Chapter 8 - SCARED

Inside Eugene's private dimension, hours later—

The world was quiet.

Too quiet.

Eugene sat curled near a floating spellbook, his knees pulled to his chest, arms crossed tight.

The glow from the dimension's sky flickered like it couldn't decide if it wanted to stay warm or collapse into storm.

He didn't cry.

Not because he wasn't hurt.

But because crying would mean he'd have to stop pretending he wasn't used to this kind of silence.

Julian appeared behind him in a flash of violet magic.

"I felt the shift," Julian said carefully. "You left…sad."

Eugene didn't respond.

Julian took a step closer, cautious, controlled. "Did he say something—?"

Eugene snapped. "Don't."

Julian paused. "Darling—"

"I told you this would happen!" Eugene stood up, fists clenched. "This is why I kept it secret! You barged into my life, into this—"

Julian's expression darkened. "So I'm a mistake now?"

"That's not what I—" Eugene sighed, hands dragging through his hair. "I just… I didn't want to deal with this. I didn't want you to deal with it."

Julian's eyes narrowed. "So you'd rather lie to everyone? Lie to yourself?"

Eugene's throat tightened.

Julian stepped forward. "I don't care about your family's judgment, Eugene. I only care for you."

' But if choosing when I'm part of your life is too much for you—or—when I get to exist in it—then maybe I really don't belong in it at all."

The silence was sharp.

Julian waited.

Eugene didn't say anything.

Didn't chase him.

Julian gave a bitter, disappointed nod. "Fine Then."

He turned and vanished into a streak of light and shadow.

The dimension dimmed.

Eugene dropped back to the floor, eyes on the place Julian had just been.

And then—

BANG.

A kick against the edge of the portal.

It shimmered violently. A beat. Then another.

Eugene stood slowly.

Another knock. A heavy one.

And a voice. "Eugene." That voice. "Open the door—please."

Eugene's heart stopped. His blood ran cold.

It was his father.

He hesitated—then with a shaky breath, he lifted his hand and let the barrier fall.

Gilgamesh stepped through, not dressed in gold or robes or any of his usual kingly armor. Just simple, dark clothes and that same unshakable presence.

Father and son stared at each other.

No words. No one moved.

Until Gil finally said, "I didn't come to scold you."

Eugene opened his mouth, but nothing came out.

"I— don't like when my children run from me. Hypocritical I know."

He approached slowly, looking at the place, at the books, the way the dimension curled around Eugene like it felt his pain.

"But I needed you know, That you can always run to me."

Eugene swallowed hard. "I thought you were ashamed."

Gil's eyes burned brighter. "Never."

A pause. A breath. And I didn't prepare myself enough as a father should. That's my failure, not yours."

Eugene's voice trembled. "You don't hate me?"

Gil's expression broke. That perfect mask finally shattered.

And then—he crossed the space and pulled Eugene into a hug. Tight. Unyielding.

"I could never hate you," he whispered. "You are my son."

Eugene's hands clung to his father's tunic, eyes squeezing shut.

He didn't cry.

Not because he didn't want to.

But because finally—finally—he didn't have to hold everything in.

"I have to go—"

Eugene stepped into the mirror realm—

—and immediately felt the ground vanish beneath him.

He crashed through one shard, then another. Flashes of broken realities spiraled around him.

Each portal bled into the next—time didn't exist here. Space barely obeyed him.

He aimed for one glimmer of light—but it snapped shut just as he reached it.

"Damn it!" he yelled, voice echoing back at him in distorted versions. One laughed. One sobbed.

He tried again.

Another portal swallowed him whole.

This time, he landed hard.

And when the light faded… he was back.

Right where he started.

His own dimension.

Alone.

His heart pounded as the realization hit—he was stuck. The mirror dimension rejected him. It didn't care how badly he needed to find Julian.

He screamed in frustration, striking the stone floor with a pulse of magic so fierce, the books around him shuddered.

Then he stopped.

He breathed.

He closed his eyes.

And there it was.

Julian's scent.

That haunting, electric mix of ozone and deep earth. Dark silk and shadowed roses. It lingered in his memory, in his magic. Julian had left traces—unintended, but real.

Eugene whispered a locator spell—one only bonded magic could interpret.

The spell shimmered, curling like smoke, then darted toward a new rift forming between the shattered mirrors.

A pulse. A pull.

This one was right.

Eugene didn't hesitate.

He ran.

He crashed through the mirror with a desperate shout—

"JULIAN!"

The air crackled with tension as Eugene stood before the ancient mirror, its surface rippling like a disturbed pond. He didn't hesitate.

With a fierce cry that echoed through the dimly lit chamber, he charged forward, shattering the glass with his body.

The sound of breaking shards mingled with his shouted name—as he tumbled through the fractured reflection.

The world around him spinning into a kaleidoscope of light and shadow.

On the other side.

Julian was bent over a table, his fingers tracing the intricate patterns of a map spread before him.

The room was a stark contrast to the one Eugene had just left—cold and austere, with walls lined with books and artifacts that hinted at forgotten worlds.

Julian's sharp features were illuminated by the flickering light of a single candle, his focus unbroken until the sound of shattering glass and Eugene's desperate call ripped through the silence.

Julian spun around,, only to freeze as Eugene came crashing through the mirror.

rushed forward, catching Eugene mid-air and pulling him into a tight embrace.

"What the 6 Realms —Eugene?!" His voice was a mix of shock and disbelief, his arms trembling as he held Eugene close.

Eugene clung to him, his breath ragged, his fists tangled in Julian's shirt.

Eugene clung to him, trembling, breath ragged, fingers tangled in the fabric of his shirt. He couldn't stop shaking.

"You left," he choked. "I let you walk away and I—I couldn't. I couldn't let it end like that."

Julian stared at him, stunned. "You jumped through mirror realms—for me?"

Eugene nodded, eyes glassy. "I didn't know which one was yours."

"You could have Died!"

"I don't care!"

Eugene's voice was a shaky whisper, his forehead pressed against Julian's chest. "I had to find you. Even if it meant die trying."

His words were choked, his heart pounding against Julian's as if trying to prove its own ferocity.

Julian's expression melted, all the coldness in his eyes vanishing like mist in the morning sun.

"You idiot," he murmured, his hands tugging Eugene even closer. "You gorgeous, stupid, irrestiable idiot."

Then, he kissed him.

The kiss was raw and desperate, a collision of lips that had been denied for too long.

Eugene moaned into it, his body pressing against Julian's, feeling every hard line of him.

Julian's hands roamed Eugene's back, pulling him tighter, as if he couldn't get enough.

Eugene's fingers tangled in Julian's hair, deepening the kiss, their tongues clashing in a dance of longing and relief. Julian's teeth nipped at Eugene's lower lip, drawing a soft gasp from him, a spark of pain that only fueled the fire burning between them.

Eugene could feel Julian's heart pounding against his chest, matching the rhythm of his own.

Their bodies moved in sync, grinding against each other, the heat between them intense and electric.

Eugene's hands slipped under Julian's shirt, tracing the muscles of his back, feeling the warmth of his skin.

Julian broke the kiss, only to trail his fangs down Eugene's neck, biting gently.

"Fuck," Eugene breathed, his hands gripping Julian's shoulders as he tilted his head back, exposing more of his neck to Julian's hungry mouth. Julian's hands moved to Eugene's ass, squeezing firmly, pulling him even closer.

The roughness of his touch sent shivers down Eugene's spine, a mix of pleasure and desire that left him breathless.

"I need you," Eugene whispered, his voice hoarse with want. His body ached for Julian, every nerve ending screaming for more.

Julian looked up at him, his eyes dark with lust, his breath coming in short gasps.

"You have me," he growled, before capturing Eugene's lips in another searing kiss.

Their bodies pressed together, lost in the heat of their reunion, the world around them fading into insignificance.

Julian's hands moved with purpose, tugging at Eugene's shirt, pulling it over his head and letting it fall to the floor.

Eugene's skin was pale in the dim light, his chest rising and falling rapidly as Julian's lips trailed down his torso, nipping at his nipples, making him arch with a sharp intake of breath.

Julian's hands slid down Eugene's sides, his fingers teasing the waistband of his pants, pulling them down slowly, revealing the hard length of him, throbbing with need.

"Fuck, Julian," Eugene groaned, his hands tangling in Julian's hair as he pulled him back up for another kiss.

Their lips met hungrily, their tongues dueling as Julian's hands worked to remove the rest of Eugene's clothes, leaving him bare and shivering in the cool air.

Julian stepped back, his eyes raking over Eugene's body with a hunger that made Eugene's cheeks flush.

"You're so beautiful," Julian murmured, his voice thick with desire.

He shed his own clothes quickly, his body lean and muscular, every inch of him a temptation Eugene couldn't resist.

Eugene reached out, his fingers tracing the lines of Julian's body, his touch reverent.

"I've missed you," he whispered, his voice breaking on the words. "So much."

Julian pulled him close, their chests pressing together, their cocks brushing against each other in a rhythm that was both familiar and achingly new.

"I'm here now," Julian said, his lips brushing against Eugene's ear, his breath hot against his skin. "And I'm not leaving again."

Eugene's hands moved down, gripping Julian's ass, pulling him closer as their hips rocked together, their cocks sliding against each other in a friction that was both torturous and exhilarating.

Julian's hands held Eugene's face, his thumbs brushing over his cheeks as he kissed him deeply, their tongues tangling in a way that left them both breathless.

"Take me," Eugene whispered, his voice a plea. "Now. Please."

Julian's eyes darkened with desire, his grip tightening on Eugene's hips as he lifted him, pressing him against the cold stone wall.

Eugene wrapped his legs around Julian's waist, his back arching as Julian's mouth trailed down his chest, his hands roaming over his body with a hunger that was both tender and fierce.

Julian's fingers teased Eugene's entrance, circling the tight ring of muscle before pushing inside, making Eugene gasp and clench around him.

"Relax for me," Julian murmured, his voice a low rumble against Eugene's skin. "Let me in."

Eugene nodded, his breath coming in short gasps as Julian prepared him, his fingers stretching him slowly, his touch gentle despite the urgency in his eyes.

When Eugene was ready, Julian positioned himself at his entrance, his eyes locked on Eugene's as he pushed inside, inch by inch, their groans mingling in the dimly lit room.

"Fuck, Julian," Eugene moaned, his head falling back against the wall as Julian filled him completely. The sensation was overwhelming, a mix of pain and pleasure that left him trembling.

Julian held still for a moment, his forehead resting against Eugene's, their breaths mingling.

"You okay?" he asked, his voice rough with concern.

Eugene nodded, his hands gripping Julian's shoulders. "Move," he whispered, his voice desperate. "Please."

Julian pulled out slowly before thrusting back in, setting a rhythm that had Eugene crying out with each stroke. Their bodies moved in perfect harmony, the sound of their skin slapping together filling the room, their moans echoing off the stone walls.

Julian's hands held Eugene tight, his thrusts becoming harder, faster, as Eugene's legs tightened around his waist, his body arching with each push.

"Julian," Eugene gasped, his voice breaking as his orgasm built, a coil of pleasure tightening in his core. "I'm—"

"Come for me," Julian growled, his voice a command. "Let go."

Eugene's body shook as he came, his cry echoing through the room, his cum spilling between them as his muscles clenched around Julian's cock.

Julian followed soon after, his thrusts stuttering as he filled Eugene, his groan a mix of relief and satisfaction.

For a moment, they stayed like that, their bodies pressed together, their breaths ragged as they came down from the heights of their pleasure.

Julian's hands stroked Eugene's back, his lips pressing soft kisses to his shoulder, his touch tender and reverent.

"I love you," Eugene whispered, his voice hoarse, his heart still racing. "So fucking much."

Julian pulled back slightly, his eyes searching Eugene's face, his expression soft.

" I Adore you, My darling." he murmured, his lips brushing against Eugene's in a gentle kiss. "And I'm not letting you go again."

Eugene smiled, his hands cupping Julian's face, his touch gentle.

"Good," he said, his voice steady. "Because I'd follow you anywhere, even if it killed me."

Julian's lips quirked into a smile, his arms tightening around Eugene.

"You're a reckless idiot," he said, his voice fond. "But you're my reckless idiot."

Their lips met again, the kiss soft and tender, a promise of forever in the touch of their mouths. The world around them was quiet, the only sound their breathing as they held each other close, their bodies still joined, their hearts beating as one.

The future was uncertain, but in that moment, with Julian's arms around him and his love a tangible force between them, Eugene knew one thing for certain:

he would never let Julian go again.

And as their kisses deepened, their bodies moving in a slow, sensual rhythm, Eugene couldn't help but wonder what other adventures—and pleasures—awaited them in the mirror realms and beyond.

The storm of passion had passed, leaving only warmth and the slow, steady rhythm of two hearts beating in sync.

Eugene lay nestled against Julian's chest, his cheek pressed to warm skin that rose and fell with each breath.

The candlelight had burned low, casting long shadows across the room, soft and golden.

Julian's fingers moved gently through Eugene's hair, slow and absent, like a lullaby in motion.

For once, there was no urgency.

No running.

Just this.

Just them.

Eugene exhaled slowly, the weight of everything—fear, guilt, longing—beginning to dissolve in the quiet between their bodies.

" hey, darling" he asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Julian didn't answer immediately. His hand stilled in Eugene's hair.

"You scared the hell out of me. Euegne" he said, his voice low, like the flicker of a flame.

He winced. "I know."

Julian looked down at him. "You threw yourself into unstable mirror dimensions, You didn't even stop to think if you'd make it back or what you would find."

Eugene shifted, not out of discomfort—but out of guilt. "I just."

Julian cupped his face gently, guiding Eugene's gaze to his own. "I understand why you did it. But promise me something."

Eugene blinked, breath catching slightly at the softness in Julian's eyes.

"Don't run when you find what your looking for." Julian said.

Eugene hesitated, then nodded. "I wont , I promise "

Julian smiled, just a little.

They lay in silence again. Comfortable now. Safe.

After a while, Eugene murmured, " Father accepted it. I think he wants to meet you."

Julian's thumb brushed across his cheek. "Really.."

Julian's voice dropped to a murmur. " I should practice my curtsey "

Eugene's heart fluttered. He swallowed hard, blinking against the sudden sting in his eyes.

"I mean it Jules—"

He stilled at his real name.

After a moment he pressed a kiss to his temple. "Then we'll make it happen. No matter what."

And in that quiet space between candlelight and sleep, where no titles or bloodlines mattered, Eugene whispered the only truth that ever meant anything:

"I love you."

Julian didn't need to say it back. He already had.

With every kiss.

With every risk.

With every time he stayed.

But still, he whispered it anyway.

"My darling."

And they fell asleep like that—tangled in warmth, in magic, and in a promise no mirror realm could ever shatter.
