Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 |The Escape

Will had woken up and rushed towards Commodore Norrington to request that they save Elizabeth. Norrington was short with him and didn't listen to his suggestion to ask for Jack's help. Norrington's reasoning was that since the pirates left Jack in his cell, they weren't his allies which is really dumb as that doesn't mean he doesn't know anything that could help them.

Not to mention they already know that Pirates are very much self-serving so they could have easily made a deal for information.

Eventually Will decided to take matters into his own hands and get Jack's help to free Elizabeth. He went to his cell and told him he'd free him if he helped him find the Black Pearl.

"What did you say your name was?" Jack asked.

"Will Turner." Will replied.

"That'd be short for William I'd imagine. no doubt named for your father eh?" Jack said.

"Yes." Will said while looking at Jack suspiciously.

"Uh huh. Well Mr. Turner, I've changed me mind. You help me out of this cell, then I swear on pain of death that I will take you to the Black Pearl and your bonny lass. Do we have an accord?" Jack said as he stuck his hand out for a shake.

"Agreed." Will said after thinking a moment before shaking Jack's hand.

"Very good, now get me out." Jack said.

(Aboard the Interceptor)

Will and Jack had managed their escape and were on their way to find the Black Pearl.

"When I was just a boy living in England, my mother had to raise me by herself. When she died I came out here to look for my father." Will said while sharpening his sword and gauging Jack's reaction.

"Is that so?" Jack said ignoring him.

"My Father, Bill Turner? In jail it was only after I told you my name that you agreed to help, since that's what I wanted, I didn't press the matter, but you are the second person to claim to have known my father."

Will's words finally got Jack to pause. He turned around abruptly and looked almost frenzied as he asked. "Who?!?! Who was it?"

"One of the Pirates aboard the Black Pearl, I met him in Port Royal." Will replied still confused at Jack's reaction.

"Which pirate?? What did he look like?!?!" Jack asked frantically.

"He was tall, he had short black hair and a trimmed beard and eyes as blue as ice." Will said.

Jack turned to look out to sea and seemed to be deep in thought. He then looked back at Will and wanted to get one last piece of information from Will to verify his thoughts.

"Did you get his name by chance?" Jack asked carefully.

"Yes, I believe the other pirates mentioned his name was Dante." Will answered.

"Shit! it had to be him, it couldn't have been Rengetti or the other one." Jack said to himself low enough that Will didn't hear.

Will was going to ask what was going on until Jack seemed to go back to his normal self and obviously wouldn't explain his actions so Will decided to still get his answers.

"I'm not a simpleton Jack, you knew my father." Will said.

Jack was glad for the subject change so he turned to look at Will.

"I knew him. I was probably one of the few who knew him as William Turner. Everyone else called him Bootstrap or Bootstrap Bill." Jack said as he walked around doing checks of the ship.

"Bootstrap?" Will questioned.

"He was a good man, good pirate. I swear you look just like him." Jack said.

"THAT'S A LIE!! My father was a merchent sailor, a good, respectable man who obeyed the law." Will argued.

"He was a bloody pirate, a scallywag." Jack said back.

My father, was NOT a pirate!" Will said as he unsheathed his sword.

"Put it away son, it's not worth you getting beat again." Jack said annoyed.

"You didn't beat me, only one pirate has ever beat me. You cheated, you ignored the rules of engagement, in a fair fight I'd kill you." Will said angrily.

"Well that doesn't give me much incentive to fight fair now does it?" Jack said as he spun the wheel of the ship to cause the Boom to smack into Will and knock his sword from his hand.

"As long as you're just hanging there, you might as well listen. The only rules that matter are these, what a man can do, and what a man can't do. For example, you can believe that your father was a pirate and a good man, or you can't.

But pirate is in your blood boy so you'll have to square with that someday. Now me, I can let you drown, but I can't bring this ship into Tortuga all by me onsies savvy?" Jack said as he talked to Will dangling over the sea.

Jack then spun the wheel back and brought Will back on deck at which point he pointed Will's sword at him and then handed Will his sword from the blade as he said.

"Now, can you sail under the command of a pirate? Or can ya not?"

"Tortuga?" Will questioned.

"Tortuga" Jack said with a grin.
