VANGARDE POLICE RECORDS:
"ON THE SIXTEENTH DAY OF THE THIRD LUNAR MONTH, THE CITY'S MOST DANGEROUS CRIMINAL, THE BLOOD PHANTOM, ESCAPES THE POLICE ONCE AGAIN."
*****
[TWO HOURS AGO]
It had already begun to rain. The police, just arriving on horseback immediately opened the gates and rushed into themansion.
Upon opening the door, they found the body of the master of the mansion laying lifelessly in a pool of blood, just as the mistress had reported. A red rose last next to the man: The signature of the Blood Phantom's cruel acts.
The inspector instantly became furious.
"Find him!!" The inspector barked orders to his men.
The sweet sounds of violin strings vibrating from the touch of a bow filled the entire building, starting some of the officers.
"Search everywhere!" The inspector kept barking as he himself moved from room to room, his legs suffering from the enormous weight they carried. "Don't stop looking!!"of
The solemn music of the violin kept sounding. Even as the officers searched each and every room, going deeper and deeper into the mansion, the sweet, intoxicating sound of the violin maintained a steady loudness. Like the person playing was following each and every one of them closely.
Atop the roof of this mansion, bathed in moonlight but also soaked by the heavy rainfall, stood a man wearing glasses, earnestly playing the violin even as rainwater bathed him.
"Sir!" One of the officers called the attention of the inspector, saluting as he did. "We... we .. haven't found him sir."
The half-bald, middle-aged inspector let out a cry of anger.....
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGH"
"Why can't you dimwits do anything right!!!? Hah!?"
The sound of the violin kept eating away at the last bit of sanity the inspector had. Veins had already appeared all over the inspector's face, bulging out of his skin.
Suddenly..... the violin stopped.
The inspector and all the other police officers knew what this meant: The countdown was over and the Blood Phantom would make his swift escape.
*****
"Haah....." Lucius exhaled as he loosened his tie. "Another job well done." A smile emerged on his lips.
His smile faded as he heard the police still looking for the culprit of the murder.
"Find him! He couldn't have gone far." The inspector was still looking for him.
"Excuse me, sir....." One of the officers stopped Lucius, suspecting if he could be the Phantom.
"Is there a problem?" Lucius asked with a plain look on his face.
"Ah, I'm so sorry sir." The officer said as he took a full look at Lucius, now seeing the expensive suit he was wearing. Seeing that he was so properly dressed asides from the rain, the officer completely ruled out the fact that he could be the Phantom.
"Since there's no problem, I should get going." Lucius said.
"Yes, of course." The officer said as he moved out of his path.
*****
"CLACK!!"
The door made a clicking sound as Lucius opened it.
"I'm back....." he said out loud.
"Keep it down, dufus. I'm trying to take a nap here." A seductive, feminine voice replies him.
"Is there ever a time when you're not taking a nap?" Lucius asks.
"I'm case you haven't realized yet..... cats don't sleep while drinking milk."
A large cat jumped down from one of the chairs in the living room and walked over to the dining area to grab a seat. (Three meters tall to be precise.)
"I presume you brought the milk?" The cat asks.
"Yeah, I got your milk." Lucius replies as he took out a carton of milk from the plastic bag he was holding. "It now comes in cartons." He said, taking a seat opposite the cat.
"Oooohh... Fancy." Says the cat as he opens it up with it's paws and starts drinking like it was a person.
"You know, Meriam....." Lucius started as he took out another carton of milk and opened it. "... I've really wanted to ask, are you a talking cat or a....."
"As I said before, young man..." She said before taking another sip of her milk. "Don't bother yourself with such trivial matters."
"Sure, dodge the question as much as you want," Lucius leans closer to Meriam. "I'll still find out eventually, my dearest Meriam."
"Ah, you're such a gentleman....." Meriam started. "But sometimes you can be sooooo pesky." Merriam's eyes suddenly widen like she just remembered something, then a smirk appeared on her face. "What about your special someone?"
"You mean the princess?" Lucius asked. "She's not my 'special someone' we just happen to be acquainted. We're basically business partners."
"Sure, that's what you say now, but sooner or later you won't be able to hold in those feelings."
"Say what you want." Lucius said as he picked up his empty milk container and throws it away. "I'm heading to bed. See you tomorrow, Meriam."
"Good night, Lucius." Meriam replies.
*Merriam's POV*
Lucius Albane. A cool, handsome, rich guy who happens to be able to don a suit.
He's a cold guy, but sometimes he can be very warm and compassionate. He almost seems like an angel.
He's a criminal. Apparently the most dangerous one in the whole city with a bounty of 25 mil on his head. He kills, he steals and does other stuff.
But more importantly, he's a good guy. Well, in general.
Even if the world is against him, I'll forever be by his side.
