Woah! How did she catch onto that?? I guess my previous life's memories and personality don't mesh well with a girly lifestyle, so there are times when others notice that.
My little sister had often cautioned me to be careful about it. Not to mention, my Mom outright forbade me from going outside, in fear of my getting misunderstood and attacked as a result.
And, here I am. My first time out in society. My first day with a friend, and I already messed up?
Cooking up a good-sounding excuse quickly, I spoke to Michelle,
"Oh, that? Well, my sister had always wanted a big brother, so I roleplayed as one often since we were young. Haha, I guess those habits show up from time to time. Um, is it a bother?"
I didn't lie to Michelle. Heck, my little sister considered me better than most boys, telling me that I was the 'best of both worlds'; always asking to be pampered and cuddled when we were younger. She even made me dress up as a boy when we slept together to fulfill her fantasies. Such a cutie, isn't she?
"No, that's not weird at all. In fact, it somehow suits you, Monica."
Wow! It suits me?? But, is she just talking about my charm not being feminine enough? Should I be happy about that? Hmm, I am not entirely a woman, with a boyish heart too... Too complicated. Let's just be happy about the compliment.
"I'm happy that you said that. I don't know what I would do if I came across a weirdo..."
Michelle quickly shook her head in denial and spoke up,
"No, no. It isn't strange at all. I think that your manner of speech is very nice. And, kind of cute too..."
Cute? Me?? Well... another compliment, I guess. It's raining compliments, everyone! Things are looking up at last.
Just as my head was lost in the clouds of happiness, Michelle spoke again,
"Oh, right. Monica, let's exchange email addresses. That way, we can talk at home too."
Ohh!! Is it really happening?!
"Really? You don't mind me talking at odd times?"
Michelle giggled at my words and spoke gently,
"Hehehe, why would I mind that? Rather, I look forward to our chat later. Oh, the class chat group has been set up as well. You haven't joined it yet, have you?"
Oh, right. Not yet, I think.
Guessing my reaction, Michelle smiled as she spoke again,
"Leave it all to me! I will make sure to get you connected in no time!"
We quickly exchanged contact info, and later, Michelle helped me get connected to the 'girls only chat group' along with the 'class chat group'.
Alright! Major milestone achieved! I am connected to my peers at last!
All this time, I only had my mom, aunt, and little sister on chat. But now... no more chatbot talk required!
Hehehe, am I getting too excited? Having so many people to contact is an exciting affair, right? After all, I won't be a loner anymore!
"Monica? Is something wrong?"
Michelle peered at my face as she asked curiously.
"Oh, it's nothing much, Michelle. Just that... you are the first non-family person to have your contact in my phone. And... I became very excited. You know, it's like there is someone out there for me at last..."
Michelle became silent when I spoke, so I tried to quickly shake off the gloomy conversation.
"Sorry about that. It's nothing all that serious. Hahaha..."
As I was trying to divert the topic, Michelle took me into her arms as she hugged me and patted my back in consolation. Her warmth and fragrance spread around my body, increasing my restlessness even further.
Hey, junior. Just lay low and don't blow my cover here. No need to intrude on our ladies' talk, you brute.
As I tried to suppress my natural reactions, becoming troubled due to my own unique circumstances, Michelle's serious face soon broke into a smiling one as she spoke to me in a gentle tone,
"It's nothing strange. Nothing to be ashamed of. It's really normal for friends to stay connected. That would naturally make me happier too."
"Really?"
The last of my disbelief crumbled away at seeing Michelle's nod, making me bury my face into her neck.
Hehe, friend! Michelle really, truly believes us to be friends!
