Hasan stared at Asifa for a moment with eyes blazing with fury, then wordlessly left the room and headed to the hotel bar downstairs. As the door closed, the sound felt like another blow to Asifa's heart. 💥
After he left, she slowly looked around the room. Then she went to the first aid kit and applied medicine to her split lip. Though it stung, the tears streaming from her eyes were due to a deeper pain. The way Hasan had treated her, his voice, those eyes… it all replayed over and over in her mind.
"I angered him on such a special day…" Blaming herself, Asifa began to think. The question of whether her love was a burden to him caused her to break down from within. Changing her clothes, she lay down on the bed, trying to calm her mind. But sleep didn't come to her. 😖
On the other hand, at the bar, Hasan began drinking glass after glass nonstop. The music, lights, and people around him meant nothing; his mind was filled only with anger and trouble.
Finally, by midnight, he returned to the room, drunk and staggering, barely conscious. Asifa helped him onto the bed. She removed his shoes, placed them aside, and covered him with a blanket. She looked at him for a moment.
"No matter how much you hurt me… I still can't leave you…" she whispered in her heart, then lay down beside him to sleep. 😔
