's gaze onto his own with his palm, Sean said, "Look into my eyes." His tone was indifferent and cold. In the brief moment Erica looked into his eyes, her own rolled back and she fainted. Her breathing stabilized.
Sean snapped out of his trance. As his eyes returned to normal, Stiles asked curiously, "What did you just do, Sean?"
"I just knocked her out," Sean replied. Then, he looked at his brother, who was watching him with worried eyes. Sean smiled. "It's nothing, Scott. I just feel like I'm remembering things about myself."
Scott nodded. Sean stood up and, as Coach Finstock approached, said, "Coach, it looks like Erica has fainted. We should get her to the hospital. It might take too long for the ambulance to get here. I think it's better if we take her by car."
Coach Finstock agreed. "Yes. I'll handle it. You kids get back to your classes." He picked up the unconscious Erica and walked away.
The rest of the school day passed quite normally. Sean, Stiles, and Scott joked around as usual. When lunchtime arrived, they headed to the cafeteria.
"The food in this school is getting better every day," Sean remarked. "Gerard might be a scumbag, but he knows how to run a place."
"Agreed," Stiles said. "But we still shouldn't forget he's a psychotic hunter."
"Yeah..." Scott muttered, as if the memory of that scene was flashing before his eyes again.
As they were eating, the cafeteria doors swung open. Erica walked in. She had completely changed. Sean noticed immediately she was a werewolf now! They stood up quickly and followed her as she exited the cafeteria.
Erica climbed into Derek's car. As they pulled away, Derek looked at them and waved before speeding off.
"That was so cringe. I expected better from you, Derek," Sean said with a smirk.
Stiles looked at Sean with a strange expression. After a moment's thought, he added, "That really was a cringe move."
Meanwhile, at the Beacon Hills hospital, Melissa and Mrs. Argent were talking.
Mrs. Argent had a knife wound on her arm. As Melissa calmly applied stitches, Mrs. Argent asked, "Young people are so energetic, aren't they? How is your son... Scott?"
"Scott? Like every other teenager," Melissa replied.
"I'm sure he's been quite upset since the breakup," Mrs. Argent noted.
"He's been a bit strange lately, actually... it's as if he doesn't seem sad at all."
Mrs. Argent paused for a moment before continuing. "And what about Sean? I've always been curious. Your other son, the one who speaks so comfortably with my husband. You aren't going to tell me he's just like the other teenagers, are you?"
Melissa stopped stitching for a moment. "Sean..." then she continued.
After a brief silence, Mrs. Argent said, "I suppose I asked a question I shouldn't have." She was suspicious.
Finishing the stitch, Melissa looked out the window and began to speak:
"No. Actually, I wasn't the one who fully raised Sean. After Scott and Sean were born, my husband and I were going through a separation. By court order, Scott stayed with me, and Sean stayed with his father. For many years, I could only talk to Sean over the phone. I heard his cries and his shouts of joy through a receiver.
When Sean turned six, he started kindergarten. He made good friends there. They were truly great friends... he even found his first childhood love. When I spoke to my ex-husband, he told me that Sean was at their house almost every day, and he'd go to pick him up late at night. That made me happy. Thinking of my son spending time with his first love made me reflect on the love I had with my ex-husband.
Then, time passed. I learned the girl's name. Marina! That was the name of the girl who changed my son's life. She was the reason everything started and why my son lost his memory. The reason he wanted to forget his past and lock himself in his room was exactly this girl!"
Her voice trembled as she said Marina's name, and she involuntarily began to shout. Even Mrs. Argent's heart softened as she watched Melissa cry out in heartbreak. "So what exactly happened?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern. "What caused him to lose his memory?"
Melissa continued, "While Sean was spending time with Marina, he occasionally stopped coming home. When he did return, my ex-husband told me he saw cuts and injuries on his body. When he went to their house to investigate, the family seemed wonderful; they said the children got hurt playing together, that even Marina was injured. I suppose they got caught in a trap while playing in the woods.
Less than a month later, an emergency broadcast reached my husband's workplace. it was a top-priority alert. News came of hundreds... no, thousands of people dead. And the location was where Marina's family lived! When my ex-husband arrived at the scene, he said he saw Sean holding Marina in his arms. His tears were stained with blood. There wasn't a single part of him that wasn't wounded.
It was raining that day. And Sean's... my son's screams of agony seemed to shake the heavens. He was so small... his heart couldn't accept this loss. Even though the authorities tried to take Marina from his arms, they couldn't. After hours of effort, Sean dug the earth with his bare hands and buried Marina himself.
From that day on, the spark in the iris of Sean's eyes vanished. Doctors said he was going through a severe psychological state. Because of this, my ex-husband and Sean moved to this town. When I saw Sean for the first time... I don't know how long I cried. I cried for days, for months. Scott saw him secretly crying every night. But Sean wouldn't give any reaction.
We spent years like this, and when Sean finally started speaking, we went to a doctor. But we were completely devastated by what we learned. It was as if Sean's brain had erased the memories that were killing him. That's why he knew nothing about his past. He was like a newborn baby. And... I worked so hard to be a mother to him during that time."
Melissa couldn't take it anymore; tears rolled down her cheeks and fell to the floor. Mrs. Argent looked at the weeping Melissa. She was in shock. How could a child have such a dark past? Maternal compassion surged through her, and a single tear escaped her eye. "I'm sorry... for letting you relive this," she said, and hugged her.
