"That's all I want. To be your daughter-in-law," Stacy said, finally succumbing to the tears as she looked between Jeff and my mom.
Stacy was being so unusually bold, declaring her love over and over and I was eating it up. I was not the savant, but I was committing it all to memory for future use. Now was the wrong time to tease her, but I'd have months of wedding planning to repeatedly bring up everything she said today.
"I know, angel. I think we're all pretty clear on that. You're not pregnant, are you?" my mom asked, laying her hand on Stacy's belly.
"Good God why? No, she's not pregnant. Stop it, mom. Jesus," I said, yanking her hand away from Stacy's belly.
This interaction finally got a reaction out of Willow, who giggled behind her hand.
"If he insists on marrying you, I call shotgun on being maid of honor," said Willow, claiming Stacy's other arm.
