Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8:Romano

"Earth to you, Samantha".

Mrs. Holmes hollered at my face.

Forcing a grin onto my face,

"Yes, ma'am?"

"I have just the perfect candidate for you!"

My head turned immediately, meeting the eyes of Rexhard, who gave a little shake of disagreement. And for some reason, he expected me to go through with it? Although I wouldn't disagree that I was already about to say no to my enthusiastic aunt... but why should my wishes align with Rexhard?

Tuning back to my aunt, I heard her yapping, and I was almost tempted to give up...

"And yes, he's rich, handsome, and is one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, you have to meet him..."

To keep her from yapping even more, I stood up, clasped my hands against her palms, immediately shutting her up and gave a brilliant smile.

She looked at my face for a second as if trying to see if I was tempted to agree, and then jumped again.

"Oh dear Sam, rumours say he's really handsome... perhaps even more handsome than our little handsome Alex."

And the sound of a pen snapping could be heard in the distance, but it wasn't paid any heed.

"And Sam," she continued, "he's so myste–"

"Of course, Aunt. I'd like to meet him."

And the sound of a table being slammed shut silenced the two of us.

My aunt jumped in fright.

"Alex!" she called out.

But Alex didn't care about Aunt Holmes in the slightest. His eyes were staring at me, so piercingly, and I felt a lump in my throat.

Before I could say a thing, he bowed and left, leaving me and my aunt. A few minutes later, she was gone.

I sighed. She was always so extra... telling me how much she wanted me to look beautiful and not to mess this up. She left me with a card, telling me he'd be sure to pick me up, but it was good to have his number. She had already made a reservation for both of us as a matchmaker.

Patting my shoulder, she left after kissing my cheeks. What a sweet soul she was.

Somehow, she managed to light up a little part of me I thought was dead to family.

And immediately, Rexhard, shedding his Alex persona, walked into the room, and I tried to play it off, ignoring him and walking to my table.

Sitting down at my table, to my surprise, he said nothing. Locking the doors to my office, my heart spiked.

"Rexhard? What does that mean?"

But I didn't get an answer. I stood up, giving him a death stare, but he didn't look at me. Instead, he went to my window sill, staring at the little bustling vicinity.

His voice purred with a terrifying calm.

"Samantha," he began.

"I see you're failing to realise just who owns you. I own your body and your soul.

You go on that date, and you get his blood all over this city."

Walking towards me now, he grabbed my waist and held my neck.

"Do you hear me?"

I tried to push him off, but my attempts only riled him up further.

"Get away from me!" I shouted.

"Why? So you run off to see a dirty little boy? Is that what you want?"

His hands roamed slightly, making me a little short of breath.

"Jealousy doesn't look good on you, Rexhard."

"Neither does anyone except me, Samantha Delacroix.

Another word from this little date of yours and I'm blasting a hole through his head."

The only reason I'm here taking the harder part is only because I wanted to prove to you I was capable of owning your company, with you. I'm sure you thought I was a monster who would steal your lifelong work and leave you with nothing."

"But this is how you repay me?"

Stepping away from me and arranging himself properly,

he left me with a final sentence, switching to Alex immediately.

"Miss Samantha, I won't be coming to work tomorrow. I apologize. My body feels weird and highly burdened for some reasons."

Nodding slightly, I shook my hand, gesturing for him to leave, another hand on my head, feeling a headache coming up.

He bowed slightly and left.

And I took a deep sigh.

Rexhard… just what games are you playing with me?

Do you want me to fall in love with you again just so you can use me?

I see... he just wants to get my guard down. He wants me thinking he's a good guy.

Rexhard Black is never a good guy.

He's the worst of the worst, and the scummiest of them all.

Just then, a little thought floated in...

He really didn't need to come into the company to own it though. If he wanted a transfer of ownership today, you know there's nothing you can do.

Picking up a paper from my desk, I crumpled it up and threw it against the glass, over and over.

"It doesn't have to be so complicated, Samantha," I said to myself.

"All you have to do is hate him. Hate him... and hate him.

Even if he saves your life, hate him!

You have to... he's never the good guy..."

Repeating the mantra like I was in a trance, I realized the paper was no longer in my hands.

Reaching down, I realized it was the card of my supposed date. I opened it up, wondering just who the guy my "incredible" aunt had booked me up with was.

I stared at it...

And stared again.

Romano Friedrich Wilhelm.

Wilhelm?

I raised my head up to the ceiling and blinked twice, as if trying to remember something. Reaching up to my telephone,

But at that moment, I remembered the words of Rexhard and scoffed right after.

He's not the boss of me.

An hour later, I was in the arms of another man, with Rexhard staring right me, the look on his face, seeing his wife sobbing at another man's hands, hands around her waist was deadly.
