"Come back, Shin'ya," says a mysterious voice.
Shin'ya slowly sits up in bed, mumbling in a confused tone, "What was that voice?" He gets up and heads to freshen up.
"Shin'ya~" his mother calls.
"Coming!" he replies, wiping his face. He then goes downstairs to eat breakfast.
"Have a nice day," his mom says.
"Alright, Mom. Bye!"
"Bye," she replies.
Shin'ya steps out of the house, glances back at it, and starts walking toward his school.
(Name: Shin'ya, Age: 14, 8th Grader)
(School stuff. Yeah, we aren't wasting a page there.)
"I'm back," Shin'ya says, his face tired.
"Welcome back," both of his parents reply warmly.
"Well, looks like Dad's home early today."
"Yes, son. All the work was done, so I came back," his father says.
"Ok, ok… anyway, Mom, I'm kinda hungry. Can you give me something to eat?"
"Yes, of course. Come on," she says.
Some time passes…
(Dinner time)
"Thanks for the meal. I'm going to sleep now… I'm feeling sleepy."
"No problem, Shin'ya. You can go to bed," his mom says.
"Goodnight," he replies.
Shin'ya heads upstairs to his room, closes the door, doesn't even change clothes, and falls onto his bed, hand behind his head, mumbling:
"Man, life's so boring. All I do is wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, come back, eat dinner, do my homework, then sleep… maybe sometimes play games. That's it. Man, I just wish I could get isekai'ed."
He pulls the blanket over himself and drifts off to sleep.
(Slept… 8 hours later…)
Shin'ya slowly opens his eyes and sees he's no longer in his room. Instead, he's in a completely unfamiliar place — like another world.
"Wh-where the hell am I? I don't know this place… Wait a minute — did I JUST GET ISEKAIED!?!? OH BOY, I CAN'T WAIT TO BECOME THE OVERPOWERED ISEKAI PROTAGONIST! LET'S SEE… OH YES, THERE'S AN 1800'S EUROPEAN CITY ACROSS THIS FOREST! TIME TO SPEEDRUN MY ISEKAI JOURNEY!"
Our boy Shin'ya starts walking toward the city, but he encounters a monster-looking dog thingy (even the author doesn't know what it looks like).
"OH BOY, MY FIRST BATTLE! TIME TO USE MY OVERPOWERED MAGIC SKILLS!"
Shin'ya raises his hands, screaming, as a blue aura starts glowing around him — only he doesn't realize it's all in his imagination. The dog has already lunged at him. Before it can attack, Shin'ya bolts, the dog chasing after him.
"WHAT THE HELL WENT WRONG?! WHAT DID I DO WRONG?! I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT! OH GOD, PLEASE SEND ME A FUTURE PARTY MEMBER!"
Maybe God listened, because a second later, a fireball streaked through the woods, burning the dog, and a girl appeared from the direction of the fireball.
"Are you alright?" she asks in a gentle voice.
"Yeah, I'm okay. Thank you," Shin'ya says with a smile. Meanwhile, in his head: Man, she's cute. Thank you, God.
"So… why were you running from such a low-tier manabeast?"
"Well… you might not believe this, but I can't use magic," Shin'ya says, embarrassed.
"What do you mean you can't use magic? Even kids can. Anyway, my name's Yuki."
"You can call me Shin'ya."
"Ok, cool name. Anyway, where are you from?" Yuki asks.
"Well… I'm not actually from this world."
Yuki screams, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU AREN'T FROM THIS WORLD?!?!? ARE YOU SOME KIND OF WIZARD THAT GOES TO OTHER WORLDS TO DESTROY THEM?!?!"
"If I was a wizard, I could've used magic," Shin'ya says.
"Oh… yeah, fair point," she replies.
