Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Hawkin's Little Genius.

Hawkins, Year 1983.

Nathan Cole sat quietly at the very back of the classroom, silently writing in his notebook.

Twelve that was his current age. He had light brown hair and blue eyes, and a symmetrical face that allowed him to bypass the category of ordinary people and barely enter the territory of handsome.

At first glance, he seemed like a diligent student, focusing intently on the lecture.

In reality, his mind was on something else altogether.

Why the hell did I come to this world? Nathan complained inwardly as he continued writing.

Suddenly, he stopped and glanced at the four students seated ahead of him.

Will Byers.

Mike Wheeler.

Dustin Henderson.

Lucas Sinclair.

The four troublemakers/nerds who would face countless challenges to save this godforsaken town from becoming a hellhole.

Stranger Things.

He had somehow managed to become a background character in this Netflix original series.

Nathan silently wiped away an invisible tear, thinking about the pain-in-the-ass situations that would very soon start haunting him.

It had been three days since he suddenly arrived in this world, taking over the body of some random person who didn't exist in the original series but now did.

Somehow, very conveniently, he didn't have any parents.

Aka, they went out to buy milk and never came back.

Whether they were alive or not, only God knew.

Fortunately, they had left him a house, meaning he wasn't a homeless orphan.

Unfortunately, they hadn't left him any money.

He had just run out of food today and would probably have to sleep hungry tonight.

Though he had informed his teacher, Mr. Clarke, about it. The man had burst into tears on the spot and repeatedly told him not to worry, saying he would figure something out.

Nathan shifted his gaze and looked at Mr. Clarke.

As if sensing it, Mr. Clarke smiled and gave him a reassuring thumbs-up.

Well, it seemed he wouldn't be sleeping hungry after all.

Now that the hunger problem was temporarily solved, it was time to think about the more serious issues.

Nathan lowered his eyes and silently called out in his mind.

Come out.

A blue screen flashed before his eyes.

----

Name: Nathan Cole

Abilities: None

Equipment: Silver Helm of Mind Protection

----

The main interface displayed only this simple information. Beneath it was a message that caught his attention.

[Survive and complete the first season to receive rewards.]

That was it.

No matter what question he asked, the blue screen remained unchanged.

The only thing it had given him was a medieval, knight-like helmet.

It looked pretty cool maybe it really did offer some kind of mental protection, judging by the name but he hadn't had the chance to test it yet.

With a mere thought, the helmet would materialize out of thin air and cover his face entirely, leaving only two narrow slits for his eyes.

At first, he thought he'd hit the jackpot and gained some kind of inventory system.

That hope was crushed when he discovered that only the helmet could be stored like this—nothing else.

Perhaps it only worked on items given by the system. He'd need to test that later.

Returning to the problem at hand, Nathan stared at his only active mission.

It only says to survive…

So…

He didn't really have to do anything, right?

The main cast could handle the Demogorgon on their own.

If anything, his interference might cause unnecessary changes.

Especially since he was just a twelve-year-old kid. How the hell was he supposed to help deal with a nine-foot-tall monster that looked like it crawled straight out of Wesker's ass?

He didn't even have protagonist halo protection. What if Netflix decided he was just a disposable side character?

No parents.

No friends.

He was practically the perfect candidate for the first on-screen death meant to show off the monster's strength.

To make things worse, he'd only watched the first two seasons of the show. A massive amount of stuff was completely unknown to him.

He remembered there were five seasons, but unfortunately, he never had time to watch them all due to working as an unpaid slave intern at a company.

Sigh… let's just go home and sleep.

He didn't even remember what day the Demogorgon first appeared.

Thinking about the grim future ahead, Nathan left school after receiving a box of rations from Mr. Clarke.

Back home, he cooked dinner, ate, then made sure to lock every door and window before heading to bed.

And just as he was getting comfortable lying under his blanket—

Thump.

An unfamiliar sound echoed through the house.

Nathan nearly shit his pants.

'Holy shit! Is Netflix really killing off the extras?!'
