As dawn began to lighten the sky, Yugh pulled over at a hospital. 🏙
"Why are we here?" Asifa asked, confused, as the car stopped.
"You're unwell, so first let's get you some treatment. Afterwards, we can get a few reports to confirm the pregnancy. They'll be important later," Yugh explained practically. He got out, opened her door, and helped her inside. 🗣
Following the receptionist's directions, they eventually met with an OB/GYN specialist. With gentle hands and a kind expression, the doctor led Asifa into an examination room. A short while later, the doctor, now wearing gloves, returned.
"Don't be afraid. Just tell me your symptoms," she said calmly. ☺️
Asifa listed them: nausea, dizziness, profound weakness. The doctor examined her carefully, then nodded. "I think your suspicion is right, you are pregnant, but let's do an ultrasound to confirm." She then guided Asifa to an adjacent room. "Should I wait outside?" Yugh asked, looking at both women. "No, it's fine, you can come in too," the doctor replied.
Inside, Asifa lay down and lifted her top just enough to expose her abdomen. Yugh looked away respectfully, focusing on the wall. The shock of the night's events had completely sobered him up. 🤰
The doctor applied cool gel to Asifa's stomach. On the screen, a tiny flicker of movement appeared.
"Look here... this is your baby's heartbeat," the doctor said with a soft smile.
Asifa watched the screen, and tears instantly pooled in her eyes. "You are definitely pregnant. You'll need to be careful in the coming months," the doctor confirmed gently. "The nausea is normal. I'll prescribe some medicine. Get plenty of rest, and we'll give you some dietary advice." 😊
Then the doctor turned to Yugh, who had been standing quietly to the side. "And you, sir, aren't you happy your wife is pregnant?" she asked.
Yugh coughed abruptly, startled. Asifa quickly corrected her. "Doctor, he's not my husband. This is my... my brother," she said. 🫠
"Oh, I'm sorry, sir, my mistake. Well, you must look after your sister now," the doctor said kindly. Shortly after, a nurse helped Asifa clean up, and the doctor handed over the ultrasound report and other documents confirming the pregnancy.
Back in the car, Yugh laid out the next step. "We'll get two rooms at a nearby place and rest until morning. Then we'll figure out what to do next." Asifa nodded in silent agreement, and Yugh started the engine. They now carried not just a secret, but physical, medical proof,a tiny heartbeat on a screen, that could shatter Hasan's carefully constructed lies. 📌
