Inner peace.
That term was something Elio had never known before. It was merely a vague thought he heard before being promoted by companies to sell their products. Peace, quiet, calm, these were all terms he basically never understood.
For him, life was a constant struggle that didn't stop. His only peace in it was sleep, and even that wasn't that helpful with all the nightmares he suffered for so many years. He was constantly on the edge, constantly fighting something, and constantly tense to the point where he only realizes that when he lies down on the bed.
The very first time Elio felt that peace was in the least place he expected to… Under the ravaging current of a waterfall, when he is getting crushed by its natural forces. That was where he surprisingly felt his head clear up.
