"I checked the window just now. Those three haven't left yet. If we go downstairs with the stuff and they see us, what if they really shoot us?"
Lala spoke up.
Hearing this, Drake also felt a bit afraid.
"Damn it. Staying here means starving to death anyway. Let's go. That annoying kid said he already cleared out the nearby zombies. We'll find a shop to hide in and wait for rescue. If no rescue comes, we'll just have some fun."
Drake squeezed Lala's butt.
"Stop fooling around. Let's go."
Lala let out a coquettish laugh and casually picked up the bag of chips on the table that should have belonged to Bob.
"Th-that's Old Bob's…"
Reine said softly. Looking at Bob in his deranged state, she couldn't understand how someone could be so heartless.
"He's got canned food to eat, doesn't he? This was food those three gave to the five of us. We're not full yet, and he's not eating it."
Lala said coldly.
"What, you wanna get beaten up?"
Drake raised his fist threateningly. Reine shrank her neck and didn't dare speak again.
Kanu sighed. He didn't dare provoke a thug like Drake either.
With an arm around Lala's waist and the chips in hand, Drake swaggered out of the museum.
"Those two are absolute scum! Old Bob took such good care of them, and this is how they repay him!"
Reine said angrily.
"The world's grown cold. But they're right about one thing—staying here means starving to death. I'm planning to go out and take a gamble too. What about you? Want to go together?"
Kanu asked Reine. Deep in his gaze, there was a trace of well-hidden desire.
Reine's generous curves had attracted his attention more than once, and her full thighs wrapped in black stockings were more than enough to stir a man's instincts.
Back when he had money, he could get any kind of woman and didn't care much. But now… money was useless, and women like her would become hot commodities.
"I… I'm scared. I'm afraid of those zombies. If I get eaten, I'd rather starve here. I'm not going."
Whether she sensed the desire hidden in Kanu's eyes or was truly frightened, Reine hesitated and shook her head in the end.
"Then I'll be leaving too."
Kanu sighed. The woman was tempting, but he didn't want to starve to death even more.
This cleared-out area was his last chance. He didn't want to stay here waiting to die either.
As long as he survived, he could always find women later.
To be honest, he occasionally sneaked glances at that spicy Lala. She really was something—but that thug was clearly dangerous, so he didn't dare act on it.
He had originally planned to throw some money around after the disaster and have her throw herself at him, but times had changed.
For a moment, the curator's office, now empty of three people, sank into an eerie atmosphere. Bob continued to kowtow tirelessly, a bloody imprint gradually appearing on the floor. Reine sat on the sofa in fear. Though Bob's behavior felt terrifying, going outside to face zombies was even more frightening for a weak woman like her.
---
Drake and Lala were now walking down the road after leaving the museum.
While going downstairs from the curator's office, they had indeed felt uneasy.
But upon reaching the first floor and seeing over a dozen zombie corpses, they gradually relaxed.
Lux hadn't lied. They really had cleared out all the zombies in the museum.
"Come on, babe. Let's find a car and see if it can still run. Walking like this will kill us."
About three hundred meters from the museum, Drake suggested.
"No keys—how are we gonna drive it?"
"I learned how to steal cars before. Just enjoy it, you little minx."
Drake wrapped an arm around Lala's waist and headed toward a Passat parked by the roadside.
Unlike the cautious Lux, Drake and Lala were used to being arrogant. After passing through a safe area, they believed the world had returned to its old order—just without living people.
However, just as Drake reached the driver's door and prepared to smash the window, a shriveled black hand suddenly grabbed his ankle. With a violent yank, Drake screamed and fell to the ground.
"Babe, save me!!!"
As he was dragged toward the underside of the car, Drake reached out desperately toward Lala, hoping she would pull him free, while his left leg kicked wildly.
But the hand gripping his ankle refused to let go.
"Ahhh!!!"
Instead of grabbing his hand, Lala screamed and fled back the way they came.
"Babe, save me! It hurts! Ahhh!"
Drake let out a shrill scream. His right leg had already been grabbed by a zombie with only its upper body left, crouched under the car and gnawing on him excitedly.
The fiery figure fleeing away didn't slow down at his cries—she ran even faster.
"Bitch, I'll kill you! Kill you! If I live, I'll fuck you to death!"
"Bitch, you'll die horribly! Save me… help… help me!!!"
Drake's roars mixed with cries of agony. Snot and tears streamed down his face, but that didn't affect the half-zombie's appetite under the car.
Screaming at the top of her lungs, Lala used every ounce of strength she had and sprinted straight back into the museum.
Once inside, she trembled and curled up in a corner. Only then did she truly realize how terrifying the outside world was.
Now, all she wanted was to hide in this safe place and survive.
On the other side, Kanu reached the parking lot, got into his BMW, and drove away from the museum.
Seeing Lala return alone in a panic, Reine immediately understood what had happened. She rushed to the office door, shut it, and with great effort dragged several chairs over to block it.
Throughout the entire process, Bob continued his relentless kowtowing—
bang, bang, bang.
