Chapter 86 - Medical Abilities

Peryss, Harport High.

"Young teacher, let's go."

The simple words Lumian spoke seemed to melt away the fear that had taken root in the hearts of the students.

At that moment, Lumian appeared like a beacon of light in their eyes, an angel arriving just when all hope seemed lost.

If the students weren't present, Teacher Margaret felt she might have burst into tears and shouted:

"My knight in shining armor!"

Fortunately, she managed to keep that thought to herself.

Meanwhile, Lumian's expression remained unchanged as he suddenly thought of something.

Using the newly learned spell, he could invade the mind of one of the students and obtain a better understanding of the surrounding area. After all, they were far more familiar with the school than he was.

During his time in prison, he had learned the spell and gradually mastered its principles, allowing him to activate it with a single word.

Normally, once a spell was fully understood, its incantation could be shortened to a single keyword. Repeating that word would strengthen the spell's effect, though using it more than three times in succession could cause one's spirituality to collapse.

Taking a slow breath, Lumian remained calm. Then, under his breath, he muttered:

"Sit still."

Immediately, Lumian felt a chilling sensation spread through his body, as though his spirit had left it entirely.

At the same time, one of the boys in the classroom shuddered.

In an instant, Lumian's consciousness entered the boy's mind.

He quickly searched through the student's memories, focusing only on the information he needed about the school's layout and surrounding area.

The moment he found it, he withdrew without hesitation.

The cold sensation vanished.

Warmth gradually returned to his body, and his eyes slowly regained their usual brown color.

The boy merely rubbed his forehead, feeling slightly dizzy but otherwise unharmed.

At that moment, one of the students gathered around the teacher suddenly gasped. "Teacher Margaret is losing more blood!" The girl with shoulder-length hair looked down at the wound and panicked. "Oh no! Teacher is going to die! We need to bandage it quickly!"

Lumian, who was still recovering from the spell, turned toward the commotion. His gaze swept past the frightened girl and landed on Margaret.

Only now did he notice the deep wound in her chest, and blood was steadily flowing from it.

"She's bleeding," Lumian said softly.

The shoulder-length girl, with tears now forming at the corners of her eyes, replied, "Yes… but… but there's a medical kit in the principal's office. If… if we can get it… we can save her."

As she spoke, she slowly raised her head.

She had been looking at the teacher, but now she saw only Lumian's retreating figure as he had already started walking away calmly.

Meanwhile, the boy who had his memory read, a boy with glasses and a round face, looked at Lumian and thought inwardly.

Damn... why I'm I suddenly thinking about the gym?

...

Soon enough, Lumian was walking calmly through the now-dark Harport High. He felt a sense of unease as he surveyed the hallways.

Suddenly, he chuckled inwardly as he looked toward the doors.

Hmm… as soon as I stepped here, I realized everything has changed. Even my class isn't here anymore; it has been turned into a library.

He chuckled softly and said, "The good old days."

Propping up his collar, he continued walking as he gradually approached the principal's door.

Reaching the door at last, he breathed in softly. Placing his hand on it, he exerted force and pushed the door open.

The moment it opened, he heard the wet sound of teeth sinking into flesh, followed by a faint growl of satisfaction.

Looking ahead, he saw a curse with long, stick-like legs eating the corpse of the principal, who was seated on the chair with his arms spread wide. The creature devoured his stomach, revealing his intestines.

Lumian, of course, was smart enough not to disturb its meal and attract unnecessary attention, so he silently walked toward the shelf.

Still walking, he noticed two girls seated calmly on a couch, already dead, with their chests sliced open and their heads split apart, while worms crawled through the wounds.

Disgusting… Lumian commented inwardly as he approached the shelf.

He finally reached the shelf and quietly searched for the medical kit. Reaching up, he slowly pulled down a large white box, but in doing so, he accidentally knocked a book loose, causing it to fall.

At that moment, Lumian's heart tightened.

Without turning around, he sensed the curse stop its meal, as though it had noticed something.

Immediately, he heard it shift and turn. A low growl followed.

Lumian didn't hesitate. He let the medical kit drop and activated Sleight of Hand, causing the Tranquil Charm to appear in his hand.

Then he turned to face the creature.

It stood there, staring back at him.

It looked like a spider, with a pale body and multiple eyes. It was near the window, its form outlined by the pale moonlight.

Earlier, Lumian hadn't seen it clearly due to the darkness and its position on the table, but now that he could see it fully, a sense of fear rose in him.

He thrust his hand forward, and sprayed the charm's contents.

At the same time, the creature began advancing toward him quickly, its stick-like legs echoing across the floor.

"The Tranquil Charm!" Lumian said as he silently added a quick prayer to Skywalker inwardly.

This process was the same as when he fought in the Yellow Hotel. The Tranquil Charm was a peace and tranquility-based charm associated with the moon, and since the moon was part of the Skywalker element, it could amplify its power and affect the target more strongly.

Of course, after being used twice, the remaining boost of the charm would disappear, and it could no longer be used again.

It suddenly paused and stared at him, but shockingly, it did not freeze or shatter. Instead, it seemed to be resisting the effect.

Lumian tensed up as the creature began advancing toward him once again.

A thought flashed through his mind.

Suddenly, he disappeared and reappeared beside the door he had touched before entering.

The spider, with its countless eyes, abruptly turned without moving its body and charged toward him.

This time, it was even faster.

Its stick-like legs moved at an astonishing speed, making it look as though it had crawled straight out of a horror movie.

Seeing this, Lumian immediately thrust his hand forward and sprayed the contents of the charm.

"The Tranquil Charm!"

At the same time, he silently offered a brief prayer to Skywalker.

But almost immediately afterward, he saw the towering curse right in front of him.

Without hesitation, he bent down and slid beneath its legs.

Then he quickly rose to his feet near the couch where the corpses were seated.

In the process, he nearly stumbled into the couch, but quickly regained his balance.

Immediately, he activated Sleight of Hand, making the Tranquil Charm disappear and replacing it with the Seeking Charm.

The spider, becoming increasingly frustrated, let out a shriek as it twisted its misaligned body into place.

Then it opened its mouth and launched a web-like substance toward Lumian.

Lumian immediately cartwheeled out of the way.

The web struck one of the corpses instead.

As he stood up, however, a strange smell reached his nose, it was an aroma, it was poison!

He quickly rolled across the room, but in doing so, ended up dangerously close to the creature. Standing up, he noticed that the creature's face was now covered in frost.

That's it. It's already being affected. It simply has high defenses, which allowed it to survive the first and second applications. It should already be weakened.

Lumian immediately stepped back as the creature advanced once more.

Reaching the side of the couch, he used his abilities to disrupt the flow of air on his nose, making him unable to breathe for that moment.

Then, thrusting the charm forward, he said with difficulty, "The Seeking Charm!"

In the countless eyes of the spider curse, a burst of brilliant light suddenly exploded.

immediately, it's vision vanished, so as it's hearing and smell. It was as though it's senses had temporary vanished!

Seeing this, Lumian immediately activated Sleight of Hand and suddenly threw cards appeared in his hand.

With accuracy, he threw them in rapid succession.

Swoo! Swoo! Swoo!

The first two cards, both the 2 of Diamonds, flashed through the air.

They sliced through the creature's legs and immediately erupted into flames.

The spider curse let out a shriek as its burning limbs collapsed.

The third card, the 2 of Hearts, flew forward and cleanly severed its head.

The detached head burst into flames the moment it hit the ground.

Remembering what he had witnessed in Peryss, Lumian didn't relax.

Instead, he threw in spirituality and made a small flame appear in his hands. Breathing in again, he took more spirituality and made it bigger. He did this atleast for three times, until it condensed into a big ball of flame.

With that, he brought it down upon the creature's head.

Whoosh!

A hot gust of wind blew across Lumian's face as he finally burned the creature's head beyond recognition.

Wiping the beads of sweat from his forehead, he thought inwardly,

Damn... Berlie's Sun abilities are far more useful.

Sigh. Since we made noise outside in Peryss, she's dealing with the curses attracted by it and waiting for me. I need to get back to her quickly, then return to Lamenti and enter the Cornerstone.

Lumian walked over to the spider's corpse, approached the bookshelf, and picked up the medical kit.

The moment he did, a scream echoed through the school, as his body immediately tensed up.

It was definitely a woman's scream!

Without hesitation, he adjusted his collar and bolted out of the office.

Rushing through the dark hallways, he quickly made his way back to the classroom and pushed the door open.

Shit... The sight before him made his heart sink.

The children were gathered around the teacher, many of them crying. "She's losing consciousness quickly!" one of them cried out.

Lumian stepped into the classroom and looked at Margaret.

At this rate, the curses will start approaching soon. I have to do this fast.

Lumian suddenly bent down and, using the medical knowledge he had learned back when he was still in school, carefully lifted part of her clothing to examine the wound.

Of course, no inappropriate thoughts crossed his mind.

He opened the medical kit and put on a pair of gloves.

After that, he adjusted Margaret's legs slightly, bending her knees a little before taking out a gauze pad and placing it against the wound.

He held it there for several minutes, and gradually, the bleeding began to slow.

Seeing this, he took out a clean cloth from the medical kit, placed it over the wound, and carefully wrapped a bandage around it.

Lumian let out a soft breath and chuckled inwardly.

Am I turning into a surgeon?

Sigh. If my parents hadn't died, I probably would have opened a medical center myself.

Of course, even though I wasn't exactly serious in school, I still got into medicine. Heh.

After finishing, he placed a hand against Margaret's neck and checked her pulse.

Some moments after, he relaxed as she was still breathing.
