Steel couldn't just run away easily, could he? The human knows about his existence and there is that devil spawn here too.
He knows that it is quite fast. River have told him about how weak it had gotten after the fight with Jane and her cohort. But it doesn't look weak at all.
He is aware that its speed is much more than his own. What if the Singing Bat got distracted and wants to have an appetizer before the human? Demons do not taste good but how would he tell that to a insane creature like that.
He needs to wait for the human to either kill the devil spawn or for the devil spawn to kill War. He isn't sure if he can alone win against it.
'What the hell? That man killed a much bigger Devil spawn all by himself. Why am I doubting that crazy bastard? I need to hide so I won't become a casualty of their battle…'
Behind him. The devil spawn is already on top of War. It doesn't seem tired or exhausted. Actually, the wounded human doesn't look tired either.
Both of them are just crazy for each other's blood.
'Damn my curious mind and this luck. Why everything bad happens to me. Can anyone please feel some sympathy for me?'
He is exaggerating a lot. It isn't like only bad happens to him. But he doesn't mind being the victim if the world show some pity on him. The world isn't really showing any pity though so maybe he is doing something wrong.
Whatever the case, he has found a hiding spot of his size. If he wasn't so worried for his safety. Then he would have loved to have some popcorn while watching this battle.
War smiles at the Devil spawn and run towards it with terrifying speed. The singing bat also moves with its claws up at the him.
Both clashes with each other. Every attack and every damage delivered by War is enough to end the fight then and there. But the singing bat dodged all blows as it is faster and the wings that were suppose to make it a big target were nothing but tatters.
On the other hand, the Devil's attacks were weaker but countless. War's body was clawed, cut, bitten and chunks taken out of him with each attack.
However, he doesn't seem to mind it. His wounds are deep and blood flowing like river. Steel didn't understand how can a human have so much blood.
Just in few seconds, the ground was covered in the blood of War.
Singing bat seem to notice the fact that its attacks were doing much to its opponent. So what did it do? It kept going with the attacks. It would be outrageous to expect a new strategy from a wild beast.
Steel is starting to think that he is just watching a fight between to devil spawns. There is just no difference between the two creatures.
At some point, he thought that nothing is gonna change between the two devils. But then, the Singing Bat's claws stuck deep in War's stomach. The blood pour out like water.
It looked like the devil spawn had an advantage. But the devil is stuck. It cannot move anymore. Its claws are trapped.
Was it a trap set by War?
Singing devil makes attempts at freeing itself but all is meaningless. The devil seem to jolt it body with full force to get away from War. Its previous tactics and speed seem to get lowed. is it fear that is making it tactless?
War's spear pierced the body of the devil spawn.
There seem to be a lot of resistance when he did that. Either the singing bat is just too tough or the spear isn't as heavy.
As it seem like both couldn't move anymore. War lifts the devil spawn with the spear and dashes away from the shadows. The Singing bat cries in hatred.
'What the hell am I even watching…?'
Just in few seconds, they're away from the shadows. The singing bat's cries grew louder and louder. It is so loud that it is hard to stand it for Steel. He can only imagine how War is doing.
War smile grew even wider and he attacks the devil spawn…with his hands like a barbarian. It is hard to determine who is a wild beast between the two.
Steel watches with eyes widen and his doubts are cleared. This is the human who killed that towering Devil. This monster would do anything to kill its opponent.
Just in these painful few seconds, the Singing bat dies.
Creature's blood and body parts are littering the ground. It is grotesque and hard to watch. Steel wants to look away but it is so hard to look away.
Whatever he witnessed wasn't something normal.
War is smiling with ecstasy on top of the devil's corpse. His wounds seem to heal in an oddly fashion. But he seem to enjoy it.
'what did I just saw?'
War didn't used any outrageously overpowered soul ability. If he has to guess his abilities then they're just attracting devils and other creature to himself or healing after each kill or something else.
Did he miss something? Was that weapon had something to do with it? Steel can only guess that enchantments on that spear.
And to top it all off. There is darkness that is coming out of the dead devil spawn. Steel wants to curse a little.
After ten seconds of admiring his work. War approaches the darkness and holds it in his hands. The darkness materialized into a weapon of sort, like a dagger or something. It is too far away to see it form Steel's hiding place.
Steel comes out off his hiding place and moves closer to War. He is keeping a safe distance away from the human. He is too cautious and even a little scared of the human.
And what can you know? His fears are accounted for.
War's surroundings explodes with some extremely potent bloodlust. The whole world seem to transform into a battlefield and he is calling for another challenger.
'You are kidding me. He isn't done yet…?'
The ground explodes under War's feet and then something crawls out of it like a serpentine.
Three heads of different sizes dug themselves out of ground.
The first head is the smallest of them all and it is definitely a decoy. The second one opens itself far and wide with hundreds of rows of teeth. The creature is more mouth than anything else. The teeth even moves like feet.
The third head is just a snake head. It is drooling venomous saliva and has sharp teeth that wants to rip War apart.
Steel wants to run so so so far away right now. This is the same devil spawn that he encountered. If he did, he would be dead.
World in front of Steel's eyes becomes hell.
The salivating head bit down on War's right side with rapid speed. The teethy head moves with its rows of teeth like a chainsaw. The weak head just stares at the human form far away.
War's smile never disappeared as the Devil appeared.
His arms moves and he hit the skull of salivating head with his spear. It isn't as fast as the Singing bat so it couldn't dodge.
The hit seem to hunt the Devil snake severely. The blood of that creature comes out immediately. But cause of it's jagged teeth. The snake head's grip never grow weaker.
The teethy head is moving to cut War into pieces. So War moves with one part of snakes body bitten into him. Its venom doesn't seem to affect the terrifying human.
The teethy head comes crashing on War. However, He throws his spear with all his force in an attempt to slow its descend. But the spear pierced straight through it. He didn't expect that to happen as one of the enchantments of the weapon makes its blunt attack strong and everything else weaker.
So does the teethy head is just bones and the flesh is just weak cover? It could be that but he doesn't have time to worry about it.
Rows of teeth fall straight on War. Every teeth is sharp as a blade. It is threatening to cut him in half.
War can only manage to hold these teeth in his flesh. He is gonna do the same maneuver that he had performed on the Singing bat. So what if his spear is thrown away and didn't do what he wanted.
It would still come back and as it does. He would use it to cut every inch of its flesh body into pieces. Does it matter that his weapon can't cut as better than ordinary weapon? It does not. He would brute fall it. He would get his kill not matter what. Nobody can stop him form killing everything and anything that come in his way.
So with no time, the spear comes back and into his hand. His body is bloodied and almost naked but he couldn't care, no cant' care about it. It is all meaningless until he gets what he wants.
Like a creature that wants nothing but death. War attacks without any concern for his body. It seemed like his arms will fall off at any movement. But no, it won't until the devil spawn is dead.
He can already taste the pleasure of killing something like this. He wants to end it. The teethy head torn to pieces as he rip and tear the body of the devil with brutality that is beyond anything imaginable.
War notices that the snake heads seem to grow sluggish. Are they already giving up? Has he already made them so much weaker? He wanted more blood and pain.
As the minutes passes two heads will mutilated into flesh and teeth. It would be hard to imagine the devil spawn with these remnents.
War looks at in front of his with a broken smile. His own teeth were a mess but they easily recover. He can only feel that pleasure. But he also feel a little disappointed as this victory wasn't only his own.
In front of him, Steel stands with a ordinary survival knife in his hand. It is cover in blood.
Under his feet, the smaller snakes head is beheaded form the body.
Steel had cut the head of that weak looking bait snake. It didn't do much to weaker the whole body. But it didn't made the whole creature slightly vunerable to damage. Perhaps, it used that bait head as to see form a different angel or something.
It probably would have been better if he had run away form this battle. But Steel was tired of this man. He felt so disgusted by this sickening human.
War just smiles at Steel. One is bloody mess with few boken bones and clawed off face. Other is fine with only few droplets of blood on him.
War killed Singing bat on his own and with a little help of Steel. They managed to kill Devil snake as well.
