Chapter 43 - An Open Heart, A Confession

Being called by her first name by a boy made Fuyuka feel shy. She lowered her head to hide her embarrassment. Kazuma glanced at her bashful expression a few more times and couldn't help teasing her.

"Hehe, it's rare to see the usually aloof Tosaka Fuyuka like this."

"…Are you mocking me again?"

"No, no, how could that be mockery? You look beautiful just the way you are," Kazuma said with a smile, then asked, "What are you planning to do tonight? Are you staying here, or going home?"

"I think I'll stay here…"

Fuyuka Tosaka didn't know why, but she felt drawn to remain in the old school building. "After all, I haven't fully recovered yet, and going home now would only feel awkward."

Kazuma looked at her with suspicion, then spoke bluntly. "But, Fuyuka… your memories have already returned, haven't they?"

"Huh?"

Fuyuka froze. "Y-You… how did you know? No, um, I—"

Her face flushed hotly at being exposed so directly.

"Otherwise, why would you know so much about Mira Tsubakihara?" Kazuma said, narrowing his eyes as he made a playful expression. "It's obvious her memories returned too. Even so, you still insist on staying here… sigh. Fuyuka-senpai, are you really that reluctant to part with me?"

"..."

That wasn't what she meant at all.

But feeling powerless to explain herself, Fuyuka looked at him helplessly and said, "Kazuma, aren't you the same? You even tricked me into leaving that kind of recording last night. You really have a twisted sense of humor."

She clearly hadn't forgotten.

"Ahem. I was just preparing a safety measure," Kazuma replied calmly. "You won't blame me, right? Besides, that was your own mistake—it has nothing to do with me."

Fuyuka shot him a reproachful look, though she didn't truly blame him. Soon, she quieted down and glanced toward Akane Nanao and Saki Yoshida, who were whispering together. Nearby, Kanna Hiiragi was learning barbecue techniques from Mira, while several stray cats happily ate grilled fish. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious.

Seeing her lost in thought, Kazuma also fell silent before asking gently, "So, Fuyuka… you won't do anything extreme anymore, right?"

Fuyuka understood what he meant. She turned her head and noticed the faint nervousness in his expression, finding it oddly touching. He really was worried about her. The thought softened her heart.

"Yes. I've already given up."

Kazuma didn't relax at all. Then why hasn't your wish list changed?

"It's difficult… not just for me," Fuyuka sighed sincerely. "Both Yoshida and Akane went through such cruel things. And you too…"

"Ah?"

"Akane and the others told me that you lost your family," Fuyuka said quietly as she moved closer. "Yet you still helped us. Seeing you like this… how could I ever choose to disappear?"

He truly was an incredible person.

After speaking honestly, Fuyuka finally erased her wish list.

Kazuma's eyebrow twitched. He felt she might have misunderstood something, but seeing the list disappear, he didn't bother explaining further. As long as it's gone, that's fine.

Still… a completely blank wish list?

Fuyuka held down her skirt as the wind played with her long hair, a gentle smile forming on her lips. "Thank you, Kazuma."

The whispering between Akane and Saki came to an end. The lively girl waved a piece of grilled meat. "Kazuma, Fuyuka-senpai! Come eat already!"

"We're coming."

Kazuma and Fuyuka exchanged a smile and walked over together.

The skewers sizzled as oil dripped onto the fire, releasing a rich aroma. Kazuma swallowed and muttered, "Fuyuka, the skewers you brought earlier were good, but not spicy enough. You need to add more seasoning."

"Here."

Mira handed him a skewer generously dusted with chili powder. "Oh—that's perfect. Mira, you really know what you're doing."

Kazuma took a bite, his expression instantly melting into delight. "This is it. This is the taste!"

"Is it really that good?" Akane asked, tempted by his reaction.

"It's good for him, but it might be a different story for us," Mira warned. "Akane, you'd better not try it."

"It's fine, I'll just take a small bite," Akane said confidently. She took Kazuma's skewer and bit into it without hesitation.

The heat exploded instantly.

"Hiss—!"

"So spicy!"

Akane spun around in a panic, gulping down water, but her tongue still burned painfully.

"Is it really that spicy?" Kazuma said in surprise. "I thought it was only medium."

Kazuma was about to make a few more jokes when Akane, who was breathing heavily, suddenly pounced on him. She grabbed Kazuma's face and pressed her bright red lips against his, silencing Kazuma.

The group of people standing nearby, including Hiiragi, were stunned.

To alleviate the spiciness, she kept sucking Kazuma's saliva, her hot tongue entwining in his mouth. Akane's expression slowly relaxed, and then she heard teasing voices from the side.

"Wow, I never thought of doing that! These young girls these days are really cunning," Mira remarked.

"A trick or something? No way?" The naive Saki Yoshida thought it was unlikely.

"Haha, you don't think Akane is that naive, do you? She must have planned this all along," Kanna Hiiragi scoffed.

With her lips parted, Akane Nanao breathed slightly and explained in a serious tone, "What scheme or trick? Kana, you've misunderstood. I was really burned by the spiciness, and this was the only way to relieve it. Ugh, speaking of which, my tongue still hurts a little, so Kazuma, you'll help me, right?"

After Nanao finished speaking with a grin, she once again wrapped her arms around his neck and offered her lips, while pressing her large chest against Kazuma's chest and rubbing it.

The ambiguous scene left everyone around speechless.

As she gave Kazuma her first kiss, a sly glint flashed in Nanao's eyes. She had indeed done it on purpose; she couldn't help it, having just learned from her conversation with Saki Yoshida that Kazuma had already slept with her.

God knows how I felt at the time, and as for Kanna Hiiragi, her relationship with Kazuma must have been complicated as well.

With the addition of Touka-senpai and Mira-neechan, she was overwhelmed by the pressure. Now that she had achieved her goal, even if it was just a kiss, Akane felt overjoyed, happy and blissful.

Yes, it's definitely really spicy.

Like being burned.

That's why I need his help even more!

"Huff, huff."

"Akane, how is it? It's not spicy anymore, right?" Kazuma placed one hand on her chest. Well, it was an instinctive action; he hadn't been able to control himself just now. As for the women watching nearby, he pretended not to see them.

How can something so big be so bouncy?

"Just a little bit, Kazuma… I still need—"

Akane Nanao was extremely happy to be held in his arms, wrapped in his faint scent. Their lips and tongues intertwined, making her reluctant to pull away. As she kissed him, her consciousness gradually drifted, and an intoxicating atmosphere filled the air. She pressed her forehead against Kazuma's, breathing heavily as she whispered,

"Kazuma, do you know what I'm thinking right now?"

"How would I know?" Kazuma felt the girl's fragrance, the warmth of her breath brushing against his face, as well as the overwhelming tactile sensation of Akane's voluptuous figure.

Not only was she blushing and clearly stirred, but Kazuma himself was starting to feel restless.

"Can't you hear my thoughts? That's how you granted my wish back then~. Just like a god," she chuckled. "Yoshida told me about it too. She said that the moment you saved me felt exactly the same as how I felt. It's really magical."

"Akane, I can't hear you now," Kazuma shrugged. Her wish-list ability was already gone. But just as he finished speaking, the girl hugged him tightly, pressing herself against him.

"It's okay~. If you can't hear me, I'll just say it out loud. I'll tell you everything, and I'll never hide anything from you. My heart has been open to you for a long time—" Akane Nanao said emotionally, wishing she could tear open her chest and show him her heart.

"Then tell me," Kazuma asked softly, "what do you want to do most right now?"

Kazuma gazed at the beautiful girl who was practically sitting in his lap. Her eyes shimmered with affection, and her cherry-red lips were slightly parted, revealing a delicate tongue.

He had already guessed what Akane Nanao was thinking.

She rested her chin on his shoulder and whispered into his ear,

"I want to eat you up~. And I want to do it right in front of Kanna and the others, devouring you completely~."

"…"

"But I know it's impossible. They'd definitely rush over to stop us," Akane Nanao added. Mira Tsubakihara and Kanna Hiiragi looked like they were grilling and enjoying the food, but in reality, their attention was clearly elsewhere.

They were secretly watching this side.

"So I won't do that," Akane Nanao said, pulling herself away from Kazuma and helping him up. It seemed like the moment had passed, and Kanna Hiiragi and the others finally breathed a sigh of relief.

But just then, Akane Nanao curved her lips into a smile. Holding his hand tightly, her blue eyes filled with seriousness and affection, she said,

"Kazuma, I like you."

This wasn't a whisper—it was a clear, earnest confession.

In an instant, Mira, Tosaka Fuyuka, Kanna, and Saki Yoshida froze, staring at them in shock, as if time itself had stopped.

Akane Nanao ignored everything around her. Her gaze never left Kazuma as her voice echoed through the old school building.

"The moment you saved me, I fell in love with you. There's no room for anyone else in my heart. Kazuma, I like you—no, I love you the most~. In short, I just like you so, so much!"

"Will you go out with me?"

An eerie silence settled over the surroundings.
