If you manage to sense spiritual energy and get to the 5th stage of qi condensation, you will be promoted from the servants department to an outer sect disciple. If you reach the 8th stage of qi condensation, you will become an inner sect disciple and if you reach the great circle, you will be a core disciple. After qi condensation is foundation establishment and a foundation establishment cultivator is immediately qualified to be a sect elder. If one manages to cultivate to foundation establishment in less than 50 years, they will be considered chosen and will be true elders, but if one exceeds 50 years in cultivating to foundation establishment, then they will be legacy elders. The core formation cultivators are only 12 in number in the entire sect and they are the joint sect council. The head of the council is the core formation cultivator who is in the great circle of core formation and a competition will be held every 20 years to determine who the head of the council will be. The nascent soul patriarchs rarely emerge from secluded meditation and are regarded as reserves of the sect. Every 6 months, a competition is had among the outer sect disciples and the winner will be given a qi condensation pill.
