Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 Disappeared Ta

The time-travelling ninja had actually chosen to help the Sound ninja!

Did that mean the time traveler's faction was hostile to Konoha—and intended to attack them?

Sakura caught onto this instantly. Before she could think it through, she saw Zaku raise both arms, his face twisting into a savage grin as the hollow openings in his palms were revealed.

"Decapitating Air Wave!"

The air in front of Zaku visibly warped. A violent pressure blast tore toward Sakura.

Boom!

Sakura's body was shredded by the compressed air—only to dissolve into a pool of water.

"A clone?"Zaku's scalp tingled with alarm. He saw Dosu wrapped tightly in Rock Lee's bandages, slammed into the ground like a spinning drill!

Zaku shouted, realizing the situation was spiraling out of control—but before he could react, a powerful gust struck from behind. He ducked instinctively, narrowly avoiding Sakura's real body as her heavy punch swept past his head.

If it had landed cleanly, his skull would have split open on the spot.

Ding—

A crisp bell sound suddenly rang out.

Sakura turned and saw Kin charging straight toward Lee and Dosu. Her eyelids twitched violently—she hadn't expected this.

Her thoughts raced.Did dragging Zaku around change the course of events… and force Kin to act early?

That had to be it. In the original story, before the Konoha reinforcements arrived, Ino had been suppressing Sakura the whole time. Kin never had the chance to intervene—she could only grab Sakura's hair to help her escape.

Sakura was about to move to stop her—

But the scene before her suddenly warped.

In the blink of an eye, Kin appeared right in front of Sakura.

"Zaku!" Kin shouted, flinging a storm of senbon toward her.

An illusion!

Sakura's mouth twitched. She dodged the needles and lunged toward Zaku. At that critical moment, Zaku slammed his hands into the ground, sending loose soil blasting toward where Dosu had fallen.

"We have to pursue—!" Zaku shouted through clenched teeth.

But the clear ringing of the bell echoed again, and dizziness washed over him.

Sakura rushed in from behind, about to knock him out—literally—when her vision split into two. For a moment, she couldn't tell which Zaku was real.

Too late.

"Boom!!!""Boom!!!"

Two deafening explosions rang out.

One came from Lee's direction. Dosu narrowly survived, his head slamming into soft ground and escaping with only minor injuries.

The other blast came from Zaku's side.

He was blown backward violently, his chest visibly caved in. Blood burst from his mouth, thick crimson spraying across the pink-haired girl's cheek.

The heavy metallic stench flooded Sakura's nose, making her stomach churn.

She forced herself to adjust, spinning around to grab Lee and evade Dosu's sudden counterattack.

Though Dosu had survived the close-quarters chaos, Zaku was effectively taken out of the fight—still a gain for Dosu.

I almost feel bad for Shino, Sakura thought. In the original story, he stepped on me to show off. Now his presence is probably even weaker…

"Lee, take a break. I'll handle these two," Sakura said, pushing him aside.

Lee, who had been eager to show off, was startled by her strength. Reluctantly, he stepped back to recover.

Sakura… she really is worthy of being the woman I admire, Lee thought fervently.

Sakura scanned the battlefield again. Dosu and Kin both looked tense and distorted—only deepening her confusion.

Why hadn't the time traveler acted?

If he were truly an enemy, this was the perfect opportunity to strike decisively. Yet all he had done was taunt them with messages—no direct intervention.

Sakura put herself in his shoes. If she were the time traveler, she would have acted the moment Sakura was attacked—or ambushed Sasuke from behind. Even dismantling the traps would have made sense.

But he had missed this golden opportunity.

That meant he had another priority.

Was it because of Orochimaru that he couldn't directly harm Sasuke? Then why not attack me instead?

With too few clues, Sakura abandoned speculation and refocused on the two enemies before her.

At that moment, thick purple smoke suddenly billowed from Sasuke's body. His eyelids twitched violently—he was on the verge of waking up.

"From now on, Konoha's advantage will only keep growing…" Sakura muttered, her tension rising. She sensed that something unexpected was about to happen—whether Sasuke woke up or not.

"Incredible skill…" Dosu muttered, staring at Lee and Sakura with barely concealed fear and rage.

After just one exchange, Zaku had been reduced to this state.

Dosu rolled up his sleeves again, steeling himself for battle.

He charged forward—

And saw the girl slam her fist into the ground.

Boom!!

A massive crack split the earth, severely disrupting Dosu's movement. At the same time, faint flames erupted beneath his feet.

Land mines.

Sakura had manually detonated the explosives buried underground.

Boom!!

In mere seconds, the battlefield was utterly destroyed. Grass and trees were reduced to nothing, leaving behind gray earth, swirling dust, and total devastation.

But Dosu's footsteps grew clearer.

He looked up—just in time to see Sakura hurl massive boulders into the air, smashing them apart with a single punch and sending the fragments hurtling toward him.

She knew she couldn't close the distance, so she kept her range and searched for an opening.

Dosu used the holes in his arms to deflect the flying debris, but the constant impacts forced him to pour more and more chakra into countering her attacks, pulverizing everything around him.

The battle devolved into a brutal standoff.

Less a contest of technique—and more a test of endurance.

Either Kin would run out of chakra first, or Sakura would collapse from exhaustion.

And clearly, the latter outcome favored Sakura.

Sasuke's awakening was only a matter of time. And if she remembered correctly, Tenten and Neji were also moving this way. Even if they clashed, there would be no real loss.

In her previous life, Sakura had learned a method for dealing with wandering-type bosses: equip everything for bleed damage, ignore dodging entirely, and go all-out. When health dropped low, heal immediately.

A strategy known simply as maximum DPS.

Just as the stalemate reached its peak, the clear ringing of the bell echoed once more, making both fighters dizzy.

"I knew you'd try this again—but so what? I'm still winning—"

Before she could finish, Sakura froze.

The ringing stopped.

She stared blankly at Dosu.

Dosu stared back—then suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest.

He looked down.

A kunai stained with black blood protruded from his chest.
