WHAT?! HE KILLED IT! CASTILLIN ACTUALLY SLEW ANOTHER FULLY GROWN ACROMANTULA! WITH A SWORD! IT WAS ACTUALLY NOT A COINCIDENCE!"
Almost all male audience members stood up, goosebumps rippling from their arms right up to their necks.
Cheers and shouts of filled with adrenaline started pouring out one after another, many males no longer caring about Lucas not being the one they were supposed to support.
"He is actually using Sword! And winning! How long has it been since this has happened! We have confirmed that the spells cast on his blade were for enhancing its cutting power! This is BRILLIANT! But WAIT! Castilin is now in Danger!"
As soon as he landed, he had four more car-sized Acromantulas like the one he just dispatched right in front, waiting for him.
Mandibles descended upon him before he had even stabilized himself, too many to cut down at once.
Lucas rolled to the side and his sword flashed twice, cutting through the joints of the four of the legs of the left most spider. Its body leaned to the side and Lucas hid behind it as the other Arachnids showered it with thick webs, pincers and venom.
He suddenly emerged from the other side and swung his sword, cutting the head of another spider, and going under its belly.
His pupils narrowed as his mind made rapid calculations. His wand appeared in his left hand which he pointed behind while still in a prone position.
'Expulso Stream!'
He used his very first spell. The pre-absorbed Expulso spells - the same one which had got him in the ribs - were compressing in a continuous stream which propelled him in the opposite direction.
His other hand held his sword upright, tightening his grip.
Lucas slid past the bodies of the remaining two spiders, his sword cutting through their vulnerable belly without any resistance.
He emerged from the other side - now even closer to the egg and used the momentum to get a running boost.
"Castillin ducks! Splits the legs of one of them! The others are upon him! He rolled under another one! OH IT'S HEAD FELL OFF! When did THAT happen?! AND–"
"WHATTTTT???!!!!"
"WHAT AM I WATCHING?! WHAT! WAS! THAT!"
"ONLY ONE WORD COMES TO MIND: KING ARTHUR and GODRIC GRYFFINDOR! Castillin used his very first spell! And slew the other two spiders!"
The thirty thousand strong crowd had gone absolute bonkers.
"This is better than Quidditch!" Lee Jordan yelled and Fred and George Weasley agreed, and their neck and ears red with excitement. The rest of the Gryffindor males were also pumped up.
"That bloke is wielding the sword like Gordric himself!" Said Fred. "The Sword sales are going so high after this!"
Why was the audience cheering so loudly? First of all, all wizarding folks love Quidditch - a violent and physical sport - even more than the magical duels.
And, using a sword for combat might only be done by the Goblins now, but it wasn't always the case.
Godric Gryffindor and his famous Goblin forged sword, and even before him, Arthur Pendragon and his Excalibur were both household names, their stories and legends world famous.
"Forget about that! We're rich if he survives, and even richer if he gets more than 40 points!" Said George, looking at the large amounts of coins piled on his betting stall.
….
Back in the forest, Lucas wasn't as relaxed or excited.
The real threat wasn't these adult Acromantulas.
While running, Lucas suddenly ducked as a blur of limbs whizzed past his head. His sword flashed, bifurcating the 1 metre long arachnid's body from the middle.
His gaze travelled to his surroundings, only to see hundreds more of such shadows scuttling his way at speeds difficult to follow, some of them already airborne, falling on him.
That's right, the real threat was these smaller Acromantulas whose speeds could easily push past 40 mph in short bursts.
To put it in perspective, the human record was 27.8 mph within a hundred meters which could only last a few seconds.
This is why Acromantulas was so scary.
Knowing that escape was impossible, Lucas gathered the pre-absorbed magic from wand.
'Diffindo!'
The energy of multiple Severing spells gathered in his body, which he further refilled and compressed.
'Diffindo Vortex!'
He flexed his wand hand, drawing rapid swipes in the air.
Six fine lines of concentrated cutting energy formed in the air before they disappeared.
Time seemed to slow down. For a moment, the spiders which had almost surrounded Lucas continued to move unabated. But then - the limbs of all spiders within 20 meters separated - crashing in different directions as Lucas emerged from the swarm, unharmed.
Now, for a very brief window of time, the only thing between him and the egg was Skraal and two of its huge royal guards.
These Acromantulas were different, Lucas could tell. The cutting energy waves that had bisected all the lesser arachnids in his path had merely caused minor scratches on the bony white exoskeleton covering their bodies.
'The Queen's Guards.' Their information flashed through Lucas's mind.
Just for another probe, he sent out two more cutting waves which dissipated without harm. Worse still, they actually positioned their mandibles to receive the spells on their femurs, the thickest parts.
'F…'
The scary thing about this was their reaction speed, which he has also been warned about.
'Sword would be useless.'
Lucas realized that he was going to have to use magic for this one. These Arachnids were on a whole different level.
"FLEUR!!!" he yelled. He had limited magic left in his wand. After this rally, he would have to depend on his base spells to survive.
And all this was because Fleur - the cowardly bitch - had backed out at the last instant. Lucas could understand why she was afraid. Any normal person would have already been shitting their pants after hearing about Acromantulas, but she forced herself to keep her cool and prepare honestly.
But the problem was - this tournament was not designed for people with a 'normal' mindset. Especially this task. The result? Fleur freaked out.
With his observation skills, Lucas had seen this situation coming a mile away. But Fleur was just too headstrong and wouldn't listen.
So, Lucas just rolled with it. Because… 'Another life debt would go a long way to taming this headstrong bitch.'
And…
Suddenly, he felt a gust of fiery wind. Looking back, he saw that the white flames had returned, burning away the smaller spiders. And this time, the flames somehow felt stronger, more dangerous.
A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. Another reason: He was optimistic about Fleur's growth.
'NOW!'
Lucas drew the magic out of his wand.
'Explosive Magic.'
'Now, adding in some propulsive magic at the end for speed.'
'Finally, wrap it around concentrated severing magic power.'
Just as the flames drew the attention of the Acromantulas, Lucas raised his wand, channeling the concocted magic.
Three high-speed spells landed accurately, under the bellies of the three spiders.
For a moment, the cameras shook as blinding flashes erupted under the bellies of the Spiders. Then a cloud of dust was created which enveloped Lucas.
Inside, due to the improved eye-sight from Fleur's spell and his flow state, Lucas was able to see the two Guardian Spiders. They were lying upside-down with their bellies exposed, which had numerous lacerations.
They were shrieking in ear piercing cries, their giant mandibles twitching like the branches of the Whomping willow.
'Yep, definitely worked.'
This was Lucas's latest work: Combined spells.
He couldn't yet fuse multiple spells into a single magic, single the resultant energy was too powerful and violet to control.
But then he realized: He didn't need to.
Simply weaving them together was enough.
Like what he did just now. The Expulso at the end boosted the speed of the spell, making it travel at speeds difficult for the Arachnids to block, who were already expected lower speed spells.
The explosion spell gave extra power to the cutting curse, which was flung out like a bullet - piercing the relatively less armored abdomen.
They didn't exactly die, but it was enough to take them out for the count. As he weaved passed their tangle of limbs, he finally came face to face with Skraal, who had been hidden from his gaze due to its bodyguards.
'What the--!'
His first impression was similar to Fleur's when she saw his cock: Big.
It was about 20 feet, and the legs were like tree trunks. Forbidden Forest Tree trunks. Bones of various animals webs over its thick, impenetrable exoskeleton.
It was not dead, and it was not on its belly. But… It was definitely in pain. The ground shook and its mandibles stomped on it, while its shrieks caused a terrible ringing in his ears and temples.
Taking advantage of its disorientation, Lucas slipped past it, entering its liar. Inside, all see saw at first was eggs. Black, pulsating round objects covered in slimy substances - the size of his head.
There were Hundreds… no… thousands of them, stuck to every corner with webs. The ground was littered with bones and half-eaten carcasses. Centaurs, Thestrals, Firecrabs, Hagrid's Blast-ended screwts… these were the ones he could recognize.
But lying among the bones, he found it - a glowing egg seemingly made out of black chitin!
