Chapter 127 - Kiss Before Departure

The hotel room had settled into a strange calm. The floating rune-blades above Hikaru hummed faintly, Jaki Onna leaned casually against the wall with a six-pack in hand, and Brush D. Rush sat awkwardly in his shorts, trying to pretend he wasn't completely overwhelmed by everything happening at once.

Hikaru stepped closer, her gaze locking onto Brush. The glow of her katana dimmed slightly, as if acknowledging the seriousness of her next move.

Brush swallowed. "…Hikaru… what—"

She didn't answer with words. Instead, she reached up, cupping his cheek with a careful, steady hand. Her eyes softened, but a shadow of worry lingered in their depths.

"I saw it," she whispered. "The future… the Fetid King will return. And this time… it won't be like before."

Brush felt a chill. He had fought horrors, gods, and corrupted systems, but the raw certainty in her tone made his stomach twist.

Hikaru leaned closer, closing the gap between them. In a fleeting, tender motion, she pressed her lips to his.

It wasn't just affection. It wasn't just desire. It was a promise, a vow:

"I will protect you. No matter what comes. Even if the world falls apart."

Brush's heart raced, caught between the absurdity of waking up in a hotel in shorts, Jaki Onna holding beer, and now… a legendary samurai kissing him.

Mia Rika—Daji—looked away, tails twitching, muttering: "S-sir… maybe… focus?"

Crunchyroller beeped in the corner:

Hikaru pulled back slightly, resting her forehead against his. "We leave now. Every second counts. The Fetid King isn't finished. And neither are we."

Brush nodded, still flustered, still dizzy—but something in him shifted. Determination, purpose, and a strange warmth that no probability, virus, or dark god could erase.

Outside, the digital city of Vikka stretched before them, alive with danger, opportunity, and the next chapter of the Odyssey.

And for the first time in a long while, Brush felt ready.
