Chapter 43 - Creator’s Reward

The ancient chamber beneath the eastern districts had gone silent.

Not truly silent.

The deep heartbeat was still there.

It pulsed beneath the stone, slow and distant, like something enormous sleeping beneath the foundations of the world.

Chrono stood in the center of the ruined chamber, staring at the black arrowhead resting inside his palm.

Its unnatural mana had disappeared.

For now.

The Beast Shepherd had already returned to the surface with Garron and the remaining refugees. Borin, the Dwarven Master, had remained near the chamber entrance, studying the faint glow spreading through the walls.

Chrono, however, had noticed something else.

A familiar presence.

A pressure he had ignored for far too long.

He opened his System.

The moment the translucent screen appeared, notifications began filling his vision.

One.

Then five.

Then dozens.

Then hundreds.

Chrono's expression slowly became blank.

"...Oh."

The screen continued expanding.

\[System Notifications: 1,284 unread.\]

Chrono stared at the number.

"...That's excessive."

Another notification appeared.

\[The user has neglected System updates for an extended period.\]

\[The System recommends reviewing important notifications.\]

Chrono rubbed his forehead.

"Don't sound so offended."

The System did not respond.

Instead, the notifications reorganized themselves into categories.

Chrono's eyes widened as he read the first section.

\[Major Historical Deviations Detected.\]

\[Original Event: The Fall of Lionhart Kingdom.\]

\[Current Result: Lionhart Kingdom remains operational.\]

\[Cause: The 10th Demon Commander was defeated before the scheduled invasion.\]

\[Historical Record: Altered.\]

\[Reward: Fame increased.\]

\[Reward: Plausibility increased.\]

\[Additional reward calculation pending.\]

Chrono blinked.

"...That happened a long time ago."

The next notification appeared immediately.

\[Original Event: The Fall of Azure Cloud Kingdom.\]

\[Current Result: Azure Cloud Kingdom remains operational.\]

\[Cause: The 5th Demon Commander's campaign was interrupted.\]

\[Historical Record: Altered.\]

\[Reward: Fame increased.\]

\[Reward: Plausibility increased.\]

Chrono slowly lowered his hand.

The System continued.

\[Original Event: The destruction of MistHaven's internal supply network.\]

\[Current Result: MistHaven's collapse delayed.\]

\[Cause: User intervention in political, military, and logistical affairs.\]

\[Historical Record: Altered.\]

\[Reward: Fame increased.\]

\[Reward: Plausibility increased.\]

Then another.

\[Original Event: The 10th Commander absorbs excessive ambient mana and completes Mana Devastation.\]

\[Current Result: Commander eliminated through forced overload.\]

\[Method: Exploitation of known weakness.\]

\[Reward: Combat achievement recorded.\]

\[Reward: Lore deviation recorded.\]

Chrono's mouth twitched.

"So the System really does track consequences."

He scrolled through the notifications.

The System had recorded every major event he had influenced.

The Ancient Tomb Wraith.

The survival of Lionhart.

The creation of Gran and Glask.

The discovery of the Aura Sword foundation.

The intervention in MistHaven.

The survival of Azure Cloud.

The defeat of powerful demons.

The appearance of the black arrowhead.

Even Vael's battle with the Minotaur had been included.

\[The 8th Demon Commander has been identified.\]

\[The 8th Demon Commander has been defeated by Vael.\]

\[User influence detected through indirect historical interference.\]

\[Historical Record: Altered.\]

Chrono's eyebrows rose.

"Indirect influence?"

He looked toward the chamber entrance.

Vael had not been present during the battle against the Minotaur because he had pursued his own objective. Yet Chrono's actions had changed the conditions surrounding the battle.

The System had apparently counted that too.

Not merely what Chrono had killed.

What he had caused.

A new window appeared.

\[Major Historical Deviations: 9\]

\[Minor Historical Deviations: 47\]

\[Recorded Lives Saved: 1,936\]

\[Recorded Fates Altered: Numerous\]

\[World Influence: Increasing\]

Chrono stared at the figures.

For a moment, the chamber seemed colder.

He had never thought of his actions as a list.

He remembered faces instead.

The soldiers who had survived Lionhart.

The civilians in MistHaven.

The Beastkin refugees.

Gran sleeping near the fire.

Glask standing silently at his side.

The System reduced all of it to numbers and categories.

But the numbers still meant something.

Chrono exhaled.

"...Fine. Show me the rewards."

The screen shifted.

\[Accumulated rewards are ready for distribution.\]

\[Level requirement fulfilled.\]

\[Level increased.\]

\[Current Level: 30 → 37\]

\[Remaining Stat Points: 192\]

\[Health and Mana restored to maximum.\]

\[Serious physical damage has been repaired.\]

\[Minor injuries have been removed.\]

Warmth spread through Chrono's body.

The fatigue that had settled into his bones disappeared. The soreness in his muscles faded. Even the faint ache around his ribs vanished.

His mana surged through his Mana Circle, filling every path with clean, controlled energy.

Chrono clenched his fist.

"...That's convenient."

The System displayed his status.

\[Name: Chrono\]

\[Race: Shapeshifter — Monolian Variant\]

\[Classes: Fighter / Sorcerer\]

\[Level: 37\]

\[Health: Restored\]

\[Mana: Restored\]

\[Strength: 42\]

\[Dexterity: 38\]

\[Intelligence: 45\]

\[Wisdom: 21\]

\[Defense: 36\]

\[Charm: 27\]

\[Arcana: 49\]

\[Agility: 35\]

\[Mental: 34\]

\[Remaining Stat Points: 192\]

Chrono studied the numbers carefully.

His Arcana was already his highest stat, but increasing it endlessly would be foolish. Doom relied on more than magical power. His body needed to survive the strain, and his mind needed to control increasingly complex spells.

He distributed the points slowly.

Strength increased first.

Then Dexterity.

Defense.

Agility.

Mental.

Intelligence.

Wisdom.

Charm.

Finally, he placed the remaining points into Arcana.

The System recalculated his status.

\[Stat allocation complete.\]

\[Combat Force compatibility increased.\]

\[Mana Circle stability increased.\]

\[Creation compatibility increased.\]

\[Spell control increased.\]

Chrono nodded.

He had not created an overwhelming specialist.

He had created someone capable of adapting.

That was more important.

A new notification appeared.

\[Level-up condition fulfilled.\]

\[System skills have been recalculated.\]

\[Doom: Level 2\]

\[Creation: Level 1\]

\[Magic Missile: Level 5\]

\[Combat Force: Level 3\]

\[Mana Circle: Fourth Stage\]

\[New skill development available.\]

Chrono's eyes narrowed.

"New skill development?"

The notification remained incomplete.

\[Additional conditions required.\]

\[Requirement: Further historical deviation.\]

Chrono sighed.

"Of course."

The System never gave him everything at once.

He closed the skill window and opened Creator's Eye.

Two new status panels appeared beside him.

The first belonged to Gran.

The wolf-tiger creature lifted his head from the ground, ears twitching as though he could sense the System examining him.

\[Creation Status: Gran\]

\[Level: 10 → 15\]

\[Health: 24/24\]

\[Strength: 21\]

\[Dexterity: 17\]

\[Intelligence: 10\]

\[Wisdom: 13\]

\[Defense: 17\]

\[Charm: 10\]

\[Arcana: 8\]

\[Agility: 18\]

\[Mental: 19\]

\[Remaining Stat Points: 0\]

\[Skills: Apex Predator, Fury Strike, Force, Camouflage, Detect\]

Chrono whistled softly.

"Not bad."

Gran's body had become denser. His movements were more controlled, and the pressure around him felt sharper than before.

The next panel appeared.

\[Creation Status: Glask\]

\[Level: 1 → 12\]

\[Health: 36/36\]

\[Mana: 52/52\]

\[Strength: 22\]

\[Dexterity: 15\]

\[Intelligence: 14\]

\[Wisdom: 17\]

\[Defense: 19\]

\[Charm: 13\]

\[Arcana: 24\]

\[Agility: 14\]

\[Mental: 18\]

\[Remaining Stat Points: 0\]

\[Skills: Bless, Animation\]

\[Skill development detected.\]

\[Animation has reached an evolutionary threshold.\]

\[Possible evolution routes available.\]

Chrono's expression sharpened.

"Show me."

The screen displayed several descriptions.

\[Animation — Route One: Expanded Control\]

\[Improves the number and complexity of undead servants controlled.\]

\[Animation — Route Two: Corpse Binding\]

\[Allows compatible corpses to be animated as undead servants.\]

\[Animation — Route Three: Echo Preservation\]

\[Allows fragments of memory and combat instinct to remain within an animated corpse.\]

Chrono studied the options.

"Not resurrection," he muttered.

That distinction mattered.

Resurrection would restore a true life.

Animation merely used the remaining physical structure and residual energy of a corpse. It could create a servant, but it could not restore the person who had once lived.

Chrono selected Corpse Binding.

\[Selection confirmed.\]

\[Animation has evolved.\]

\[New limitation: Corpse compatibility depends on condition, mana structure, and available energy.\]

Glask lowered his head.

A faint black aura gathered around his fingers before disappearing.

Chrono then checked Bless.

\[Skill development detected.\]

\[Bless currently affects living targets.\]

\[Possible evolution: Undead Reinforcement.\]

\[Effect: Temporarily strengthens compatible undead targets through divine energy conversion.\]

Chrono's eyes widened.

"Now that's useful."

He selected the evolution.

\[Selection confirmed.\]

\[Bless has evolved into Reinforcing Bless.\]

Glask's armor glowed faintly.

The divine energy no longer rejected his undead body. Instead, it circulated through him in controlled layers, reinforcing his bones, armor, and mana channels.

Glask knelt.

"My lord."

Chrono waved his hand.

"Stand up. You're making this too dramatic."

Gran barked once.

Chrono looked at him.

"Don't encourage him."

The System chimed again.

\[Creation materials detected.\]

\[Compatible combinations available.\]

Chrono's smile slowly returned.

The inventory window opened.

Nine-Tail tails.

Phoenix feathers.

Phoenix Tear.

Orc Ear.

Minotaur Horn.

Ghost Shard.

Gragollia material.

Each item glowed with a different color.

The System began arranging them into possible configurations.

\[Configuration One: Phoenix / Nine-Tail hybrid.\]

\[Configuration Two: Orc / Minotaur hybrid.\]

\[Configuration Three: Spiritual construct using Ghost Shard.\]

\[Configuration Four: Crystal-based lifeform using Gragollia material.\]

Chrono leaned closer.

"...Since when could I make these?"

\[Creation compatibility has increased.\]

\[Additional configurations unlocked through user growth.\]

\[Warning: Not all combinations are stable.\]

\[Warning: Some configurations may produce unpredictable traits.\]

Chrono's smile widened.

Behind him, the ancient chamber pulsed once.

The walls answered with a deep, distant vibration.

The black arrowhead in his hand briefly glowed.

Chrono glanced toward it.

Then back at the System.

Four possible creations waited before him.

Four new lives.

Four new variables that had never existed in the original history.

His eyes narrowed with interest.

"Alright."

He closed his fist around the arrowhead.

"Let's see what we can make."
