Chapter 14 - Tell me it's a Dream

Chapter 14

Torrence Mansion

"Jealous? Na I am not jealous," Eric replied.

"Oh really?" Hailey asked.

Before Hailey could see anything else, a guard came to inform them about someone's arrival.

"Ma'am, sir, the Nathan's family is here, and they are asking for Miss Zinnia," the guard said.

"Let them in," Hailey said.

"You, come here. Go upstairs and inform the girls," Hailey said to one of the maids.

The girls to room

"Zinnia, look at the matching joggers! It'll surely look good on the three of us," Hazel said.

"You know Emory would be surprised, you know? Your ideas of buying stuff are always good. You're smart, Zinnia said.

As they were talking, they suddenly heard a knock on the door.

"Who's there?" Hazel asked.

"Madam said I should inform you that the Nathan's are here. She also asked me to call you down," the maid replied.

"Okay, we'll be right there," Hazel said.

Downstairs in the living room

As Emory and her parents arrived at the Torrence Mansion, Hazel and Zinnia were already walking down the stairs.

"Zinnia!" Emory called, running to hug her.

"Hey, do you miss me that much? You shouldn't have brought your parents," Zinnia said, hugging her back.

"Zinnia, I have something to tell you," Emory said seriously.

"Say it," Zinnia replied.

"Remember when we first met?" Emory asked.

"Is that thing wrong? Why do you look like you just got the shock of your life?" Zinnia asked playfully.

"Zinnia, I'm serious. My parents just told me I had a twin sister. They said she's in Glory's Orphanage, and her name is Zinnia," Emily explained.

Hazel's eyes widened. "Yeah, really?"

"Yes, Hazel. Zinnia is my twin sister. When we went to the orphanage, they said she got adopted by you and Hailey," Emory replied, tears falling from her eyes.

Hazel smiled, tears in her eyes. "Yay, I knew it! And didn't I tell you she might be your sister? But no, you keep denying – my instinct doesn't lie."

Zinnia's eyes sparkled. "Really? You mean you are my sister? Please tell me this isn't a dream. I don't want it to be a dream!"

Emory hugged her. "No, Zinnia. It's not a dream."

Their reunion was interrupted by Emily call.

"Hazel, Emily called."

"Yes, Mom?" Hazel replied.

Emily took a deep breath. "I think this is the right time to tell you something, Hazel."

"What, Mom?" Hazel asked.

"Hazel. I'm sorry, but I have cancer, and I have only this month left to live. And... I'm not actually your real mother. I only saved you in a fire accident when you were just five," Emily explained.

Hazel's face crumbled. "No, no! This is impossible! You're lying, Mom! About the cancer... you just tell me it's a prank, right? Just tell me everything you just told me isn't the truth!"

Hailey intervened. "Hazel, I'm sorry. Your mom didn't mean to hide it from you. She was just worried about your health and how you'd react."

Hazel screamed, tears streaming down her face. "No! She lied to me!".

Hailey assistant approached, holding a DNA test result. "Ma'am, the result..."

Hailey took it, shocked. "It's a DNA test of Hazel and Zinnia."

"For who and why?" Emily asked.

Hailey explained, "When I first saw you two, you looked alike, so I pulled a strand of your hairs each and had a DNA test done."

"What does it say?" Emily asked.

Hailey voice shook. "It's 99.9% related."

Zinnia's eyes widened. "So, you mean Hazel's our sister?"

Emily said, "That's what the result says."

Nooooo, you guys are just pranking me, you are all liars, I don't believe this, Hazel screamed her tears increasing as she ran out of the mansion.

Hazel, Hazel, wait where are you going stop, Zinnia and Emory screamed wanting to run after her.

Wait don't follow her I'm sure she's not ready to face any of us here even you two, Emily said stopping them.

Kenzie who had been watching everything from the stairs, secretly followed Hazel.

River side

Hazel ran to the riverside near the Torrance mansion.

"No," she screamed. "I'm sure everyone's just joking, right?" she said to herself. "I'm a fool," she thought. "After all they've told me, I'm still lying to myself. Let me just end everything right here."

As she was about to jump into the river, Kenzie came into view.

Do you think suicide can stop all this, just face reality Hazel, Kenzie said.

"Hey, mind your business jerk, " Hazel screamed.

"Don't, Hazel. At least think of your mom. Let her live her remaining days seeing you happy. Do you think she'll die happy after seeing your corpse?" Kenzie said.

"She's not my mom," Hazel screamed.

"But she saved you, she raised you, Hazel," Kenzi replied.

Hazel sat down on the grass near the riverside. "Why must it be me, Kenzie? Why? Explain, tell me," she asked.

Kenzie sat beside her, pulling her into a hug, "Hey, girl, don't say that. You're really cool."

Hazel tried hard not to cry. "Is there a way Mom can't leave me? Tell me, she said... Mom, please tell me," Hazel said, tears falling.

You know some years back i had a girlfriend but she was not only a girlfriend to me she was also my best friend, but i lost her cus of my selfishness, she had an accident on her way to see me, i cried alot back then,i still cry even when i remember but i believe she's not dead my parents and her parents are still searching and i hope we find her soon, Kenzie said trying to force his tears from falling.

"Let it out, Hazel. Let your tears fall," Kenzie added.

Hazel finally broke down. "Why?" she sobbed.

You must really think I'm weak after seeing me cry, Hazel said.

"Hey, tears don't show weakness. They show how strong you are. It's okay to cry," Kenzie said.

Hazel wiped her tears. "You must think I'm weak because of my tears, right? Leave, I hate it when someone sees me cry."

Kenzie stayed. "Tears show strength. It's good to cry."

Hazel looked up. "Is that why you cry whenever I do something bad to you?"

Kenzie smiled. "Now I was pained, so I let out my tears by crying. Enough talk, you're talkative."

Hazel smiled slightly. "Thanks."

"For what?" Kenzie asked.

"For making me feel better. But it doesn't change the fact that you're still on my enemy list," Hazel said.

Kenzie chuckled. "You know you can never change your heart to two. Shut up and relax, you'll feel a little better. Don't fight with your mom or sisters, okay?"

Hazel rolled her eyes. "I didn't plan to fight with them."

Kenzie smiled. "Stop calling me 'Mister Useless Booms'."

Hazel smiled. "In your dreams."

Kenzie held Hazel as she fell asleep in his arms. She looked cute and innocent when she slept Kenzie thought.

After making sure she's sound asleep Kenzie carried her back home.
