Chapter 78: The Real Objective

The fifteen werewolves began to emit animalistic sounds of pain when the branches that had been wrapped tightly around their limbs began to tighten up and twist.

Their unnatural strength was not enough to stop the relentless attack of nature, and no matter how hard they fought back, they failed. For every branch they broke, two more appeared, larger and tougher.

Harry had yet to move from his spot. He remained in the same place where he had tapped his staff, his eyes closed and his mind occupied.

Suddenly, one of the windows leading to the inner gardens was heard shattering.

It was very close to where the students had been grouped for their own protection, so they immediately reacted by screaming.

"There is another one!"

"Help!"

The professors scrambled to put themselves before the students as two shadows entered the hall.

Dumbledore and Moody were ready to jump into action and confront these two new intruders. But they were surprised to see that the shadows completely ignored the students and went directly at them.

Moody was the first one to throw a spell. One of the shadows was forced down and revealed their true shape.

The auror's eye opened wide with recognition. The image of this person had been hanging on his wall since that incident two years prior. Once the truth about him was discovered, he went from being considered a dead hero to one of the most wanted criminals.

"Peter P-Pettigrew!"

"Tsk!…" Wormtail flinched. This was one of the last people he wanted to face. But there was no other choice. With their army of werewolves essentially neutralized, he was forced to take action. This plan could not fail. His Master would never forgive him.

While Wormtail did his best to distract Moody, Fenrir charged directly at Dumbledore.

The Headmaster shielded himself successfully from the first blow, and only then did his attacker reveal his identity.

"Of course… it's you." The moment he learned that the intruders were werewolves, the name of Fenrir Greyback was the first one to come to mind. This half-man, half-beast was considered the most dangerous of them all, and just like Wormtail, he was one of the most wanted criminals in Magical Britain.

Fenrir let out an animalistic growl. "I have no time to play with you, Dumbledore. You have something that I need… and I will take it now." His muscles tensed up before shooting forward like an arrow.

Dumbledore was caught off guard by the sudden burst of speed. This was far from what a normal werewolf could accomplish, and Fenrir hadn't even transformed yet.

The Headmaster's wand moved quickly, forming a shield of flames in front of him while preparing another spell that could restrain the dark creature.

Fenrir didn't even bother avoiding the fire. He charged through, suffering serious burns in the process.

Dumbledore had underestimated the determination the werewolf leader could have when he felt his pack in danger.

He saw Fenrir opening his jaw widely, fully displaying his fangs. A single bite from a werewolf could transmit the curse or even cause a painful death, but this was only when they were fully transformed.

However, Fenrir had another objective in mind. He lunged at Dumbledore, grasping at his shoulders. Then, he brought his face close and bit hard on his neck.

Dumbledore grunted but held his composure. "Depulso!" He put an immense amount of magic into his charm. Fenrir felt like he had been hit by a train and was sent flying across the hall.

"Urgg…" The Headmaster fell on one knee and covered his bleeding neck with one hand.

"Albus!" McGonagall ran to him while everyone stared in shock.

"Hehe! That hurt a lot, you bastard." Fenrir's mouth was covered in blood. He produced a vial from his pocket and allowed some of the blood staining his fangs to fall into the container. "Wormtail! I got it."

Peter Pettigrew, who had been driven into a corner by Moody's relentless attacks, used the moment of distraction caused by Fenrir to transform into a small rat and flee, passing quickly between Moody's legs.

He only went back for a moment to grab the blood container from Fenrir, stored it inside his robes, and turned back into a rat, leaving the other man behind without uttering a single word.

"Tsk… cowardly rat. I'll get to you later." With his main goal accomplished, Fenrir turned to look at his pack. They were all being torn apart by the plants that Harry Potter had conjured.

Fenrir clenched his teeth with enough force to produce sparks. "How dare you…" His bloodshot eyes went to the figure of Harry. "I'll kill you!"

His body grew larger and became covered in thick black fur. His transformation only took a couple of seconds, and once he was done, he charged directly at Harry. The only thing in Fenrir's mind at the moment was to rip the boy to pieces, just like what was happening to his comrades.

Harry had yet to open his eyes and had his back turned to Fenrir. He knew the werewolf was approaching with the intent to take his life, but he was not concerned with that.

Before Fenrir could close the gap between them, someone decided to intervene.

"You think I will let you harm him?" The voice resounded all over the Great Hall of Hogwarts.

Fenrir felt his animalistic instincts warn him of an immediate danger. The next thing he knew, there was someone in front of him. A woman with long black hair and a pair of bright yellow eyes that gave him shivers.

"I will play with you, little wolf," Morgan said
