A few chapters ago, we just saw Sunless become a [Monarch of Shadows] by absorbing the Shadow Lineage. However, we haven't yet talked about its traits and benefits.
Let's take a look at them together!
First of all, Shadow God is the God of shadows, peace, death, solace and mysteries.
So, these are the traits that grant Sunless the following powers:
-[Shadow]-------> Trait: [Flesh of Shadow]
{The first trait of the Shadow lineage is precisely what grants Sunless supreme authority over shadows, as well as the subsequent evolution of his [Child of Shadows] attribute into [Monarch of Shadows]. This is further complemented by the resulting enhancement of all his shadow-related abilities—such as Shadow Sense, Shadow Augmentation, Shadow Manipulation, Shadow Step, and so on. This trait also allows Sunless to heal slightly when shrouded in shadows, as well as enhancing all his physical and mental attributes. It grants high immunity against shadow attacks and significant resistance to death.}
-[Peace]-------> Trait: [Peacemaker]
{Fundamentally, the shadows find greater comfort in residing within him and seek his finality. Furthermore, Sunny acquires more shadow fragments when he kills an enemy—whether human or abomination.}
-[Death]-------> Trait: [Shadow Blade]
{This trait grants Sunless immunity to corruption. He can access a reduced version of "Will of Death" to bypass opponents' resistance and willpower. Additionally, he can use strike shadows.}
-[Solace]-------> Trait: [Harbinger of Solace and Death]
{This grants Sunless minor abilities regarding the shades within his Soul Sea, allowing him to empower, shape, or absorb them to obtain more shadow fragments. Furthermore, the shadows of anyone who dies within the range of his Shadow Sense—while it is active—will automatically be drawn into the dark depths of his Soul Sea like moths to a lantern's light, rather than slipping directly into the Shadow Realm.}
-[Mysteries]-------> Trait: [Mystery Keeper]
{This final trait deals more with knowledge. It provides Sunless with insights regarding the Shadow Dance and what it means to be a true, complete Divine Shadow. It grants him an affinity for Shaping sorcery and allows him to elude visions and prophecies, while also making him more stealth and veiled when within the shadows.}
As for the benefits, these are aspects we can observe and confirm as the story unfolds. First and foremost, when Sunless is in the Shadow Realm, his powers are at their zenith.
Furthermore, even when he grants his shadow creatures freedom by bestowing his cores upon them, they remain unwaveringly loyal to him and can continue to draw upon his Soul sea to regenerate and recover.
One of the most well-known benefits is the change to his [Shadow Bond]. Then there are all the other advantages that come with absorbing a complete divine lineage—benefits the original novel has already detailed.
[The Shadow] coexists with [The Weave] within him. Thanks to the plan outlined by Nether, Sunless can access the benefits of both without one hindering or consuming the other.
Unfortunately, this does not diminish his bond with the Forgotten God—Dream. So, for everyone's sake, Lost from Light still needs to keep a low profile.
