Chapter 15 - The Roar

Time flowed relentlessly. As Fulen meditated and lost his sense of time, the cry for help from Bethel Abraham, the greatest ancestor in Abraham Family history, descended upon him.

Although this cry for help from the Abraham Family ancestor was unbearably intense, Fulen did not experience a pain that made him wish for death. At most, the pain was comparable to the terror he felt after exhausting his Spirit, as if he were being watched by various malevolent entities.

After experiencing the terror of exhausting his Spirit last time, Fulen felt as if Bethel's roar wasn't so terrifying. Fulen even felt that if it was only this level of intensity, the people of the Abraham Family before him should have at least become Demigods. That being said, Fulen was still in great pain, with each scream challenging his limits of endurance.

At this moment, if anyone were to see Fulen's pupils constantly contracting and expanding due to pain, they would discover a Door composed of layers of brilliant starlight forming a mysterious symbol within his eyes.

After four or five minutes of pain, Fulen felt a refreshing sensation from both body and mind. It was then that Fulen realized his muscles were so tense that his entire body was in severe pain. During those few minutes of screaming, Fulen felt as if his entire body was submerged in water, his clothes soaked with the sweat he had produced.

The pocket watch on the balcony had also been thrown aside by Fulen in his pain. Fulen endured the aversion in his mind to what had just happened, and his body, which was twitching due to the involuntary reactions to the mental pain, dragged himself step by step to pick up the pocket watch. When he opened it, he found that the exact time of this full moon was precisely as Martin had predicted.

Fulen placed the pocket watch on the large table in the room, then, enduring his exhaustion, took a hot bath in the washroom. His clothes were casually tossed outside. Then, acting unconsciously, Fulen used his last bit of strength to climb into bed.

...

No sunlight penetrated the windows of the dim bedroom, but Fulen's waking time the next day was still earlier than the day before. After Fulen rubbed his eyes, he realized it was only seven o'clock in the morning.

Fulen originally wanted to yawn and go back to sleep, but his current excess energy prevented him from doing so. With a reluctant yawn, Fulen climbed out of bed.

After tidying himself up, Fulen, with a strange feeling of combined subjective drowsiness and abundant energy, walked up to the third floor and returned to the study that had given him infinite pain yesterday.

After arranging the pocket watch, the Meteorite Dagger, and the Angel's Gate on the table, Fulen took out a blank notebook he kept at home, preparing to begin recording some of his own experiences, hoping this would help him digest the 'Scribe' potion in the future.

"First, although I appeared somewhat awkward yesterday and indeed felt significant pressure, I didn't feel it was unbearable for an Apprentice. Moreover, as my Sequence increases, my immunity to Mr. Door's roar will surely increase. Could it be that Mr. Door's roar will become more intense as the Sequence increases? Isn't that a death knell? Wait, perhaps at a certain Pathway above Astrologer, a balance will be reached, allowing one to contend with this roar?"

"Speaking of the Door Pathway, the high-Sequence Beyonder I am most familiar with is Fors Wall. She was invited by Klein into Sefirah Castle precisely when she couldn't withstand Mr. Door's roar. At that time, she was only Sequence 9. Does that mean the longer I endure the roar, the greater the threat of Mr. Door's roar I face?"

Fulen shivered as he wrote this, but in an instant, he realized something was off and continued writing.

"No, that's not right. The other members of the Abraham Family would endure more roars, but they didn't lose control. Could it be that by Astrologer, one can already withstand Mr. Door's roar? Is it just that if one continues to advance, one won't be able to keep up with the increasing changes in Mr. Door's roar? But 'Scribe' can be acted in advance, so could there still be inexplicable changes at the 'Scribe' level? Could this be the layers of obstacles Mr. Door created for future generations, or is this the unique disharmony of the 'Door' Pathway?"

As Fulen wrote this, he felt various points that could not be deduced. Fulen could only forcefully suppress his desire to investigate, then wrote down the final concluding sentence.

"No matter what the future Pathway of advancement looks like, the conversation between Bethel and Rosell will definitely affect this roar. It seems only by personally advancing and experiencing it can I confirm my deductions."

After writing the lengthy discourse, Fulen stretched, looked at the pocket watch, and found that not much time had passed. So Fulen rubbed his eyes, then put all his belongings on him, ready to depart.

As Fulen left, he noticed that although there weren't many clothes in his washroom, they had already piled up. Fulen couldn't help but rub his head hard with his knuckles, recalling these trivial matters close to life.

"Should I hire a laundry servant to wash my daily clothes, and then hire a cleaning servant to clean such a large house? No, there are some things I can't let these servants discover." Fulen thought of the mysticism laboratory in the basement and couldn't help but feel a headache.

"Then should I clean and wash clothes myself? Forget it, time is so tight, why bother with these extra things? I'd better hire a temporary worker. So where do I go to hire servants? I'll ask the coachman later. Coachmen who frequently pull carriages in the rich and aristocratic districts usually know about these things. Ugh, what a headache."

After Fulen made up his mind, a weight finally lifted from his heart. Then, with a slight sigh of relief, he pushed open the door.

After waving down a carriage, Fulen said, "Trier National Library, please."

Once the carriage was running smoothly, Fulen said to the coachman, who was clearly skilled and experienced, "Excuse me, if I want to hire some servants, where should I go?"

The coachman, who was clearly not as talkative as yesterday's coachman, seemed surprised by the question. Perhaps he hadn't expected a passenger to speak to a coachman, but after recovering, he continued to drive skillfully while slowly and surely saying, "If you live on Koson Street, then not far from Koson Street, still within the Gold Hansdon District, there is a shop called 'Gold Hanston District Life Improvement Company'. They are an intermediary for wealthy people and laborers, and servants."

"So, do you need to go there first?" the coachman then asked.
