Chapter 25 - [25] Childish Rage, Adult Indifference

Madam Hooch was a woman with eagle eyes.

Her neat short hair and golden eyes highlighted her sharp personality.

She was not only the professor of Hogwarts' flying class, but also the referee of Quidditch matches.

Good afternoon, students!

"Good afternoon, Madam Hooch."

Madam Hooch walked briskly through the Slytherin and Gryffindor crowd.

"Let's begin the first lesson."

"What are you waiting for? Everyone stand to the left of the flying broomstick."

"Action! Hurry up!"

Most of the freshmen were experiencing flying broomsticks for the first time, and they curiously followed Madam Hooch's instructions to stand on the left.

Argus still didn't understand why Hogwarts made flying a compulsory course.

If this had happened a few hundred years ago, before technology had advanced, it would have been fine.

Now, even the magic buses were in use, and the Ministry of Magic knew to use elevators.

Why did he have to fly around on a broomstick?

Unfortunately, most students were very enthusiastic about flying broomsticks, and even if Argus didn't like them, he couldn't get the school to change things for him.

Once everyone was in position, Madam Hooch continued speaking.

"Put your right hand over the broom and say 'Up!'"

"Up!"

"Up!"

"..."

The lawn was covered with the word "Up."

Harry was the first to summon his broom; with just one shout, the broom flew into his palm.

Draco followed closely behind.

Argus suddenly realized...

It seemed his system's talent point allocation didn't include any flight talent!

No matter how hard he shouted, the broom under his feet didn't budge an inch.

As his classmates succeeded one by one with their brooms, Argus had to accept a fact.

He might be the first student in Hogwarts history unable to use a flying broom.

But this was good, because now he'd have an excuse to skip classes and spend more time in the library.

"Mr. Grindelwald, you…"

Madam Hooch looked strange.

She seemed to have never expected that this genius student, praised by countless professors, would turn out like this in front of her.

"As you can see, Madam Hooch."

Argus shrugged, indicating that he had done his best.

"I don't seem to have any talent for flying."

"Poor child!"

"There's no need to be discouraged; this has happened more than once in the UK."

Madam Hooch sighed and patted Argus' head with pity.

"If you don't mind, why don't you rest on the lawn for a bit?"

"I will discuss with Professor Snape later and allow you to attend other classes during your flight class time."

"Thank you for your comfort, Madam Hooch."

Argus's expression was indifferent, and one could even see a hint of disappointment.

In reality, he was overjoyed.

What seemed like a misfortune might actually be a blessing in disguise!

He had originally been thinking about how to ask Madam Hooch to let him skip class, but she had just handed him the opportunity.

"Well!"

"Why don't you go and rest for a bit?"

Madam Hooch let out a long sigh, drawing countless sympathetic glances to Argus.

For most students, life without the ability to use flying brooms was simply unimaginable.

Argus didn't care at all.

He happily ran to the lawn, lay down, took out his fifth-grade Potions textbook, and enjoyed the warm sunshine.

"Everyone! Quiet!"

"Now, grab your brooms and get on them."

"Hold on tight, don't slip! When I blow the whistle, push off the ground and you'll be airborne!"

With Neville out of the way and Draco and Harry not arguing, the flying lesson went exceptionally smoothly.

Madam Hooch looked with satisfaction at the little wizards hovering in mid-air.

"Students, I'm going to the castle to get something now. You can enjoy the fun of flying freely on this lawn."

"Remember, this applies only to this lawn!"

"Anyone who dares to cross the castle will not be spared!"

As soon as the words were spoken, many young wizards excitedly began various flying competitions.

The two Parvati sisters rode brooms, wobbling and lingering not far from Argus.

Their eyes revealed worry.

"Argus, are you...are you alright?"

Argus, who was reading a book, looked towards the two at the sound.

They seemed to suddenly remember something and hurriedly jumped off the broom.

"Slow down, be careful not to fall."

Argus closed the book and cast a levitation spell on the two of them to help them regain their balance.

"I'm fine. If I can't ride a flying broom, so be it. I can just learn Apparition sooner."

"Hogwarts can't possibly turn me away just because I can't ride a flying broomstick!"

"Pfft!"

The two girls were amused by Argus's joke.

"You're the professors' darling; they won't let you go."

Parvati's eyes sparkled like little stars.

As a young girl experiencing the first stirrings of love, the perfect image of Argus was deeply imprinted in her mind.

At the same time, many people recalled the help that Argus had given them that morning.

The thought that he was currently sad because he couldn't use his flying broom made them feel guilty as they watched him.

A feeling of guilt welled up inside them.

They quietly lowered their altitude and flew towards Argus.

"Argus, it's okay if you can't ride a flying broom. There's Floo Powder for long distances and Apparition for close distances. It won't interfere with your daily life."

"Yes, and flying brooms can't protect you from the wind and rain. If it suddenly rains while you're in the air, you won't even have a chance to take shelter."

"My uncle's friend encountered this situation before and almost got struck by lightning!"

"..."

Everyone was trying to comfort Argus in their own way.

Extending their goodwill to him.

This scene, witnessed by Ron, drove him mad with jealousy!

Why him?!

Why did he receive complaints and accusations when he made a mistake that morning?

When it was Argus's turn, all these people offered comfort!

What he found even more unacceptable was that a large number of these people were members of Gryffindor.

He couldn't help but mutter curses under his breath.

"Traitors, a bunch of Gryffindor traitors!"

"What kind of potion did that evil Slytherin give you?!"

"Weasley! What did you say?!"

Upon hearing this, Draco immediately flew into a rage, threw down his broom, and strode toward Ron.

"Isn't what I said true!"

Ron's temper flared up as well.

His conflict with Argus began on the train.

Both being freshmen, Argus attracted countless people's attention and respect, while he could only follow Harry around.

When people mentioned him, their first thought was that he was Harry's friend.

Especially after today's class, the students' contrasting attitudes towards the two individuals.

His jealousy had reached its peak.

Now that he finally had a chance to mock Argus, how could he possibly let it go?

To Ron's surprise, his words not only failed to gain the approval of others, but instead attracted countless disgusted looks.

Even Harry stood in front of him, clearly annoyed.

"Ron, Argus is a friend of Gryffindor! He saved one of our classmates!"

"Who knows if he's just pretending to be a good guy on purpose!"

Argus smiled slightly and ignored him completely.

He was calming down the other angry little wizards.

What adult would get angry with a child?

Just a little kid seeking attention; Argus didn't have that much time to bother with or discipline him.

Let Dumbledore and Harry worry about it.

Argus's indifferent gaze did not dispel Ron's resentment; instead, it stirred up his inner inferiority complex!

His flushed face was almost the same color as his hair.

His expression twisted with jealousy.

Ignoring Harry's attempts to stop him, he mounted his broomstick and charged toward Argus!
